15 - ba016na: M.2, adding to 15-ba016na sata

I just got hold of a 15-ba016na from Argos - everything is fine, but I would like to put a M2.sata in and move the operating system to hold the 2 TB for storage drive.

Is it possible with this model.

I did have the chance to open it but to check

The optical drive caddy is not good for the SSD. A disc in the optical housing will not be bootable and the interface is slower, probably SATA so I read/write speed will be low. If you need pure storage is not bad but it accelerates the laptop by any means. Put your SATA SSD in the primary location and a mechanical storage in the optical Bay drive is the best configuration.

  • The mSata 32 GB drive is usable after adding a 256 GB Sata disk as a boot disk? Dell XPS 8700 desktop computer.

    Hello

I plan on adding a 256 GB Sata Drive in a desktop Dell 8700 to use as your windows startup disk. I will then use the ordinary 2 TB HDD as a data reader. I've read some posts on this and think that I can do. I'm still a bit fuzzy where to find iso Windows 8.1 I need though.

I want to know if I can still use the 32 GB mSata reader as it was planned, with Intel Rapid Storage? If this is not the case, how can I to use?

    Thank you

PS: I am computer enough to get me into trouble :-)

    Hello

mSATA reader uses the SSD technology to make the system faster. If you add an SSD technology TSRI functionality could be cancelled.

However, to use the SSD on the system please change the SATA mode in BIOS to AHCI TSRI. Once you add the mSATA card can be used by car from additional data. You will need a reinstall the operating system to install on the system drive. You can use the link below to place a request to reinstall operating system drive (us. only).

If you are not able to make a request to the disk from the link above, then please send me a private message with serial number of the computer, name registered in the purchasing system and email address so that I can check out what we can do. • Try adding card h8 Startech Sata III - 1360t

Okay, I need help. I have a H8 - 1360t I'm in perpetual on upgrade mode. Currently, I have stock HDD and two Sandisk Extreme 240 GB SSD hybrid Seagate Momentus xt 750 GB disc. I had to move the stock HARD drive in a drive bay with a switchable dock hot, because of the single holder holding three discs. I also maxed out the RAM to 16 GB and have added a GTX670 4 GB video card. The system is used for games and video editing.

Long story short, I need another port SATA 6 Gbps. I tried to order a card Startech out of Amazon, a PEXESAT, with 2 internal and 2 external ports 3221. I put the riders for in-house, in accordance with the instructions, and my PC would not boot at all. I still had no video to see what type of error it was, as appropriate. PC stops after 10 seconds, don't try again, no luck. Take the card everything starts normally. Check the drivers, also those on the cd, even trying to download the most recent on the site of Startech. Nothing works. I have for a Highpoint RocketRaid, which came yesterday. Problem is, it has the fat PCI-e connectors. No luck on that front, either. They finally reached Startech technical support, he said probably a chipset compatibility issue. I'm supposed to check with my HPE-250 based Iona. One thing I noticed is that drivers will appear not as being installed, and my Board of Formosa was built with Intel Sata, who appears in Device Manager. What is the conflict? Will be that the Platinum support third party RAID card? My ultimate goal is to change put the hybrid with a SSD pro Samsung 840. I do a lot of video editing, so Sata 3 is a must,

Where I am now, it's that I found another Startech card on the HP store. This is the PEXSAT32, which has only two internal ports and not riders. He also said he uses native Windows drivers, as opposed to their. This will help? Or is the root cause of built in RAID Intel? Thanks for any help you guys can provide...

Yes! Who did the trick. It is the conflicting chipset. I had the PEXSAT32 this afternoon and it was immediately recognized. Only problem I had was that Windows said she doesn't have a driver for the Marvell chipset. I found it on the site of Startech. He ran and he was running. I goof and hooked my SSD who had BONE top pay-per-view, which resulted in a "training"not accessible "error.". Switched around and it loaded right up. Haven't really run of a landmark, but all my programs seem to run faster than ever out of the map.

Here is the driver for the card, in case someone needs it: http://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/HDD-Controllers/SATA-Cards/2-Port-PCI-Express-SATA-6-Gbps-Controller-Card~PEXSAT32#dnlds

Thanks for all your help. Now I will go to 32 GB of RAM, (I bought a Windows7 Pro update today) and the Samsung EVO. Think I might try to upgrade the PSU, the 600 stock me kind of worried about being hungry juice. I think a 850 watts. Have a great day and thanks again! Brian

  • Adding second DVD - Rom SATA HP Pavilion with only 2 SATA power connectors.

Try to add a second SATA DVD Rom but do not see more SATA power connectors?  I tried to discuss with Tech, desperate!  Don't understand.  The system came with a SATA hard drive and a SATA DVD/BlueRay so both SATA power connectors are used.  I do not see another SATA power connector in the system, but there are at least 2 connectors SATA DATA more on the system board.  You can even add the old style DVD of as the connectors on the system board do not exsist for the old style DVD ROM.  What they do a converter to SATA power adapter or am I missing something?  Strange.

