18 Alienware uses Kepler GTX 860 M

I got my Alienware 18 for two months, and I rally like him. However, I download GPU - Z and discovered that she has the GTX Kepler 860 M, which is quite a bit slower than the new Maxwell 860 M. I don't blame Dell for the use of the GTX Kepler 860 M as much as Nvidia to trick customers into thinking that they are buying the latest GPU technology when they get a GTX 860 M. Why not use another bill by referring to old technology? If the new GPU has the designation of the same number as the old model, how can we know the difference until we have the system? I wish always, Dell would have included the GTX Maxwell 860 M with 18 Alienware.

Maxwell variant is designed for OEMs to weld on thin systems and light, it is not replaceable by the user and the means you may have to cancel the whole system if they go wrong.

From my experiences, Dell likes to use the replaceable GPU so technicans can put a new in when they need to... it's what's the version of Kepler.

  • 4 GB Nvidia GTX 860 m.   Will it work?

I'm considering buying a laptop with a 4 GB Nvidia GTX 860 m.   It is not on the list of supported cards, am I able to still use it for Premiere Pro?  I don't know a whole lot of tech, just how to edit.

many video cards are not listed in the list of supported cards, but most work very well. in older versions of adobe software, such as cs6, by default, they cannot only some video cards, but current versions are no longer restricted to some cards. It should make use of this gtx 860 m very well.

  • No performance difference using Nvidia GTX 1070 against 970 GTX?

I've been running a Nvidia GTX 970 on a machine Windows 10 with Skylake 4.0 GHz 64 GB ram and Lightroom/Photoshop CC. I recently acquired a GTX 1070. Does anyone know if using the 1070 GTX would make any increase in performance over using the GTX 970 in Lightrooom or Photoshop CC? Also the faster architecture for a 1070, 8 GB of DDR5 ram memory and a 970, 3.5 GB DDR4 games. Don't know if this makes a difference in CC as Adobe is not write code to take FULL advantage of the GPU. This is probably a question for engineers from Nvidia, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

    Thank you.

    lol... not even close.
Adobe has really bad support GPU.

I've spent a GTX 970 to a GTX 1080 and I don't see any improvement in speed at all in lightroom.

for photoshop im not sure at 100%. I Don t use 3D in photoshop.

with my daily work (edition 24-50MP images and panoramas more) I Don t notice a difference either.

Maybe there are a few features that operate more quickly when compare you to them.

but noticeable when faster with PS... nope not my experience.

  • Differences in the performance of nividia geforce gtx 860, 870, 880 first last on

Hello guys, I'm about to pass a big load of money on a new laptop and I was wondering how high the power difference of performance between geforce gtx 860 to 870 880 on the latest edition of the first's. It's really the question of the difference in price of about 800 euros, so before decide me on this matter, I would really like to know if it is worth. Once again: there will be a considerable advantage to work first with the geforce 880 or 870 as opposed to 860?

Hope someone can help me here. Thank you

See the compatibility list first. I don't see any of the three top! They CAN work, and I think that these are more recent model processors that are specifically designed for CUDA.

Don't know all about laptops, but on the desktop the other variable (which you don't mention) is the amount of RAM on the video card itself. 800 euros is a huge difference; If the RAM is the same, and all three are on the list of compatibility for playback of mercury, I don't know that you can justify the difference. If the RAM is 1 GB on the cheapest and 4 or 6 on the most expensive, it's a different calculation.

I speculate that the differences between these three cards would be more apparent to players for video editors, but that's just my opinion... what makes the difference in the first is the fact that transcode the video RAM made and perceived effect much faster as the RAM system can, and to do so effectively, it takes like RAM video as much as possible. I think it's the number you want to watch, rather than 860 vs 870 or 880.

  • ENVY 15 t-K200: ENVY 15 t-k200 doesn't use NVIDIA GTX 850 M

I have an ENVY 15 t-k200 (K2T37AV) with processor i7-5500u, 16 GB of ram, Intel HD Graphics 5500 and NVIDIA GTX 850 M running Windows 10 64. The problem is running any application requiring the use of the NVIDIA card, the computer does not him.  I went into NVIDIA Control Panel to select the NVIDIA card as the preferred graphics processor and selected the NVIDIA for specific programs, no change in performance.  I've updated all the drivers, no change in performance. On paper, this computer must manage the games and apps that I use without problems, but running 3DMark benchmarks, I get very low scores and any graphic training application that I use is minced.

Please help... How can I get my graphics card work properly?  Is there a bios setting I need to change? Or?

    Thank you

I contacted HP Support directly (funny, I thought it was part of the HP support). In a Nutshell, it 1) uninstall the NVIDIA driver and card 2) downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA and 3) installed the new driver.  I checked that the computer was once again work correctly, go to the NVIDIA card if necessary using a program of video reference I used to diagnose the problem in the first place.

The problem seems to be that if you're updating the NVIDIA driver without uninstall the old driver first, something is not and the rocking computer is more on the NVIDIA card when necessary. The NVIDIA Control Panel will be simply install the new driver updated without uninstall the old driver. Even if you go to HP or NVIDIA and download updated driver directly, or advisor to uninstall the old driver before you install the new driver.

Even if you install the driver is the latest driver, follow these steps if the NVIDIA card does not work as it should be.

I used 3DMark demo to diagnose my video card, when he showed my computer run better than 0% of the tested systems, I knew there was a problem.

  • can I put my s410p ideapad for geforce 720 m to geforce gtx 860 m?

Hi I read it somewhere nut I forgot where, but it say I can update my gpu card. is this true?

Good day and welcome to the community.

In itself, there is no 'card gpu', in your machine. While it is equipped with a discrete GPU, it is welded to the system board and therefore not expandable.

    Hope this helps to clarify.

  • The NVIDIA geforce gtx 860 m compatible more recent?

is this compatible with the gpu acceleration?

Absolutely, if it has at least 1 GB of video memory dedicated, you will need to help them become available because he is not currently listed in the tested file (cuda_supported_cards.txt) which is in CC 2014.  All you have to do is either remove the file or add to it.  There are several versions of this GPU so performance depends on what you really have.  Some versions have 1152 carrots or some have only 640.  Clock speeds vary and amounts of VRAM also.  If your question cannot be answered without much more details, but in general, I would say that Yes.  I looked at many laptops that everything would work...
