  Avoid copying files from one computer to the other. It won't work. You run out of hidden files scattered around the hard drive and interrupt the licensing mechanism.

  Uninstall, run the cleanup tool.

  There are serious problems with CS4 on El Capitan. If the computer was made for Yosemite, you can consider switching to and use.

  Otherwise, you may need to move from CS4. The latest version of perpetual license (and the only one which can be purchased from Adobe) are CS6. Then it's the subscription of the CC.
