• Vista SP2 x 64 install error "0xc0190036 517/97646 (explorer.exe)" _

I'm trying the upgrade of vista x 64 sp1 to vista sp2 x 64. When the system tries to restart, it crashes with the error "0xc0190036 517/97646 (explorer.exe). I have to hard start and do a restore.
I tried several suggestions over a period of 3 days. One of the suggestions was to run chkdsk.  This is the error I get when I run chkdsk: "explorer.exe entry index in the index file 35 $I30 are incorrect."  If I run chkdsk /f it says it removes the entry and then explorer.exe is an orphan.  When I reboot and running chkdsk /f even once, I get the same messages.
Is the vista sp2 x 64 install error and the error from chkdsk associated.  What should I do?

XP Home SP3, Microsoft updates current running.  Also running avast! 6 free 3.54 Sandboxie, Windows Defender, COMODO Firewall (free) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free, SUPERAntispyware Free Edition, PC Tools ThreatFire.  Firefox 4.0.1 and also installed IE8.

Only three of these programs are running real time: avast!, COMODO, ThreatFire and Sandboxie when running a browser.

Updated definition files scanning shows the system to be clean.  System runs very quickly and smoothly.

Problem: Explorer.exe will not start after login.  Desktop is missing, taskbar, tray system, clock, start button and desktop icons and system stalls.  Check the Task Manager shows explorer.exe has not been loaded.  The first couple of times this happened it, CTRL + ALT + DELETE is the Task Manager, and I chose restart from, even when you are connected, and then explorer.exe should boot and load.

I have not checked yet to see, if and when this condition occurs again, if explorer.exe is going to load by clicking New Task Manager tasks.

Safe mode and running last last known good configuration worked the last time.

• Explorer.EXE error after the restoration of the ERD Commander

Dell Inspiron B130

Windows XP Service Pack 2

Recently performed a HD format and new installation of XP SP2. After I installed all the drivers and others, I checked that the system was operating normally. After a few days of use, Windows Update downloaded Service Pack 3 and asked me to install. I started to install SP3, but at about 50%, the laptop battery is dead at Midway through the installation. I plugged the laptop on the power source and power. I restarted the laptop and XP started only a completely black screen and the white slider. No ALT + CTRL + DEL, desktop icons, etc.

I rebooted the laptop of ERD Commander, ran the restore system and selected the first available Restore Point. Point of restoration chosen was recorded a few days before, and was the first recorded point after the clean installed XP. I rebooted the XP system. Wallpaper loaded with white cursor, but NO start menu or desktop icon. A message appears saying "Explorer.EXE Application error, press OK to exit the application" or something very similar. Did not write the error code, but can get if necessary. If I press the OK button (which is my only option), there is still no icons on the desktop or the start menu. Only the cursor. No access ALT + CTRL + DELETE or something like that.

Thinking about completely wipe the system and reinstalls the operating system. Any suggestions before I jump in this solution?

Explorer.EXE error after the Restore Point of ERD Commander. Dell Inspiron B130. Recently clean installed XP SP2 on laptop. Installation of SP3, to 50%, battery dies the laptop right in the middle of the installation of the SP3 update. Restarted, XP starts with black screen with cursor only. ERD restart order and restore XP to the last known good config (I choose point immediately after XP clean install). Reboot to XP. Now the wallpaper shows as well as the error message saying "Explorer.exe Application error, click OK to exit Explorer" dialog and then I can't access anything. Any ideas?

Hello

What is the full and exact error message?

Step 1: Check if you are able to boot into safe mode without any problem. If you are able to boot into safe mode without any problems then try to perform the clean boot to safe mode. Also disconnect any external devices connected to the computer.

• Media Center 2005 crashed I loaded Windows XP sp2. Installing XP cannot load explorer.exe and another dll file... Need help or information on how to request recovery of microsoft disk MC2005... Gateway has not.

Help please... I have a gateway gt4024 designed with Media Center 2005. Recently, the system was not "acting accordingly so I tried to reload the OS." I realized that I didn't have the recovery disc, then I decided to load XP Professional I had on it. The law on the computer is as it has been installed correctly and then I get a message saying explorer.exe could not be loaded properly or the drive perhaps is corupted and the same message to another .dll file. Once completed, I can reboot and use the computer, but then the windows installer will not work and the drivers are still present on the hard drive. Now, I loaded the new operating system before and I know that pilots are not supposed to be always present on the system. I then put a new hardrive has had the same problem. So, I then took the hardrive and placed in another computer that was be a dell and load xp fine without error. Can someone point me in the right direction. I contacted gateway to another Media Center recoverydisk, but they said because the computer was no longer under warranty, that they did not have the specified disc and to contact Microsoft. A link would be useful.

