2 GB RAM recognized as 1 GB

I installed recently 2GB of RAM on my computer (which already had 2), but since he was running on the 32-bit version of Windows 7, only 3 GB appeared as usable, but after I've upgraded to the 64-bit version, my computer always said that there is 3GB. I tried to change the RAM of the place cards and turn on the PC with only one and the new is always recognized as a 1 GB card.

Any help would be useful.

This means that theres a problem with the ram you have installed, IE it's not compatible, or it's a bad stick (assuming that your sys indeed supports 4 GB of ram)

    Hey Buddy,

Before you start a lengthy discussion, you should post which model of laptop, you use. Maximum use of RAM depends on the motherboard, chipset and BIOS.

But now that it sounds like that the modules are not compatible to your laptop.

These problems are typical, when someone buys a product or incompatible products name.
My advice is to return and buy compatible and tested modules of RAM. What you need is 4 GB DDR2 - 800 MHz module, with PA3670U-1M4G part number. It seems that the RAM you bought must be right, but... What is the brand of this module?

Best brand for the Rams is KINGSTON.
    Check it out on KTT800D2 / 4G.

Is RAM recognized if you use only this new RAM (slot A)?

By the way: your Satellite can be improved up to 8 GB of RAM. Cool!!!

  • Mac pro (early 2008) suddenly doesn't recognize RAM

Model: Mac Pro (early 2008), 2 x Quad Core Intel Xeon 3.2, 20 GB (should have been 24Go - only recently realized that Genius bar replaced RAM they lost with bad spec, so we have to work outside 20 GB for now), NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB, startup disk 500 GB SSD, 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM, 2 TB SATA 72 RPM.

O/S: Yosemite, 10.10.5 (14F1509) (to date). Waiting for the seeds with Adobe in El Capitan to be ironed out before the upgrade.

Background: Mac runs slowly, and the fan is constantly on high even if Mac is not that much. Checked, only 16Gb 20 Gb showing, which then deteriorated to 12 and finally 8 GB of RAM.

    Checks / actions so far:

-C' IS good RAM for this machine, IE 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, provided by Apple.

-All the RAM recognized before (he's been there more than a year and the last time I looked, it was see 20 GB, which is what is inside).

-DIMM is properly matched on boards.

-Boards are fully seated in the riser.

N ' had not moved machine or s/w recently updated.

-Removed and replaced DIMM, which dumped first tips of handling static etc. carefully according to the instructions from Apple. This resulted in reduction of recognized with 12 GB of RAM.

-Again re-allocation of places 2nd; It resulted that 8 GB being recognized.

-Same report (8 GB) I look under > memory or under Activity Monitor > memory

-No obvious problem with DIMMs or connectors; No dust, scratches or crud.

    -Replace the LANDAU and SMC

Now at the end of the straps with a job to get out (and Lightroom being a bigger dog than usual with only 8 GB of RAM. I read all the posts I can find on this point, can't find anything I did not... Ideas please people?

The FBDIMM used in these Macs run hot and die. You did probably nothing wrong, and there is none of the extrinsic factors that prevent your RAM from functioning. DIMMs indicate does not are diagnosed properly - they're dead.

You can buy more if you want to run more.

Make sure that you buy DIMM modules with the huge heat sinks and Apple has approved the temperature probe, or they will die sooner.

As a preventive measure, you can use a third-party program to modestly increase the fan speed.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - 2GM RAM but only 896 MB recognized

    Hello
I have the same model and similar problem then would not start a new thread.

I just removed the stick a 512 mb and replaced with 2 sticks of 1 GB, but when I check in system information it shows only 896 MB.
This should be about 1 800 MB, I think.
What I have to change all the settings so that it can recognize the two sticks?

    Dave W

    Hello

There s no need to change the settings in order to recognize all the RAM.
The BIOS should detect the two RAM modules automatically.

In your case I suppose that a module of RAM was not recognized and therefore shows only 896 MB.
The small part of RAM is located by the graphics card and is why it shows only 896 MB.