If there is not a spare SATA power connection, maybe sometjhing like this would help:

  • Adding disk hard BIOS setting

I added the 1 TB SATA drive.

Now things are going wrong after reboot without initial flaw. No USB, slow performance. Starts at W8.1, but something wrong with the USB devices.

I see a short menu at startup. says press ctrl-I to define the two hard drives. However, this brings me to any hardrive settings.

I looked in the BIOS setting and the disks are configured in RAID. Is it OK? I haven't changed anything!

Thanks, nice to hear that my settings are good. FYI the SATA drive was an ext SATA disk with only data, not bootable. I'm not going to change anything more. However the Sharkoon had a USB connection too that I had to use when my system recovery with Norton disk recovery disc. But the last time was already a long time and now I have True Image as a backup utility.

    But end good all good.

Thanks again for your support in this matter.

  • Suddenly V. slow start-up - how to remove the 'mouse Microsoft & detection (USB) keyboard driver?

OK, I have a common problem with starting my PC under Windows 7 64-bit. It was all pretty quick start for the last month or so that I had installed. Then it started to freeze for several minutes (anything from 5 minutes to 10 minutes) during boot to the Windows loading screen.

Since then, I tried different things so he can start normally once again, including the tings which should theorectically not affect him as they have all been there before this problem started and starting very well, this includes:

Looking at these latest material changes such as I added HD
Change the SATA disks on (I've got 3)
Get startup in MSconfig to use cores max (this is a quad core) & memory (4 GB)
By looking at the files bootlog (Nothing don't jump other than I apparently trying to load a couple of drivers twice - I have listed this morning at the bottom of this message for reference bootlog)
Recovering to a point a month before the problems started in the hope that it will be possible to uninstall the newer drivers that might be the problem, and that's where I noticed what I believe could be the cause, as seems to be the point where it went wrong.

I had added a Microsoft Mouse and keyboard and the WU offered an optional update from:

Microsoft Microsoft mouse - other hardware - & detection (USB) keyboard driver

After installation of this I'm pretty certain that the softstart right down, so I tried to uninstall it. Only I can't find a way to do it. Like when I do a restore of the system to a point before the driver install and the problem that occur, this is not the driver, that just seems to keep. I then uninstalled Intellipoint mouse and keyboard and re-installed mouse PS2 standard. At the same time, I removed my Microsoft Mouse Wireless USB keyboard &, all without effect. I restored my system again and I'll be back to what, according to me, the problem is who is the...

Microsoft Microsoft mouse - other hardware - & detection (USB) keyboard driver

But with no obvious way or to withdraw, I can't confirm that.

    Other notable points:
During the startup, the HD access is constant, so it works like crazy.
The keyboard will be insensitive to things like capslock or numlock if for the first six months of waiting, when NumLock is on and for the second half of waiting, when NumLock is off. I think that my default setting is for numlock off the coast.

Help, it's torture, especially when you see that the sub boots 10 seconds on the web.

    Cheers, Jamie.

  • NMH305 cannot start Media Server

I just bought a NMH305 and have updated the firmware to 3.18.4. I implemented such that provided and all right and the Media Server worked and could be detected by the media players on my local network. I then added a second 500gig SATA drive and it was quickly recognized. I put the linear Raid 2 configuration (for a total of 930gigs). I was able to move files on the disk configuration and everything seems OK.

However I'm unable to activate the Configuration Server / media to on. When I click on activate the media server small pop - up appears, but the options to "Find media shared on my network" is grayed out. If I then click 'Submit' nothing happens for a few moments and then upcomes another popup saying ' Media Server is disabled. GoTo settings/Services to enable your media server... "

I can enable and disable the itunes, ftp and other options in the page configuration, one Server - the only Media that interests me really wont one more.

Can anyone offer any help?  Thank you very much

Thank you, Wilins377, that did the trick. The machine has reset itself to factory firmware, and my files are all intact. I can now update the sile system and the media server is running. The system is asking me to upgrade the firmware later, but since everything seems OK, I'm inclined to leave well alone.

    Thanks again.

  • Copying files vmdk, checksums do not match

I'm under esxi 4 currently, and I'm going to migrate my vitrual servers into an esxi box 5. I added a stand alone SATA Server esxi 4. I stop the virtual server and copy the files from the old data store (a raid 5 array) on stand alone drive (data store). The virtual server has several readers and I so 4 vmdk files to copy. Initially, I copied the vmdk files using the data store Navigator. Once the copy is complete, I used the md5sum command to verify the integrity of the copy from the original and the checksums do not match. I then attempted to use the CLI and issued the-i vmkfs command to copy the files individually (one at a time). Yet once checksums do not match. The size of the blocks on the two data stores is the same (4 MB), so I'm not sure why my checksums do not match after copying. Is this normal? The server has no snapshots etc.

