10g Grid control

Hello

I am running 10.2.0.1 database on windows xp 32-bit computer. Now, I want to download and install the grid control. I am looking for link http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/index.html and when I develop "Enterprise Manager 10 g Grid Control Release 2 (10.2.0.x)"; " I found
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10 g Grid Control Release 2 (10.2.0.2.1) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) (re-released) for more details refer to Note 835608.1

My question is, is it right to download and install correct; while I am running said 10.2.0.1 and control of grid for 10.2.0.2; so I'm confused because there is no grid control for 10.2.0.1 for linux is available, but not for windows.

Thank you.

It will work. The Readme will say as well. Unfortunately the Grid control has its own numbering of patch.

    Hello

According to the name of the topic, it is possible to manage a database 11g with 10g grid control? The situation is that 10g grid is up and running and we have several new 11g databases, can they be added?

After that, when I try to install an agent from the web interface, I'm invited only with the Linux platform, however the 11g database is under Windows, how can this be resolved? (Enterprise Manager Grid Control works on linux)

Thank you very much for the input.

Yes, it can. But better to use the Agent and the Group of OEM Grid Control 10.2.0.5 patch.

Not sure I understand how you install the agent, could you clarify? It comes from the OEM Grid COntrol? Have you downloaded the Agent for Windows?

  • Questions about 10g Grid Control (where/how)?

Should install US 10g Grid Control on a separate machine, then our production database server or is it play nice on the same machine? The production server is a decent UNIX machine currently used 12 instances; We have capacity/room for EM if it will work well here. If this is the best on a separate machine, will be Windows 2003 (2 CPU 2 G of RAM) enough?

The current databases are all 10.2.0.4 and configuration with Enterprise Manager on an individual basis. Should I remove or stop these agents EM if I go to the Grid Control?

    Thank you.

You can certainly seven. database repository of WHO and in large installations, it is highly recommended. If you are going to hang Grid control for monitoring and alert you want as stable as possible to ensure the capture and alert as expected and breakdowns in the grid control functions affect not your ability to be alerted when monitored environment has a problem.

It is not necessary that the repository of control grid and WHO will be on the same platform there fore mix windows and unix to the SGC and the repository is fine, but ensure that the environment will be as stable as you need it to be to achieve the objectives of grid control.

  • Is 10g Grid Control compatible with Database 11g R2?

    Hi all

I tried the certificaction for grid control matrix in Metalink and it shows the latest compatible version of the database to create the repository is 11.1 also I do not know if he could watch a 11.2 database...

If I try to install the usual way, I get an error of invalid version and if I use the silent mode, I'm stuck on an error, so I guess that, for now, it is still impossible.

Any of you have had experiences like mine? I had planned to use it to administer Data Guard...

If he could watch a 11.2 database...

It can monitor, at least the basic functions, I added a database of 11 GR 2 targets being watched (more exactly the agent discovered it correctly). New features (and some for dataguard, too) are not yet covered. And it is not supported. 10g is not very accurate, is not the latest version 10.2.0.5 running on Windows Server 2003, don't know about the lower versions.

The lack of official support, I would not included another 11 GR 2 databases in production environments.

  • 10g Grid Control - how?

I have two servers named SAFLO1 and SAFLO2.
SAFLO1 is an instance of UBIFIN with Oracle Enterprise Manager database and no other agent installed.
I want to install Grid Control on the SAFLO2 server.
    I now - Questions
What agents do I need to install on SAFLO1?
Control grid requires a database to its repository?
How to start and stop agents on the SAFLO1 and the SAFLO2?

Take a look at [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/install.102/e10953/firewalls.htm#i1005951] (figure 19-1). Agent sends data it collects to the WHO which stores it in the repository.

I guess you mean database independent, control grid not centralized. The latter is a software separated, don't not part of a database facility. The standalone version is unable to create a database of pending, you need control grid for this.

  • Grid Control 11 g includes advanced replication management?

The system that I administer currently Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control to General administration, but he had to keep the old based on java Enterprise Manager to manage advanced replication. (All of the databases is currently Oracle 10 g. We plan to upgrade the databases up to 11g Release 2. The context is a central database with 16 knots that have views materialized update-able over them to subsets of the data.)

