12.3.3.17 update erased my music library

Updated to 12.3.3.17 yesterday. Open iTunes and saw almost all of my library was missing. I did the .itl file renaming. This restored all files of the Album, but not individual tracks.

Since I have more than 4,000 titles, I'm not at all prone to is sit and load all my collection of CDs again.

Any ideas? Copy what from my iPOD to the Mac. I've seen some software to do this, but all cost money, anything from $ 30 to $ 50.

Help, please

The naning re of the .itl file doesn't restore the old file which stores information indicating to iTunes where to look at the files. Generally, the files are still there but update has failed rewrites this file and you use the old version.  If the files themselves are actually missing, then that's when you rejoice to have it made a backup of all of your computer before running never any type of update.

Yes, there are commercial (= $) software that copies files from i-devices.  I imagine that Apple does not include as part of iTunes through the agreement with media companies who do not want to do this kind of thing easy because of him facilitate piracy.  Note that if you used a track of lower quality on your i-device on the computer it's the piece of lower quality you will get. Nothing beats a good computer backup.

First and foremost, I would check your real media folder.  iTunes relies on the .itl file and record additions and deletions to be correct. It does not actually stock the media file for what is there. Your music is perhaps still but you nee to rebuild the library file.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. I see that you had problems adding pieces and turn off Genius. I know how it is important to be able to add music to iTunes. I'm happy to help you.

Since you are being invited to turn off Genius, you can add music, please use the following information to resolve these two issues:

Turn on or off the Genius

If iCloud music library is enabled, you cannot disable Genius.

Choose file > library > Genius (toggle Genius).

Turning off the Genius Genius Genius Shuffle shuts and and the Genius Mix.

  • After Update 9.2, I can't find the setting of music library to iCloud.

After Update 9.2 that I can't find the setting to turn on iCloud music library, besides I can't position to turn on the Apple music either.

If I went blind or where these settings removed?  I don't know why they would have been removed but I did look through everything in settings and can not find them. It drives me crazy. It existed before the update. I want to just turn it on so I can access my music to iCloud.

Does anyone know where the setting is?  Yes, I rebooted several times already.

What do you see when you go into the app music?

  • iCloud music library

I wanted to remove some songs from my phone to get more space, but to do this, I had to remove the musical library of iCloud option and manually select the music I want on my phone. But in doing so, I can not record songs when I active apple music subscription. So, I turned on the music library to icloud and the music I wanted to remove first is back on my phone and the songs saved the subscription of apple's music have disappeared. My question is: how to remove music from the music library to icloud? Thank you for your understanding.

    Dorut Hello,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand not wanting to manage your music and create space on your iPhone. These articles will help you to manage your music and create more space on your iPhone.

Delete songs and video clips from your music library to iCloud

In the next article, there is a section to remove the content manually. I also highlighted the steps below the link.

If you need more space for an iOS update

In the settings menu to use, you can see how much space your apps use and delete those you don't need. You can always re - download your purchased applications or any content later. Follow these steps:

    1. Tap Settings > general > storage & use iCloud > storage management.
    2. Select any application to see how much space it uses and tap Delete App to remove it. Some applications, such as music and videos, allow you to remove parts of their documents and data.

    Best regards

  • Cannot be deactivated iCloud music library

As the title says, I want to disable iCloud library iTunes music on my PC, but cannot do so.  I have absolutely no interest in using iCloud library and I'm sick of it telling me that my session has expired and asking me to connect whenever I run iTunes.

After a decent chunk of time trying to understand what point, I found a lot of posts in line to turn it off I just have to go in the General preferences and uncheck the option that is just below "See Apple Music."  The problem is that I don't have this option.  Its literally not there.

I guess that what has happened is that all of these messages refer to older versions of iTunes and everything what reason, this option has been removed in the subsequent updates.  If this is the case, please tell me that there is another way to disable iCloud music library.