I used this link for the correct procedure-

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 900

It might be possible that there is bit errors that occur during the copy.  I've seen this happen even with high end RAID controllers usually get fixed with firmware updates.  You can check if there are updates for your controller.

To find out if you have bit errors, try the following:

Make a copy of the chart on the single disc and check the md5 on the single disc.  He notes down.  Make a second copy (probably the same) of the table on the single disc and check the md5 second on the single disc.  If the two s md5 on the match single disc, then there is something in the copy mechanism that is edit the files slightly and causing a different md5 of the original on the table.  If they do not match, then it is likely you have found errors of bit of the controller.

If you choose to use your laptop computer, back up the data on computer portable th. and burn the iso image fo ESX 5 on the disc.  Then put the ESX disk in your laptop and boot.  You will blow out Windows in the process, but you might have an ESX Server, when you are finished.  I say maybe because VMWare does not directly support laptops.

Since you said that you were studying at the review, I recommend that you buy a dedicated VM server.  You can then install vSphere client on your laptop and have access to your dedicated server.

If your budget allows, pick up a Dell PowerEdge 1950 off ebay for around $200.  Put at least 16 GB of memory in it.  I added a 1 TB SATA hard drive to mine.  Other brands of servers also works, but the PE of Dell 1950 was the least expensive way (that would go ESXi 5.0) I found to go about this when I started studying for my VCP.  HP works well too, but then you enter generation specifiic questions... for example, DL380 G3 wont 5.0 ESX but a DL380 G7 desire.  They are always the same machine, but different versions.  It becomes confusing.  That's why I stuck with Dell.

I now ESXi 5.0 is installed on the hardware, and then inside that I'm running (2) ESX 4.0 servers and a Windows 2008 Server for vSphere.

  • Dell XPS 410 memory capacity

    Hello

I have a XPS 410 aging badly need of an overhaul.  It is a great machine that I have maintained quite well for the past nine years.  Currently, it has 3 GB of RAM installed (1 x 2 GB and 512 MB x 2), but I wanted to start with the RAM upgrade.

The motherboard has been replaced 2 years ago, and the person who repaired told me that it would be useful to simply upgrade of components if I have the skill.  When it was sold in 2005/2006 he says he has a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but I've seen many posts (which are a few years, btw) it could contain 8 GB (4x2Go RAM modules.  I was wondering if it can be improved to 12 GB (4 x 2 + 2 x 2) or even 16 GB also (4 x 4 GB).  I guess it comes down to, you can install a 4 GB RAM module? or is too high to 2 GB?

Intend to do a small upgrade RAM, adding SSD or readers, another small upgrade RAM, replacement of processors and perhaps eventually adding a map interface SATA if it would be beneficial.  In the end, the only original thing to this device would be the card reader, network card and the case!  Thank you for any advice you can give me.

You can not go to 16 gig.  8 GB is possible but only with compatible non buffered non ecc non registered Ram of LOW density.   DDR2 is dead or missing since the retail channel.  If you get a Precision T3500 opportunity that uses DDR3, you're more likely to keep it for a few years.  The max ram is the same precision 380 or XPS400.  You have 4 slots, 4 x 2 gig is possible as well as 4 x 1 gig.  You can find a T3400 precision with 4 GB or more of ram is the same as the cost of 8 GB of ram only.

  • Configuration of the bios/add another SATA drive

I just added a 500 GB Sata Drive in my Dell8300. I cloned it with the info of the Sata 120 GB drive came with the system.

I left the orig. cable/HDD attached as he was to the Mboard and plugged the new drive in the free sata connection.

When I go into the bios, the only way I can get the new boot disk is to turn off the device of the orig. If this isn't the case, it will boot to the old drive.

I guess I have to swap the cables on the sata connector of Mboard for him to start again disc? Or, can I I put in place in the Bios to do? (I tried, but in vain)

Also, when I get it started properly, how can I do to get Windows XP to show both drives in Explorer? At present, if I have two drives is enabled in the bios, it will start on the old disk, but not to show new disc in Explorer...

Just a guess here, but I wonder if, because the old drive has been cloned on the new drive, I have to rename the drive letters to get to show?

Motherboard is Dell 0W2562 and BIOS: Dell Computer Corporation A03 19/09/2003

    TIA

    J

1121 is EOL, end of the sw-support was August 27, 2014. I'm 5-4-0-46-7 running on my device. I'm upgrading to version 5.5, and I read this post - https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12076866/1121-upgrade-52-55. So I know that it is supported.