BizzyBidnez,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  Here is a link to the replacement of media information: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246

I use Windows Vista Home Ed and after installing Windows updates 08/22/2012 (7 in total) I can't access a website on Internet Explorer. I need to restore my computer to the 21/08/2012 and then, all right, but I don't want to have to do that every day. Any ideas?

The Windows updates were installed automatically and there was 7, so I can't identify which could be the cause of the problem. I also have access to internet via Sky which is my broadband provider. I use Internet Explorer 9.

Hello

-You have Windows Vista SP1 or SP2 installed on your computer?
-What is the error message accurate/complete that you receive when you try to go online using Internet Explorer after you install the updates?
-Is the issue not limited only with Internet Explorer or other web browsers?
-What software Antivirus installed on your computer?

Step 1:

I suggest you check in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

Step 2:

If you be able to start your computer in safe mode, I'd say make clean boot and check.

Place the computer in a clean boot state, then check if it helps. You can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Make sure you have backups of all important data for you (Favorites/internet Favorites, music, photos, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, drawings, numbers of series and product keys and installation to start with media) as soon as POSSIBLE.

Format and start from scratch OR use the 'Restore Factory default' the manufacturer can give you.  Your stuff of restoring a backup after installation of your spplications on the machine.

Why?  If this system is still messed up after cleaning a virus/trojan/worm/spyware/adware/malware - it may have to discover/waiting more moving and / ore actually operate 100% may take longer to restore to the Virgin (not to mention you can never achieve 100% otherwise.)

Explorer.exe has errors on start up that invites a temporary office to use. Vista was preinstalled, so I don't have a version of re - install?

Hello

Any manufacturer should provide a means of recovery, it is more often to another partition on the hard drive which is accessible at startup. See your documentation for instructions to access or post with the brand and model of your system for instructions.

As for the error, it means that you have a corrupted profile and these cannot be fixed. What you need to do is to connect to another administrator account and create one for yourself. Log in there and copy your personal files before deleting the original. The process is described in this article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

• Error message: explorer.exe (exception error: 0xc0000005)

Hi all

Hoping someone can give me a little more insight on this error.

I have a PC that is running Server 2008 R2. Recently, Windows Explorer has crashed on me. Here's the info I pulled from Event Viewer:
The failing application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7a144

Report I would be: 0b33d046-0fb4-11e6-acfc-00235482096a [/ code]

Then it happened again:
The failing application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7a144
Name of the failed module: SHELL32.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18952, time stamp: 0x55c3a0ed

In the first crash, I see the path of the failing module as a DLL from NVidia, but the second is something different. I ran sfc/scannow, and he sent back a message saying that he 'finds corrupted files, but could not solve some of them. I searched a bit and found the following:

• Several questions after restart explorer.exe

I have several questions after I ended the process explorer.exe and reopened. "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" only opens the Task Manager (and neither do "Ctrl + Shift + Esc"), the level of the battery is displayed on my taskbar, my wallpaper mysteriously changed, etc.

What happened in detail was:

My taskbar was hidden behind a window I had open. For example, if I open the Chrome, Chrome window cover at the bottom of my screen, with the taskbar behind it. The taskbar was NOT to hide and minimize. So, I took the advice to restart my explorer.exe. However this is not going smoothly. I couldn't bring up the task in any Manager. I could not even restart my computer. The only thing I could do was click on the space bar, which makes "click on" my browser Chrome which was open at the time. This allowed me to open a task manager with control of Chrome ONLY. Chrome, I've navigated to C:/.../explorer.exe and double clicked on it. I got my taskbar and the office back, although very distorted. Now, there are still a lot of questions I need to recover from. I think it might be a problem starting some .exe that could somehow have disabled. I would be happy to provide any additional information.

This is a safe operation restart explorer.exe. Your catalogue of failures suggest that you have some fundamendal problems. I would like to use the system restore to go as far as I could. If that fails to solve the problems, then I'd go for a destructive factory restore.

• Explorer.exe: "this file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if such is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. »

I find this weird problem affecting that explorer.exe and not any other .exe files. When I open explorer.exe in the taskbar or the C:\Windows\explorer.exe, the dialog box opens and indicates "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if such is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel. ». The control panel default programs Dosen t State .exe in the list of protocols and I find it complicated to press the windows logo and click computer each time. Please tell me that there is a way to solve this problem by means of edit this record.

I have not tried running sfc/scannow then chkdsk/f, two found no error.
