11.1.1.9 OBIEE administration tool

Hi I installed the last OBIEE on Linux server. How can I use to start administration tool to create a file of the RPD. I went through the documentation but not obvious. What I have to download the full 64-bit windows software and install the software alone or do I have an option?

It's what Christian: in the OBIEE front page 'Home' at the bottom left you have a list of links in the "BI Desktop Tools download" to download a few different clients, one of them is the 'Oracle BI Client Installer", this is the one you need.

Your linux installation already 'contains' the .exe to install the administration tool on a Windows System.

11.1.1.9 Admin tool is certified for Windows 7 and 8.1 and it works on a 64-bit of Windows Installer (you must set a parameter on the exe to run Windows 7 or the installer fails with an error: If you Google the error it tell you the parameter set as it looks like it ' has an error happening during the installation of many software on 64-bit Windows 8.1).

PS: the screenshot is SA406, 11.1.1.7, running, but it must be the same (and maybe some formulations) in 11.1.1.9.

  • How do the function of Oracle database in OBIEE Administration tool

    Hi all
I want to use an Oracle database function as a column in OBIEE (BM, presentation model). Can someone made this inOBIEE. Pointers to this is much appreicated.

    Thank you

    Hi user7417334,

You cannot use the formulas in the presentation layer (not that I know well). But you can certainly use functions of oracle database in MDB layer.

You want to use the function EVALUATE. It works like this:

    can EVALUATE (' TO_DATE (%1, %2) "AS DATE, 31 December 2009", "MM/DD/YYYY" ")

    Generic version: EVALUATE ('' AS , value1, value2, etc.)

FUNC) is the syntax for the function you are calling. All parameters must be replaced with %, where number refers to the order in which you specify your settings.
DATATYPE) the type of data that will allow to evaluate the function. In this case, the DATE.
Value1) the last part of the formula is a list separated by commas of all parameters used in the function. In this case, this is the date I want to ride
Value2) is the second parameter. You need as many times as you have referenced in your function. In this case, it is the date format.

Good luck and if you found this post useful, please give points!

  • MÜDE - administration tool to use OBIEE DPR

    Hi all

We have OBIEE installed in dev server and to implement the MUDE

We want to use the shared folder on the same server for master SPR.

is it possible to use the same Server Admin tool to access the DPR MÜDE, or do we need to install Client for MÜDE administration tool. (this will be installed too OBIEE admin and Client tool server) is possible.

    Thank you

Using the tools of the client on the server is usually not the best idea (it is a server, not a customer), there is no reason why you cannot configure administration tool for the local mud folder.

But, I think that to answer your question - admin admin tool is - there is was no difference for the administration tool installed with the server OBIEE administration tool installed as standalone client tools.

Thank you very much in advance and greetings.

    I had really any problems.

The client computer, installed 11.1.1.9 OBIEE administration tool.

An Essbase installed 11.1.2.4 customer, I installed this version as it corresponds to OBIEE 11.1.1.9 as who uses 11.1.2.4 drivers.

Update bi_init.bat to include the ESSBASEPATH variable and adds the path to the variable ESSBASEPATH\bin

Open the online administration tool, import

Tested the connection to two 11.1.2.3.506 and 11.1.2.4 Essbase

    Imported fine.

    See you soon

    Dear all,

We are facing problem in OBIEE administration tool while creating the new repository by selecting the data source as Essbase. And also, we shared the document that contains the steps made by us to solve this problem.

Question in the selection of Data Source as Essbase

But the issue has not been resolved and we expect your support and useful suggestions to overcome this problem.

    Thank you and best regards,

    SaiSC

Keep "simple" things, you have a 64-bit Windows, just install a client of Essbase 64-bit...

Go to delivery under the "Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System" product packaging, download only the 'EPM system release 11.X.X.X.0 Client Installers' and there inside, you have the Essbase client (it's a bit silly that you need to download a file of 2 GB for just the small Essbase client, but this is the best place I found to always get a good record). Install it, then point the mailed earlier to the right path environment variable.

I did and it worked by himself in all my Windows 64-bit.

Use of the 32-bit clients on 64 bit OS what you always end with questions because of the default path pointing 64-bit slots and so things are missing or you have a mix of 64 and 32-bit.

(I guess that's not important if you choose 11.1.2.4, 11.1.2.2 or 11.1.2.3, they work I would say, but if I'm not mistaken the Essbase installed by OBIEE is more 11.1.2.2...) For you, it isn't. (2.4)

  • 'ADMINISTRATION TOOL' RESEARCH RELATED

    Hi all

I have a few questions about OBIEE administration tool, asking for help to get answers to these.

OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.0, no information on these queries using / / site documents related to these issues would help me.

1 suppose that I have more than one dimension in a single RPD model, more than one developer to join this RPD. Is it possible to restrictaccess a model dimension so that he or she will not be able to access the other models?

    2. where there are several rpds in the Administration and many developers tool access, can security be defined as "User will have access only to the SPR1" can not access any other RPD/off line.

3 administration tool must be installed on the server, or it can be installed in the customer system also? ask this question because if more than one developer wants to access to the administration tool at the same time how it is possible?

    4. in my SPR I have dimension models (more than one), can I import a model of this RPD to other RPD?

    5. What is the multiuser environment? This will help one of my above requirements?

    Thanks in advance

    1. No, but you can use the MUD to set different projects so that the developers "check out" the they work on projects. See the links provided on the previous answer.