So I just kept going in the rabbit hole of apple support pages and eventually find the solution.

    https://discussions.Apple.com/message/29278770#29278770

I forgot to mention, but I've never used iCloud music library or Apple's music, so I could not understand why he said my "session expired" when I never started a session at first.  And maybe that's why the option turn off never showed up in my preferences.

The fact that the solution was simply to signout, restart iTunes and then reconnect you makes me think it must be a bug.  And because of the ridiculous difficulty, I had to find a solution its a particularly frustrating bug.

I hope that this issue helps someone else who takes care of this *.

  • Sync iPod very old classic in my musical library of MacBook Pro

My husband has an old, classic iPod (remember the year), and I would add my iTunes library (songs) for what is already on the iPod.   When I connected the iPod to my 2011 MacBook Pro, set iTunes to update iPod to the latest version of the software, but then do not synchronize.  When I plug my iPod to more recent (2011) model, it automatically up-to-date with my iTunes library.  Why don't the old iPod to date as well?

    Thank you

    Katrina

If the iPod is currently to synchronize with your husband iTunes library, it doesn't syncs automatically with your (different) iTunes library, unless you change the association so that it syncs with your iTunes library.  The iPod can only using automatic synchronization ( synchronization music setting) with one iTunes library at a time.  If you change the binding so that the iPod will sync with your iTunes library, content current iPod is deleted and replaced with the content in your iTunes library.

To do this, select the iPod in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to show the settings screen in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings, click music.  Right, parameters of music on the iPod screen.

NOTE: All of the songs from the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.  If there is a problem, thanks for posting

Check the box to Sync music.  This enables automatic sync and combines the iPod to your iTunes library.  If your library iTunes music can fit on the iPod, you can choose the option synchronize entire music library.  Then click apply.  iTunes syncs your music to the iPod, by replacing its existing content.  Further, iTunes automatically keeps your iPod 'in phase' with your iTunes music library when you connect (or click sync , if already connected).

  • Playlist with tracks near ruined my music library

    Hello

I have a big problem with iTunes. For precision, the products I use are:

    -iTunes game

    -Apple music

    On the following devices:

-iTunes for PC (Windows 10, updated yesterday)

    -iTunes for MacBook Pro (12.3.2.35)

-Music App for iOS (iPhone 6 iOS 9.2)

    Circumstances chronological, as follows.

    1. I chose to create a smart playlist with the tracks liked (or close), recognizable by the heart, has been successfully implemented within seconds.

    2. smart Playlists cannot be shared with other users, so I made a playlist normal and added to the smart playlist. It has also been completed.

    3. After awhile, which surprised me, on my MacBook pro and the iPhone 6: all THE TRACKS I liked are placed in the back (with the mac) and placed at the front (on the iPhone) AND all the numbers removed from track. See illustration.

Focus: I don't speak of the playlist. But my music library on all of my devices.

This is not the first time that I have contacted the Dutch Apple contactcenter. These "products" are starting to work on my nerves.

ALSO: THAT FACT 6 MONTHS FOR ANOTHER THIS PROBLEM, what does Apple? iTunes says I am not connected to Apple music

The ranking is as expected for tracks without track number. Why love a track should cause this to happen is a mystery. Each of you, the media would be ideally stored on at least one of your computers and backed up so that information could be restored from the backup if necessary. See how to backup your iTunes library with SyncToy Windows for for a suggested method.

It would be possible to repair the track numbers by temporarily renaming the iTunes Media folder (so cannot read the data in the files), use the method of offset-start-iTunes to open a version of your library in the folder previous iTunes Libraries that has the data you want to retrieve, use a script called import/export to export the necessary information (this would need an editing tool if it is only to record the track numbers & disc and) (heads), close iTunes. restore the original name of the iTunes Media , shift-Start-iTunes folder to reconnect to the original library, and then import the exported data.

You could also report your findings via the relevant feedback form, for example iTunes Feedback, or make use of Apple bug report.