When stop & restart lappy dvd - ram is not recognized by the system, or BIOS, the light on the flange of the discs is on but when I press the button open nothing happens. I installed the latest firmware, I also don't you any driver of indevice error messages sound as if the reader is not installed, but the light on the drive is turned on but does not open.

    Some1 can help me please?

Follow the instructions posted by Akuma. Maybe this can solve the problem.

Also, I checked the Tecra M5 user manual. There is a list with compatible DVD players, and your new drive is not listed. Not every drive is compatible with any laptop.
If it doesn t work get the reader to the merchant computer buy a compatible player that is listed in the user manual:

  • Upgrade of RAM in my Satellite Pro A100 (PSAA3E) was not recognized.

    I have a Pro A100 (PSAA3E) with only 512 MB of RAM.

I added another identical stick but only 1 has been recognized.
Each stick is recognised individually in each slot, but never as a 1 GB together. Thus, the two sticks are ok and two slots are okay!

How can I remedy so that both are recognized?

Did you use one that is recommended by Toshiba?
Seems the two modules aren't compatible together hmmm seems very strange.

How you did upgrade the memory?
You must disconnect all cables and remove the battery. Then install the memory modules and enter the BIOS. There, you should check if the memory has been increased and set the default BIOS. Don t forget to safe settings!

    Good luck

  • RAM is not recognized on Satellite L650-1MC

    Hello guys

I have a Toshiba Satellite L650-1MC with an i5 480M CPU and 4 GB DDR3 PC3 - 10600 (2 x 2 GB modules). Today, I got a 4 GB of DDR3 PC3-8500 module to upgrade the RAM 6 GB. I put this new module in and he was not recognized, perhaps because it was PC3-* 8500 * not * 10600 * like the original other two modules.

However, when I tried to put one of the modules of 2 GB DDR3 PC3 10600 original in once again, he was not recognized or the other! I then left the second empty slot, with nothing in it, and he acknowledged the 1 module 2 GB in there. Do you intend the PC3-8500 module "corrupt" the memory slot, or is it not positioned properly, as seems to be slotted into a fine; It will not move.

I would really appreciate your help

    Tom

    Hello Tom

There must be a compatibility problem. Forum is filled with similar reports. You should only use compatible and tested modules.
I highly recommend to use modules from Kingston.
Compatible RAM for your laptop model you can find on http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/lines.asp?root=uk&LinkBack=http :// www.kingston.com/ukroot&Manufacturer=tos&search_type=

  • Satellite L20-153 - upgrade RAM not recognized

    Hi all

I just put an extra 1 GB of RAM in my laptop so there should be 1 and a half GB in there now, but Windows only recognizes 896 MB. When I run pc Wizard it say to me that 1.5 is installed.

Any ideas why Windows XP won't see it, I updated the BIOS and most of the other systems, any help would be appreciated.

    see you soon,

    Hey Buddy,

If PC Wizard recognizes the two RAM modules, I think that more RAM is used for the graphics card and other device devices (shared memory).

Just to be sure, can look in the BIOS the amount of RAM is it recognized? 1.5 GB of RAM, if recognized, everything is ok!

  • After RAM upgrade on stick Satellite L30 - 10V single RAM is recognized

I just added a stick of Ram 1 GB Crucial in the L30-10 (PSL33E), but only the recognized 1 GB, the Hyundai stick (512 MB), which shipped with the laptop is no longer used by the system.

I tried to pass it around, but I can only get 1 stick of RAM to work at the time, is 1 GB, when the two Rams are placed in slots or if only the 1 GB is installed or 512 MB when I leave the 1 GB.
Do you have someone at - he managed to get 2 stick operating simultaneously, on this system?

BTW, CPU - z recognize the two sticks and reports correctly 1536 MB, the BIOS but only 1 GB, in fact less, since some plans to unlock the graphics card.

The version of the BIOS on my system is V2.80, dated 05/03/2007 and the two memory are the same speed PC2-4200.
