Several questions after restart explorer.exe

I have several questions after I ended the process explorer.exe and reopened. "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" only opens the Task Manager (and neither do "Ctrl + Shift + Esc"), the level of the battery is displayed on my taskbar, my wallpaper mysteriously changed, etc.

What happened in detail was:

My taskbar was hidden behind a window I had open. For example, if I open the Chrome, Chrome window cover at the bottom of my screen, with the taskbar behind it. The taskbar was NOT to hide and minimize. So, I took the advice to restart my explorer.exe. However this is not going smoothly. I couldn't bring up the task in any Manager. I could not even restart my computer. The only thing I could do was click on the space bar, which makes "click on" my browser Chrome which was open at the time. This allowed me to open a task manager with control of Chrome ONLY. Chrome, I've navigated to C:/.../explorer.exe and double clicked on it. I got my taskbar and the office back, although very distorted. Now, there are still a lot of questions I need to recover from. I think it might be a problem starting some .exe that could somehow have disabled. I would be happy to provide any additional information.

This is a safe operation restart explorer.exe. Your catalogue of failures suggest that you have some fundamendal problems. I would like to use the system restore to go as far as I could. If that fails to solve the problems, then I'd go for a destructive factory restore.

I just bought a Compaq Presario CQ62-219WM 2 days ago. So far, he froze and had to be restarted, the mouse does not always, and more recently, I have inserted a CD in the drive to download Microsoft Office and it will not load the CD, run the installation wizard or even eject the CD.  I'm more concerned about the CD - any suggestions on how to get it out? Should I even try again if I can get out? I wonder if I should just return now before things get worse. Help!

I was stuck in the cycle of crash/restart explorer.exe since September now and I am curious to know if there are definitive solutions. A fix would be nice...

    Details
I installed Windows 8 Pro x 64 September 18 (reliability monitor information). The first instance of this crash/restart cycle was September 24. Then, I tried to find out what happened on this day: there was an automatic installation of an update of definition for Windows Defender (KB2267602 (definition 1.137.336.0).) Looking at the previous day, the following are installed:

    • AccuWeather.AccuWeatherforWindows8

  • Explorer.exe FINTRAC CPU, does not properly

The "Explorer.exe" process takes about 50% of the capacity of the CPU of my computer, such as measured by the Task Manager. Looking at the Services associated with it, not those running seem dubious, as if Explorer had contracted a virus. There are also some problems with the functioning of systems based on explorer.exe, but they can at least be circumvented if necessary.

In the last day or two, all starting the computer produces a taskbar that would not - move the cursor over them produced the hourglass icon "busy, do not disturb", elements of the bac as the clock in the bottom right is stuck as they were at the start, and without tab appeared when programs or files have been opened. Who is today bypassed by stopping and restarting explorer.exe, but I've yet to see if the problem reappears when the computer restarts. At least if that's the case, I now know how to wake up immediately.

The start menu (after the above workaround solution) works for access to the standard folder options aside the user right, Documents, music, etc., but the white area on the left side does not show the usual program shortcuts. The display option "All programs" work as usual, but by selecting one of these "Pin to Start Menu" produces no visible result. Already pinned to start programs still think they are (make a right click gives you the option to 'Remove the Start Menu'), but the Start Menu is in disagreement.

I doubt that the hardware specs are important, since this seems to be a software problem, but here they are anyway: an Acer laptop Extensa 5510, running Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit, with 1 GB of RAM and more than 100 GB of hard drive formatted as two 'readers' of Vista (including approximately 34 or 45 GB of 'C' and had "respectively are used). (If anyone knows how to get the HD to format a drive I would like to know, but this isn't a serious question).

A quicker way to get more information maybe be use Process Explorer from Sysinternals to check the stack of the thread using the most CPU in the explorer.exe process, when you experience the behavior.  When Explorer uses the CPU as you have indicated, double-click the process in Process Explorer and go to the tab of the Threads.  Sort the list of threads by Cycles Delta (descending) and note the thread at the top. Double-click it and discovered its stack. Look for third-party modules (extensions of shell or modules, AV software, etc.) in the stack.  Disable (Autoruns or ShellExView, maybe) / uninstall these components, reboot and see if the behavior is affected.

  • Explorer.exe uses too much CPU

If I click on OK, or simply close the dialog box explorer.exe ends and restarts. After awhile, it starts to use full CPU again, and the same dialog box appears again. I have installed new software and tried almost every other way, this forum as restart explorer.exe etc...

