4240 memory question

I have a unit 4240 IPS he uses 1371 of 1893 and has only 522 left and is climbing. Is this normal and if is not how to clear the memory, so it does not use so much memory?

They will tend to use all available memory. Unless you start exchanging on the disc, don't worry in this regard.

  • Tecra A3 - 106 Intel Graphics memory Question (915GM)

Hello, no doubt this will be a strange question, but please accept my apologies, I can't understand it well...

I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 106 with 915GME 128 MB Intel graphics card... He used to appear as a memory of 128 MB on my system, and somehow, it is now limited to 64 MB probably after update my drivers or a change to the settings of this unit, somewhere...

I recently updated my bios to v.2.50, could this be the reason? or the most recent driver for the game? (I am currently on 6.14.10.4543)

I know that I must be blind I can't find the setting for this... But I need your help...

    Thanks in advance...
    Onur.

EDIT: I realized that it is a thing of BIOS 90%... Phoenix BIOS 2.50 does NOT contain an option to change the graphic committed memory size of 64 MB to 128 or vice versa... My previous BIOS was this option in the tab "Advanced"... And... I can't downgrade to the previous version as installer does not support the downgrade... PS: I checked the Windows settings this topic... Not found no apparent solution...

    Edit2: Found this link about the question on the Toshiba site: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1079 556xml & sliceId = & dialogid = 1150837 & stateId = 0% 200% 201 152026

Obviously, this is a bug in the BIOS and the source suggests that v1.70 and newer versions are fixed... I REALLY DON'T THINK!

ANY IDEAS TO GET AROUND THIS?

    Hello Onur

The link you posted from TOSHIBA U.S. page and I assume that you have a European model of laptop. If you want to update BIOS please use Toshiba European page. The United States from Toshiba is like another firma and it isn't really the same thing.

If models of laptop computers in the United States some problem it doesn? t means that all Toshiba laptops have the same problem.

I checked that your model of laptop shared graphics memory card. I guess you know what that means and the fact is that units with Intel graphics card have no parameters where user can manually set the amount of memory must be used. On ATI graphics cards settings it is possible. I checked a few notebooks similar and in the Phoenix BIOS I didn? t find anything. Because of this, I'm really confused when you mean that this option was available on the ADVANCED tab.

I really hope that someone who have the same unit as you can give us a good info about it.

    Good luck!

  • OptiPlex 7010 memory question

I just bought an Optiplex 7010 of Dell Outlet and have a question.  Technical guide to the 7010 says that each of the four DIMM slots can handle up to 8GB memory modules, but said while the system maximum is only 16 GB.  I know you must have Windows 7 Professional or ultimate edition to access more than 16 GB. If you have that, this motherboard supports more than 16 GB?  If I added two 8 GB sticks to the already installed 2x4gb, it would work, or would the machine does not work or recognize only 16 GB of it?

Well, I've just answered my own question.  I bought 2 sticks 8 GB of RAM Kingston meant for the 7010, sold by a number of places, including Dell and added to my system.  It works very well, and the BIOS and Windows displays 24 GB installed.  I have no doubt 32GB should be fine, too.

A critical caveat, however.  You must use Windows 7 Professional or ultimate edition to do this.  If your operating system is Windows 7 Premium, only 16 GB of RAM will be recognized.

Reference Dell must correct its erroneous documentation.

  • Media of blackBerry Smartphones and memory Question

Silly question maybe, but... when I open an audio file (such as a song or a clip radio or something similar) online to listen to it, but I didn't save it on my BB, I used no memory just by doing this? Does this question make sense?

When you open the file attachment, it goes into the "attachment data" database and cannot be removed unless you remove the message that contains the attachment.

When you open the file from the browser, just in the browser's cache until it is cleared

  • SGA and OS memory Question

    Hello

Solaris box 16G memory, is it OK to assign 14 GB of memory for data bases and to 2 GB for the operating system. Basically, my question is does oracle use only the SGA memory or should he memory of BONE on top of SGA...?

