  • MICROSOFT WINDOWS ME SAID "LOGIC TO ADVISE SECURITY 2.5.3 HAS STOPPED WORKING" WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? IS IT SERIOUS?

THIS MESSAGE APPEARS SEVERAL TIMES AND RANDOM WAY AND CONTINUES IT SAYING WINDOWS WILL CLOSE THE PROGRAM. AND IF A SOLUTION IS FOUND - BUT THEY NEVER DO

For me looks like you are infected or "Logic of security adviser" does not work as it should.  In my opinion, that makes no sense to advise Microsoft security.  If the 'logic of security adviser' is defective, you must contact the vendor for this program.

In addition, you have installed Microsoft Security Essentials?

  • Should I run F-secure and Microsoft security patches.

Should I download the Microsoft security patches.  I have F-secure antivirus software on my computer and they said not to come in any other capacity.  I understand the issue of conflict, but I'm not computer savvy enough to know if it's antivirus protection that conflicts with F-secure or repairs for Microsoft software.  Thanks for your help!

You should definitely download and install all the patches 'high priority' security offered by Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

You must install not "optional" updates and do not have to install updates of hardware (drivers).  If you think always that you need to update a driver, get it on the site of the manufacturer of your computer (especially for laptops) or of the author of the particular piece of hardware.

F-Secure advises (correctly IMO) that you don't have two active antivirus applications at the same time.  Security patches and one-off analyses (for example the monthly download of the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool) do not appear in this caveat.

  • URI dialing problems

I started a new job and have been invited to support our video-conference equipment, I have limited expereince with kit v/c, however I have several years expereince with network & unix, so please take it easy.

I have a C20 of Tandberg & C60, which are both on the public ip, I don't have a VCS or a bridge of some sort. I can dial directly to any intellectual property, and they can call me directly. However, I can not dial all numbers that require a string of URI style ([email protected] / * /).  Just quick call fails and no reason given.

I have a MSD Setup who can see both units, I can also connect to the web interface, the tsh & the command-line as root on both units.  I googled about as much as I can, but cannot understand what may be the problem. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to what file newspaper or the config setting I should be looking, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Stephen Bancroft wrote:

I have been testing from the C60 which has software version TC4.1.0.247017

    And there is your problem...

You cannot use the URI dialing with software versions prior to TC4.2 unless the system is registered with a Gatekeeper.

Cisco only introduced full support for H.323 Annex O in TC4.2 - you'll need to upgrade your system.

As is the case, you can dial IP address.

If you do not have a service contract in place, you will still be able to upgrade the device as per the below security advises:

    http://Tools.Cisco.com/Security/Center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/Cisco-SA-20130619-TPC

Contact TAC for the release key etc.

  • Can someone advise me on AVG Secure startup and file tree bloat remains removal search suggestions?

Recently, I used the solution to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/927950?page=2#answer-364990 by KerriB. It worked. However, I still found traces of the bloatware in two other places. Not sure if I should remove them or not. Suggestions? I've included pictures of the locations (slightly rewritten for security reasons).

We're in my startup programs. Access: Mouseover an open space on your desktop. Press the Windows key and the R key at the same time. A dialog box appears. Type msconfig. Click the Startup tab. It lists all the programs that start at startup. As you can see, ask VProtect and ROC_roc_ssl_v12 are listed as unknown manufacturer, but in the file tree, they are in C:\Program AVG safe search.

The other location is accessible via start, then choosing computer, drive Local (c) (your local drive can be a different letter, obviously), Program Files. As you can see, there are a whole folder FILLED with elements of AVG safe Search.

I have a support ticket open with AVG on this issue, but it is the weekend, I can not hear back for a few days. I'll let everyone know what they advise when back from them, I hear.

    UPDATE:

I complained to AVG, and they offered me a free license for their 2012 AVG Premium paid... Security edition o.O... anyway, I wrote them back asking about the remains above and they responded by sending me a download of a special uninstall program (you have to install - go irony!). I have included a picture of this email (3).

After running the uninstall program, I ran a cleaning of the system, and a deep cleaning run Advanced Systemcare (my favorite Cleanup utility), did a restart, then did a search for 'AVG '.

As you can see (picture 4), I * STILL * had a folder filled with AVG, accessible by clicking on start, computer, C:\.

I've done a shred secure deletion (again, and Advanced Systemcare tool, but simply to delete probably would be nice) this folder of AVG. Yet once, I ran a cleaning system, and a deep cleaning run Advanced Systemcare (my favorite Cleanup utility), did a restart, then did a search for 'AVG '. This time, nothing came. Great! right? No. I wanted to be * SURE * it was ALL gone, so I opened Windows Defender (the included firewall that comes with Windows 7), expanded the menu on the drives to be analyzed and down-and-this is, look, you know, a $AVG (image 5) HIDDEN folder!

Now, I have to show all hidden folders to find. Which is done by clicking on start, control panel (change display by: small icons), Options records, (popup window), display tab, then check the selection dot next to "Show hidden files, folders and drives", apply, OK (see image 6 for description). Now go back to start, computer, C:\, and it should show the hidden $AVG folder. If that does not show it, you can also do a search and delete the search results folder. Yet ONCE, I ran a cleaning system, and a deep cleaning run Advanced Systemcare (my favorite Cleanup utility), did a restart, then did a search for 'AVG '.

I feel now that I am completely free of AVG. I hope this helps you get rid of it too!

Norton security advice I don't need Norton security for online shoppin and Apple covers this. Is this correct?

    Thank you

Currently, there are no viruses that affect the iOS devices. As long as you only buy from reputable sites, you should be fine. You should consider your shopping while using a known and trusted WiFi network (or cellular data if your iPad). The public WiFi networks can be a problem.  No technology don't protect you if you give your information to a person not worthy of trust.

No, it's a phishing scam. Not to call, email or click on the links. Just delete the email and you will be fine.

If you want to confirm, sign in to your Apple ID/iTunes account directly and your billing or sold story. Do not use one of the links in these emails.

  • While on Firefox, I get a warning that I need to apply a patch of security of full screen

The full page WARNING seems authentic, Firefox logo, etc. I am advised to click on a link for the patch. However, the address for the sender is looking for suspects. I copied it and if a search engine has checked and it is an entity of the Government of the County. Unfortunately, I lost the copy so cannot send it. This seems very odd. I have the latest version of Firefox, and I suspect that someone is trying to me to click on a link to hack my computer. I just wanted you to know. I had this "security alert" at least half a dozen times during the month. Can this be true?

IF you mean a .exe Firefoxpatch what is called then it is known and false. This .exe if installed can put Cryptolocker on your Windows that locks the files.

Mozilla does not update Firefox on randomly selected sites.

Updates to Firefox are made internally in Firefox (with a file .mar) or by download on www.mozilla.org or www.mozilla.org/firefox/all