  • Windows 7 Professional 64 bit explorer.exe hangs in my computer when I right click on my hard drive. Disks appear in the Solution Explorer or eject.

I have a serious problem when one of my windows, my main Administrator profile profiles, is very strange. Other profiles created on the computer, the administrator or standard user, all do not have this problem. The problem is when I open my computer, on my main administrator account, my hard drive is not recognized. There is a disc in the drive and it will not eject, nor will it recognize one is in the computer. The drive will appear in my computer, but there is no information on the icon about what drive is in the computer. Secondly, when I right click on it, the computer freezes and crashes explorer.exe. Once I have restart explorer.exe everything goes back to normal, but the problem is still there. I have this problem on other users on my computer. A system restore did not work, nor has a registry restored to an earlier period. In addition, everything else on the computer works fine, and there is NO virus or Trojan horses. I ran several deep scans with two different software, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Malwarebytes. I've taken I have a corrupted user profile and try to transfer my files in a new profile through the instructions from microsoft on their Web site. When I finished this profile has been impossible to obtain the necessary permissions to use files and I got errors trying to open anything. This problem has a solution, and I refuse to do a restore on a computer that otherwise does not work correctly. I would not have to re - install the operating system, or transfer my profile on a new resolution to this problem. Can someone at Microsoft help solve this problem? Thank you

  • KB973687 - msxml3.dll msxml6.dll - services.exe uses excessive virtual memory, the performance impact on the first logon after restart

Since the installation of fix KB973687, I had several SP2 and SP3 systems exhibit behavior that makes them unusable until after the first logon is completed, which can take up to 20 minutes.   I've identified the patch (KB973687) and DLLs, that it will update the origin of the problem, but uninstalling the patch does NOT return to normal operation.

I need to understand how to upgrade these systems WindowsXP SP2 and SP3 to restore normal operation, reinstalling Windows, programs, and settings is an expensive solution.

The performance problem is caused by services.exe slowly consumes about 1.5 GB of virtual memory, and then slowly releasing.  This seems to be triggered by the first logon after restart, this connection is very slow, the screen is blank for most of it, there might be failures of allocation memory during logon.  Once complete this opening of session and memory usage returns to normal levels, recording and return to work normally as do other operations until the system is restarted.

Spent a lot of time working with SysInternals Process Explorer, trying to find what specific service might be involved, lightweight system for bare essential services with no luck.

KB973687 seems to offer only two files msxml3.dll and msxml6.dll.  Uninstalling this patch, resettlement V3 and V6 of the XML parser fail to restore normal operation.

Not all systems seem to have place still restrict the differences.  Systems that are appear to be the oldest, with Windows XP has been installed for at least a year, installed Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Looking for these forums and the Internet, I believe that many have encountered this problem, but have not is it this level of analysis, seem most attribute it to a virus, I see several start explorer.exe manually, I didn't know all the alternatives before reinstalling Windows.

Found the solution, the following has been fixed in System Cleaner of Comodo 2.2.129172.4:

"For some strange reason, after changing some settings of the system with the CSC LastGood.tmp Directoy began to constantly be read from my hard drive. This would occur up to about 90 to 99% of my memory was used and then stopped, begin to free the memory, and the system began to slowly to function normally.
I used the process explore from sysinternals to help diagnose the problem with any process other than services.exe using memory.

I used sysinterals filemonitor to see LastGood.tmp directory has been read repeatedly.
After you have uninstalled CSC the problem has been resolved. »

Even with the effort to find the solution, it was better to reinstall.  Hope this solution helps others.

  • questions of Explorer.exe

Hi... after having used my laptop (toshiba satellite L650) for awhile all of a sudden I can't use the desktop icons to open programs. I then try to close the laptop and find that I have to force close as a program is still in use (explorer.exe (used for the output sound)) I then need to hold down the power button to shut down

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

2 is the issue limited only when accessing the shortcut icons on the desktop?

    3. are you an error message or error code?

This problem occurs because of the corruption of system files or settings.

Try the following and see if it helps.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to Run System File Checker (SFC) tool to scan and check.

Steps to perform a scan SFC:

un) Click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow

    (b) type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

[The command sfc /scannow. analysis of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.]

Once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2:

Note: If the question is limited with little files and applications, see the steps in the following Microsoft article.

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Note: FixIt would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of data loss from that particular area.

Keep us informed on the status of the issue.