    2. the guarantee is defined in each RPD. To open a RPD you must be a user administrator defined in this RPD. Online access may be restricted if you block your BI servers on port 9703 connections so that they can come to a local connection or IP addresses defined. You will need if a firewall for that. Offline access cannot be restricted. If I have a RPD locally and I have an admin account I can open it anywhere I want.

    3. the customer alone is fine. You simply install the client tools on each developer's computer.

    4. Yes, search this forum for 'fusion repositories', a lot of guidance already available.

    5. the links above give you a good explanation of what is MUD and what it's for. Searching this forum also gives you a lot of information.

  • SPR in OBIEE is different from that of the administration tool

I have edited the RPD (new.rpd) and deploy it to the server. When I opened OBIEE, I got the new area of topic, but when I change online the RPD in the administration tool, the RPD was the old one (SampleAppLite), so I can't edit online the RPD. Can I know how to change online the new RPD? I want to change online the new RPD. Why has this happened? Thanks master

    Dear Sir

I think you're wrong to choose the port. try to watch your em, then go in Business Intelligence - coreapplication - availability - process tab. I guess you are using 11g, but if you use 10g. simply stick to the word of availability, you can find this in Capacity Management tab. Then look at the BI server, check the host and port. Start making your DSN from that. I hope it helps

    Hi all

    I used OBIEE 11 g on Windows7

I can't see all the users in the administration tool-> manage-> identity-> users tab in the right pane.
However, the application roles are visible.

I am able to see users and application roles in the administration console.
All new created user is not visible. Due to this setting log level for each analysis individually became a problem.

Could you get it someone please let me know what could be the problem?

Ugh, you have to go ' Actions / Set filter user online ' and put a * in the box. Oracle, in their infinite wisdom decided to set the default value to show any user (I submitted a request for improvement for this a year ago...)

  • How to have the Administration tool in English?

    Hello
I have my windows installed in Portuguese. When I install the administration tool, it comes out in Portuguese (menus, etc.). I wish it were in English, documentation, forum, etc. are in English, and we have used words like 'join', etc... and not the translation.
I did some experiments with the settings windows regional / regional, but always without success.

    Pls clues?

Do you have what version of obiee installed? If you have installed 11g, there is a bug, which does not allow to choose the language for the installation and always default language based on the language of the OS. See ( Bug 12824489: OBIEE ADMIN TOOL INSTALL DON'T REQUEST NO LANGUAGE).

  • Import Essbase resources in administrative tools

    Hi experts,
In the remote server, we installed 11.1.1.6 OBIEE and ESSBASE 11.1.1.2.
In our local computer, we only install Administrator Client tools to connect to the remote server. When import us data coming from Oracle 11 g, it's OK.
But import us data which come from Essbase, it generates the message error 'could not load Admintool pilot Essbase.» Please check the configuration.
It is assumed that the reason is that we do not install Essbase in the local computer.

So, we want to check that if we install only 'Essbase Client' in the local computer as 'Administrator tools customer', we do not want to install complete Essbase as Hyper Services, because it is very large. Is this possible? Thank you.

We had exactly the same problem with 11.1.1.5.0 version of version 11.1 Essbase and OBIEE. See MOS for the solution: (try importing Essbase data in OBIEE 11g tool Administration Fails With 'Can't load Essbase Driver Error' or "Connection failed error" [1302902.1 ID])

  • Administration tool only read access

I was wondering if there is a single read access to the administration tool.

What I'm trying to do is to test the Build repository with best practices, given that this repository is live and made by a group of developers.
As I recently joined and wanted to know what resources I need to view and test the repository.
I was wondering if there is a read access only to the administration tool, not sure this subject and also do I BI oracle installed on my local machine to view the repository.

If not, is there a way where I can get to see the repository without having the privileges to make any change or save changes to online or offline repositoryin mode

    Thanks Deva...

  • in the bi administration tool we need work offline only?

    Hello

    in obiee 11g

whenver a new table have to be imported in the bi administration tool, must it be done in offline mode only and must be deployment again by going to 'EM,
because I imported a table to a Pool of existing online connection, offline mode was not able to see these paintings?

I check out and check in the application to see these sector sbject, but when offline not able to see those?

    Thank you

I'm still using offline mode, since the Server 64-bit and 32-bit client admin-tool. When you use offline mode, save the changes in your repository, and go to the EM:
    -go in Business Intelligence-> coreapplication-> deployment-> repository
-Click on the lock and change the Configuration
-Search for a file in the repository
-give the deposit password twice and click on apply
    -Click Activate changes
    -Restart your system components

Changes should be now visible in analytics.

  • Cache Cache vs Administration Tool cursor

    Hello world

Someone asked me what is the difference between the cache of the administration (manage-> Cache) versus cache tool cursor (settings-> administrator-> manage Sessions), and even though I have erased them two many-a-times, I'm still not sure the difference.

Can someone explain to me the difference between the two?

    Thank you!

    -Joe

    Hello

The cache administration tool is a file cache based on the OBIEE server that stores the results of database queries. This means if a user makes a request the OBIEE server first checks the cache to determine if the query has been executed and cached, or if a superset of the query has been executed and cached (that is less restrictive than the current query request can be satisfied of). If he finds there is a cache entry, then it returns the results of here instead of issuing any SQL to the database, thus speeding up until you get the results back to the user.

Shown in the cusrsor cache cache hidden on the presentation server, it is a cache of the content that is returned to the browser of the user, this means that the user comes back to see results for a query, they already did, then the presentation server may simply return the same content to them without even having to go through the OBIEE server again at all.

So basically 2 levels of caching, one on the OBIEE server and the other on the presentation server.

    Kind regards

    Matt
