Zoom unwanted with external display

I'm sure there is a simple solution for this, but I just can't understand it.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I connected to a projector for the first
time today and now no matter when I go into IE or Word or Firefox display automatically
Zoom out as far as it can go. More icons on my desktop are very large
and when I click on the option to view in Classic format, so that they go down
size classic then zoom right out to wide.

How can I fix this please?

Hi Joey112,

Method 1: See the steps mentioned in the link below to change the display settings on multiple monitors

Change-Display-Settings-on-multiple-Monitors

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-display-settings-on-multiple-monitors

Method 2: Make sure you have the latest drivers for graphics card\display card present on the computer.

You can check the link below

I've updated my Macbook Air to the latest version of El Capitan (ver.10.11.6), and since then, I had problems with my external monitor: image is thus largest, out of proportion, and I can't seem to be able to set the zoom out or by using the display options. That's all just terrible to work with her. It is not my monitor because I never change its configurations, and there is nobody else who has access, and the problem started after I updated to version 10.11.6

  • MacBook Pro (15 inch, end 2013) with MacOS Sierra 10.12: kernel_task maxing out CPU with external display

I have a maxed out end 2013 the MacBook Pro Core i7 to 2.6 GHz, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB.

Also, I have a DELL P2415Q Display 24 inches (3840 x 2160) using Thunderbolt, are involved through the headphone jack and use a USB for lightning to recharge my iPhone.

I upgraded to macOS Sierra the day he is released and had no problems until this morning. I unplugged my external screen and speakers and used my laptop for about 15 minutes, the battery, and then returned to my office and plugged my Thunderbolt, rear speakers display in and my CPU shot at 100% and never came back down. My Mac is essentially useless because kernel_task is eating all my CPU and to prevent another asks to enter the CPU.

I have since audited equipment - everything was fine, reset the NVRAM and I tried to erase IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext .plist files but I couldn't on my Mac (trying to follow this guide, started in Safe Mode and everything then went to try and find the file and my Mac just does not have it). When my external screen is plugged if I'm doing anything CPU intensive (videophone, opening of Chrome, etc.) then my kernel_task gets mad again, and the only way to move is to unplug my screen. Connect my iPhone to charge the tips also my kernel_task as well. I followed my internal temperatures, and nothing was out of the ordinary, to cold currently at about 140 °.

At this point, it seems that any time that puts something on the charging system and increase the temperature internal internal components of my Mac kernel_task maxes my CPU, which brings my Mac to its knees.

  • Impossible to connect an external display

    Hello

I have a MacBook pro 13 "with the latest software and updates to the OS. I tried unsuccessfully to connect my laptop to an external display, a Dell P2414H.

Unfortunately, this screen has a hdmi connector. I used the VGA cable with a VGA adapter / HDMI to connect to my Mac. I chose the VGA output on the screen, but the MacBook has not detected the screen. I can connect the external display with the laptop of a colleague who is on the 8.1 Windows / Ubuntu LTS 14.04 (dual boot). Thus, the HDMI, VGA cable adapter and the screen are ok because they work on other computers.

I also tried to plug in my MacBook at home with my external screen Asus (hdmi connection) and my Sony TV (hdmi connection). Everything worked well.

How can I solve the problem of connection with external display Dell?

    Thank you

    Concerning

  • kernel_task runaway (from 300 to 600%) CPU with 2 external displays

I have a MacBook Pro (retina, mid-2012), and for a year and a half, I've had episodes fighter during the kernel_task suddenly begin to consume all processor CPU (from 300 to 600%), is the response of the system so slow it is impossible to use.  I experience these episodes throughout the front 1-2 years that the machine went from Yosemite El Capitan and now Sierra.

Normally, I use my MacBook with two external displays, both at work and at home.  At work, I have two external screens of Lenovo, and at home, I have two screens Apple (Apple Cinema Display 27-inch and 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display). I discovered that this kernel_task high CPU usage can only be stopped by disconnecting one of the external screens.  After unplugging an external display, the kernel_task subsides immediately to normal (< 5%).  After a few minutes, I can reconnect the 2nd external screen and proceed normally (sometimes for days, sometimes for hours, sometimes for a few minutes) until the kernel_task pulls up to 300-600% again.  The use of the high CPU kernel_task never happens unless I have two external displays connected.

Note that since I upgraded to MacOS Sierra fugue kernel_task CPU frequency has increased considerably: of 1 kernel_task runaway every several days to a runaway almost every 10 minutes or so.   I don't have a reason this frequency has increased, but the runaway condition seems to have worsened by the fact that the photoanalysisd daemon is running like crazy on my grand (72 000) library of Photos.

Also note that I started in recovery mode and have re-installed MacOS Sierra, and it has no effect on the runaway kernel_task.

Any ideas on how to fix this resumption of kernel_task of all my CPU?

I have attached my EtreCheck system report below.  This report was captured with two attached external displays.  At halfway while generating a report, the kicks and started kernel_task hogging CPU again.