I do research moving to Oracle Enterprise Manager 11 g. Manage Advanced Replication? Otherwise, what Oracle tool now provide or support for advanced replication management? The URL of a white or manual book or article would be a great help.

    Clark,

If you do not find yourself still, Yes, he does. OEMGC can set up and manage advanced replication environments: http://oracle.informatik.haw-hamburg.de/server.111/b28326/repoverview.htm#i13140

Means that they do not work in 11g GC or simply not supported?

    As per

Auditor Certification Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control [ID 412431.1]

OEM 10 G GRID supports 8.1.7.4. databases. And through Oracle 11 G grid will not support.

This means that you can continue to use, but in the case of any question, you will not be able to take the help of the Support of Oracle.

But I'm sure that you can monitor the database 8i with 11G grid.

I suggest you use the 10G agent for monitoring database 8i because with officials of 11 G you might face questions of database 8i.

    using the pull (agentDownload.vbs) method.

It is supported to run agentDownload.vbs in upgrade mode by specifying the NEW grid control?

NEW 11.1.0.1 on Linux x 64 Grid control
Oracle 10.2.0.5 database TARGET. Standard running on Windows 2003 x 86

    Thank you

    Hi Julian,.

You cannot run this mentioned during the upgrade. But after upgrade, you can point a WHO to another agent using the following document:

How to point an Agent to a different grid WHO control and a repository? (Doc ID 413228.1)

NOTE: Please note that this procedure is valid only for the agents of 10 GB & 11g. This procedure is not valid in 12 c.

    I can do #1 and #3.
How do you get #2? What is the URL to it? Or is it done through SQLPlus?

Not sure if the link will work.  Connect on Mos, tab click certificates, and then look for in Enterprise Manager Base platform - CMS and select 12.1.0.3.   To view the results of 10g / 11g, search for Grid Control.

  • grid control agent

    Hello

I have a database of the RAC 2 node 11.2.0.3, version of the OS is RHEL 6.1

Our installation of server control existing grid is 10 gr 2.

Can I install 10.2.0.5 agent on my CAR and using the 10g grid to monitor my 11.2.0.3 database (RHEL 6.1)?

    Thank you
    Vishal

There are a few different components. You have the database repository, the who and the agent that is installed on your target databases. I created a separate database repository, that didn't impact my 10g repository and WHO, until I had all this work with 12 c. Of course, you can improve if you wish, rather than taking this separate repository/WHO approach. Your call.

    I've done the following:

    (1) create a 11.2.0.3 for the repository database. I had it on the same server as my 10g database repository. Make sure you have enough memory etc. before you go and create a new database.
    (2) create a HOUSE of SGD 12 c Release 2. It was also on the same server as my 10g SGD. Point this WHO 12 c on the database created in step 1.
    (3) install the agent of 12cR2 on your target databases. I think it could be a conflict with the agent of 10 GB, so it must be uninstalled first. I don't remember for sure however, so you can check on MOS or raise an SR for this.

I exported my models of my deposit of 10g and imported in the using 12 c before applying it to the target databases, listeners, etc.:

    emcli export_template ........
    emcli import_template

Please note that the 12.1.0.1.0 and the 12.1.0.2.0 both are based on RHEL 6. Your choice as to what you need to install but I have 12.1.0.2.0.

You can set up the alias for the virtual host name and virtual IP address by either allowing the clusterware to set it up automatically or
by setting it up manually before installation and startup of Oracle services. The virtual host name must be static and resolvable consistently
on the network. All nodes participating in the setup must resolve the virtual IP address to the same host name. Standard TCP tools similar

Still, if you want to create a cluster of operating system level, you must level operating system, software clustering. Which is provided by the operating system vendor (or a third party for the operating system) not by the hardware vendor. This is why you said now many times that there is no such thing as 'Dell clusterware provider'. If you are looking for something that does not exist, you are unlikely to find something useful.

In your thread in duplicate (one of the reasons why it is annoying to have multiple threads duplicate with a different story and its context), I you pointed a clusterware solution for linux operating system. Hemant suggested others. If you're dead set on using OS clusterware to create a cluster rather than using CARS, you will need investigating one or more of these options to determine which work for you.
