This has happened for a very long time.

    Does really say '... sysdm.cpl "?"

Is that what the text complete and accurate of what the message said exactly?  (there is no sysbm.cpl in XP, but there's a sysdm.cpl).

What happens if you click on start, run and enter in the box:

    sysdm.cpl

Click OK - the system properties box opens?

What happens if you click on start, run and in the type box (exactly):

    %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Click OK - is the open window of the system restore?

What is exactly the process (step by step) you are using when you try to create the restore point and when in the process you see this message?

I think it's a miracle that the Microsoft support engineer can provide a link to an article when the error message report you is a little out of whack and articles doesn't mention your error message at all.  It's real good troubleshooting or clairvoyance!

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

  • Cannot open the .eml files in Explorer windows except for Windows Live Mail

In Windows XP, I could download the files of .eml Windows Live Mail on my computer and then open them from almost anywhere on my computer. In Windows 7, I can only open these files in Windows Live Mail. I have created an association between the 2, but I can not open files with the exception of Windows Live Mail. How can I change this?

Simple design flaw. Simple solution - but he just buried by so many doors to Microsoft you idiots jump through.

    Follow these steps:

I found the solution: Set Window Live Mail (WLM) defaults for EML files in Winodws 7:

Panel--> programs-> set your default programs--> Windows Live Mail--> choose Defailts for this program. Now simply select .eml by checking the box. Select Save at the bottom and close.

    There you have it.

My question is about two entries in the list programs and services on the tab exceptions in firewall windows PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB, and if I can uncheck and remove them I do not play any type of online games which I am told they are connected?  I use XP (SP3) to House thanks.

  • HP SimplePass does not work except the windows log on screen

    Hey,.

When I bought this pc, it is Windows 8. I've updated my pc to the latest version 8.1 of windows. After the first update SimplePass stopped working on all browsers except Internet Explorer. He stopped work on the login screen too. But for some reason he started working on the newspaper on the screen all of a sudden. I contacted HP through chat support. They said that SimplePass is designed to work only with Internet Explorer. Other browsers may work or not. It is very good. According to his (Agent HP) SimplePass still works.

But after the SimplePass update stopped working completely except the login screen. I click on the icon SimplePass... no answer... I slip on the fingerprint reader... nothing happens. But the computer only works on the windows login screen. Below is my current pc info. I think that HP must update SimplePass.

  • Why can't I find the same theme of mouse cursor that I used it since the beginning of the 1990s on each upgrade of computers I've had since then with the exception of Windows 7?

Hi, I have used the same system of slider for years and had no problems to find on the Net, or put in my computer over the years, except for this new.  It is the set of mouse cursors when the sliders are all the mice for different functions.  There are other sets in the package, including a dance theme and a theme of Rameau, but I do not remember the others included.  If anyone can help find something similar, I would be very grateful that I HATE the "stuff" regular, ordinary! Thank you

    Hello

The only thing I can suggest would be to keep looking for a compatible version of Windows 7 that will meet your needs. Compatibility with Windows 7 is the responsibility of the software developer.

There are tons of these cursor there plans.

    Edit: More information.

It seems that the standard cursor file ( .cur ) w will work under Windows 7. How to install these may be different from previous versions of Windows. Here are some links with precision.

  • HP 2000 - no noise except reboot (Windows 8)

    Hello

I have an intermittent problem on my computer, where there is no sound unless I restart the computer, or I put the computer in standby mode and turn it back on. I did an audio troubleshooting (which no issues were found), a system restore and the drivers updated. It is not a problem with my browser, because when the problem occurs, I can't listen to anything on the media player...

    Thank you!

    Hello

    Try the following.

Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

After that you may or may not need to remove and reload the sound driver - if you do, how to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document at the link below.

    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.

  • Whenever I try to run a Windows program, with the exception of Windows Live Messenger, Windows Installer opens. Then I get a message that it cannot be opened.

Then I get a message that it cannot be opened.  It started with Office Word 2007, now it seems to touch almost all Windows programs.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type sfc in the search box, right-click to SFC. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

  • How can I move all my files with the exception of windows to another drive?

Hi, I have recently built my new PC. I have a 120 GB SSD and a 1 TB HARD drive. I have already installed windows 7 on my SSD and some programs installed on it. When I installed more programs on my HARD drive, program files, and other files stored on my SSD economy. Now I have files for the same program on two separate discs. I don't want that. I would like to have windows itself on my SSD and keep my user files, program files, and everything else on my HARD drive. If anyone knows how to do this, their help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an automatic jump towards the high Advisor new updates to install so I chose the required #6 and #5 update without problem but the 6th as stated above does not and I don't know why.  There is no reason why my security software would have limited download.