    Description:

Sometimes, while working with my MacBook connected to two external displays, the kernel_task pulls up to 600 to 800% CPU and stays there until I unplug at least one of the external screens.  After disconnecting, the kernal_task subsides immediately to normal (< 5%).  After a few minutes, I can plug the 2nd external screen and proceed normally (sometimes for days, sometimes for hours, sometimes for a few minutes) until the kernel_task pulls up to 600 to 800% again.  The use of the high CPU kernel_task never happens unless I have two external displays connected.

  • rMbp mid-2014, external display with the quality of the retina

    Hello!

I buy a Dell 24 "external display to connect to my rMBP with QHD (2 560 x 1 440) resolution.

    http://www1.euro.Dell.com/content/products/ProductDetails.aspx/Dell-u2515h-monit or? c = en & l = en & s = dhs & cs = frdhs1

I have connected the screen to my mbp with the mini display / port cable supplied with the display screen. It works well, but I don't have quality of retina at all (the images seems good but the text is terrible)

The text have a bad record as a retina screen, and it makes a big difference when I spend my retina display to the external display which is not comfortable at all.

I though that this kind of screen was OK to view the retina... but I was wrong. I try to connect with minidisplay / display and HDMI! HDMI made was worse than minidisplay. The res in the system report show was good 2 560 x 1 440. I even try the hack to force with the patch, but always bad RGB render text...

More important, I want to, it's having the same record as retina on the text and images. What external display can be good for this?

    My budget is 450-€500

    Thank you

The size in pixels of the screen is not mean much: a small display to 2560 x 1440 pixels seems much sharper than a widescreen 2560 x 1440 pixels.

Your retina Macbook has something like 220 dpi (DPI in English), the Dell screen only 117. If you want the same sharpness, you will need to choose a display with 220 dpi. But then, everything on the screen will look much smaller. Here is a tool that allows you to get the idea: http://dpi.lv/

  • Portege R700 with docking station may not automatically switch to the external display

    Hello!

In the past, we bought a lot of A600, R500, S10, and always a docking station for every laptop here at Desjardins, we bought.

Now we have a little problem with the new R700 model: PT318C - 00G 001,
    We bought 30 of them.

WHY when we put in the tie-down (with the nearby screen) it can display automatically to the external display no/switch? (in this case a 22inc LCD)
It is connect with the HDMI/DVI cable. And when we get the display by sliding in the graph of intel and media panel (V 6.14.10.5258), after a reboot of the docking, the screen is all buzzy... sometimes both screen are dark, and we must use a combination of keys to move.
It's really not easy to use for our users...

With the old model as the A600 or S10, all have always worked well, if we are on the dock, the pop screen directly on the external LCD, so I stopped him, ondock it and start up of all is well on the screen of the laptop.

We are on Windows XP Pro SP3.

I tried the utility Toshiba display device change and expansion Mobile from Toshiba. are not clear...

    Thanks for your help.

Have you installed a version of vanilla from Windows? Or XP has been installed from the Toshiba Recovery Disc?
Maybe you are missing several key structural factors (common modules for example). Also make sure that you use the drivers to display on the Toshiba site.

Also try a BIOS update (v1.70 is the last one I think).

  • Using the external display with Satellite A100-PSAA9

I have a problem when I connect to an external monitor of 2º, it connect but next it disconect, it's always the connection and disconecting. I did update the bios and the display driver, but I still have the same problem, what can I do?

My operating system is windows vista.

What do you exactly mean with disconnection and connection?
The switch to internal and external display or the display on the external monitor will simply disabled.

Have you checked the connection to the laptop computers monitor port?

  • Broken screen, external display mode standby with Satellite A10 S203

Of my Toshiba Satellite A10 S203 screem is broken, it's all guts, the colors and the black spaces. I plugged the laptop with an external display, but as soon as Windows starts the external display is in stand by. How can I change this?

    Hello

I had this problem as well before. After Windows starts the video reset Resets the video output to LCD screen instead of external monitor. Once this is the case try to use the Fn + F5. If this does not work, you might be able to start and press F8, once it gives you the windows selection menu go to safe mode. Once there go to video properties and change the default settings for the external monitor and try to restart normally. Should do wonders. Hope this helps, if not let me know.

  • Re: Satellite A660-10W - connection external display with HDMI cuts sound on

When I use an external display via the HDMI, it mutes the sound of the laptop.
It's OK because the external display has a headphone/speaker output jack.

However, when I close the external screen (which I use for movies only) and to use the laptop only, the sound is cut all the time that the HDMI cable is connected.

I can't hear sound - by harman/kardon speakers or headphone - when the HDMI cable is disconnected (if the external display is turned on or off).

Is there a way to allow me to have the choice and use her laptop - even when the HDMI cable is connected - in order not to keep plugging and plugging on?

    Thank you

    It is clear.
If the HDMI cable is connected, then the digital output is defined as audio output by default and therefore you do not hear the sound of the internal speakers but on external monitor speakers.

You need to change the sound settings.

Go to control panel of-> sound-> reading tab and set the speakers to laptop as default.
Then you should hear sound from the speakers for laptop!

  • What is the best external display for use with Tecra A8?

It is perhaps off of a question, but I'm in the market for an external monitor for my Tecra A8. The price range of 400 euro round. Any suggestions?

    Hello

What size of monitor you want bye? 17TO? or 19a?
I read checked the product on some websites and the Samsung SyncMaster 970 19a testing? is not a bad choice. You should get to 400Euros.

But it's usually? not easy to say which screen is best. I think you should visit some computer dealers and compare external displays. You know that you can check the clarity, brightness, contrast and response time. CA? It's important if you want to play games. It should support a low value. For example 8-6 ms

  • External display on HDMI overheating my Mac and drains the battery badly

    Hey guys.

I am using a MBP retina 2012 15 inches with an external monitor, a generic LCD 1080 p via HDMI without problems. And recently updated for Sierra.

The question starts immediately when I plug it into the screen. The Macbook seems to overheat and run fans above 4000 rpm, which is very audible and boring. CPU and GPU temperatures go above 70 degrees C (normally they make 50 +). The battery holds for only 1.5 hours, generally works well for 4-5 hours.
I tried killing all apps, followed a bad process in activity monitor, changing default resolution - nothing helps so far. The CPU is barely used by 10%, the memory pressure is fine.
It's just that time when I plug the screen - Mac starts bad feeling. Never, the problem occurred on El Capitan. Maybe it's a GPU problem, but certainly caused by the OS.
All the world had the same problem?

Try resetting the NVRAM (hold down the command-option-P-R on startup).

Also, try to restart in Mode without failure, then normally again.

Finally, try logging into your account, sign in to a user account (or the guest account) and connect the external display. Same problem? If it works fine for a new account then it's something in your own account which is the cause - perhaps an element of connection or some other system changes induced by the operating system previous and who does not play nice with Sierra.

  • How to calibrate an external display for macOS Sierra?

    Hi guys,.

seems that on my Macbook Pro after the update everything is strong and displayed correctly.

However, on the external monitor, a 24 "AOC who was as crisp and sharp as the laptop (kind of I know) the images and the text seems to be well screwed. two attached photos to see the differences between the screens - even cannot correctly read the external monitor

any ideas on how to solve this problem? or is irreparable? I tried to calibrate the monitor, used the old calibration profiles, etc. looks like illegible

    Thanks in advance

    Hello justme12,
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your post that the quality of the image on the external monitor is as clear and crisp as it used to be. I understand wanting to the external monitor to be as clear as possible. I recommend using the steps in this article to help resolve this problem:

Get help with graphical problems on external displays connected to your Mac.

    Best regards.

  • Scaling to external display

I have a 2015 retina MacBook Pro with an external display k 4 (Asus PB287Q) and since the update for Sierra yesterday, I can select is more scaling "resolutions" which lie between 1920 x 1080 and 3840 x 2160. HD is far too big, far too small 4K. If you please, that there is a solution to this... I tried to restart, and it actually brought back the correct options until I closed the lid, and now they have disappeared and don't come back.

That's what my display properties are similar (alt + click on Options):

I had the same problem since the beta and still no word from apple. They completely borked seriously display drivers. I run dual monitors Dell P2715Q. A monitor allows me to choose the old scale with all the resolutions already supported 1080 p up to 4 k. 10.11 I could select the same resolutions on both monitors. Now I'm stuck with the resolutions that you mentioned on my second monitor. If I put my MBP to sleep and wake it up both monitors reflect the resolutions that show you without intermediate options between 1080 p and 4 k.

  • My MBP with retina display has no top file, but storage information still show a lot of memory being exhausted by audio, photos and movies.

Recently, my MacBook Pro with retina display has started to run out of memory, so I moved all my downloads and stuff in my external hard drive. After the transfer, I had some good 20 GBs free and my folder all my files to completely empty.

But even now when I go into storage under the about this Mac information, it shows that more 1 GB of audio files, about 800 MB of photos and 500 MB of movies.

Using the search option (and put a black space in the search bar), I discovered a few files in the Mac section, but they were barely a few MBs in size, and no audio or images or movies were present there.

Where are all these "hidden audio, photographs and films that take about 3 GB of space from my hard drive? I am naïve.

Here is my overview of the system:

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

This view will be incorrect until the Spotlight indexing your drive. In addition, it is only an effort to classify the files types are known by their file extension. Thousands of files on the computer, however, will only be classified as 'Other' because they did not have a type that falls into one of five or six available categories. If you want an accurate display of disk space then: press command-I to open the window read the information. In the top panel is a visualization of the status of your drive: capacity, used and available. It's everything you need to know. If you want information on the types of files and their location, and then use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper or GrandPerspective.