    OS = Solaris 10

    DB = 10g

In this case, if there is more number of created, Oracle server process they will starve for memory and will get finally in Exchange. Swap is disc, so it will slow down operations.

Think about other processes as expdp/impdp or other processed utility triggered by your backup/restore operations. They'll be dead slow.

  • Compaq DC5750 series desktopPC: compatible memory question

Will HP P/N 404574-888 1 GB memory in my Compaq DC5750 series desktop PC?  I know that the PC has 4 memory slots and I think that the memory must be installed in sets of two.  I have 2 GB total now with maps two memory supplied with the PC and there are two empty slots.  I was hoping to put in two additional 1 GB memory cards each to spend a total of 4GBs of memory.  Running Windows 7, I think that I have a memory bottleneck in the performance of the PC.  When I go to the Task Manager, my memory is already 87% used after a fresh reboot.  I appreciate comments.  Thank you

What is an MT or SSF?  Here is a parts reference guidefor the Mt.  To the #2 page, the 1 GB is part # 398038-001, and here's a price.  The reference you gave 404574-888 is PC2 6400, if your system is PC2 5300 latest 6400 will return to 5300.

  • Portege R700 - upgrade Windows 7 32-bit to 64-bit and memory question

I recently bought Portge R700 and am disappointed by the memory. I have a license of Windows 7 64-bit edition: what problems can arise if I update? Once installed, I can then use 8 MB of RAM.

Moreover, I found the reagrding misleading Web site the option of using the 8 MB of RAM with the32-bit OS. I have 4Mb installed, years to see that only 2.86 MB is usable.

I get "out of memory" messages and would like to know how to allocate more memory to live for video.

Tom's right. If you want to use the 64-bit operating system, you must do clean install operating system. All drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities must be installed Additionally one by one.
If you need assistance with installing Win7 let us know.

I put t know for what purposes do you use your laptop and what applications are important for your daily work, but, in general, I don t think you will have problems using 64 bit OS. Please keep in mind that all additional software is 64-bit capable and everything will be OK.

As far as I know laptop user doesn't have the influence of the use of video memory and it runs automatically. It is unclear to me that you can change these settings and set how much RAM can be used for video operations.

Anyway, Portege R700 is nice for laptop with sufficient power for daily use and also for use with standard applications. I don t think you ve bought this laptop for games.

  • Equium A60 - 173 memory Question

Hey guys, I just used the recovery disk to reinstall windows xp after that I had a few problems and now when I look at the information system, it is said that the total physical memory is 512 MB, but the available physical memory is only 151 MB I was wondering why it is so low that I have not yet installed all the programs and this has something to do with me using the disk of recovery?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I'm not sure about this, but I think your laptop is just currently using 151MB, because there is no need to use all 512 MB. Maybe this can be changed in the BIOS or so.

    Good bye

    Hello

You will need the SDRAM PC133 modules.
Buy the Toshiba recommended modules you on the right side.
I found these modules that are recommended by Toshiba.

    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

  • DDR2 memory Question (550 HP)

I have my laptop HP 550 1 GB module by Hyundai Electronics with an empty slot.  I ordered a Crucial 2 GB module to replace it - BUT I wonder if even if they are different brands of memory - it will be normal to leave module 1 GB in slot #2 as it is now and put the new Module in Slot #1 with no problems.

I had two conflicting opinions elsewhere, some saying he will correct and another saying 'do not' - these TWO guys are quite well experienced with computers. I thought that it is better to come here first to get into the heart of the matter so I don't screw something upward.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this issue. I will probably upgrade my Vista to Windows 7, which is why I need the extra 2 GBs and hoping that I can still use the old module for a total of 3GBs.

    Hello

It should work without any problems.  In General, there may be benefits to buy identical modules (ie the same capacities and manufacturer) If your motherboard supports Dual Channel.

I wanted to know where I can see how much memory is allocated for the process of video and possibly increase it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

As far as I know the graphics driver automatically assigns the shared memory.
You have the Intel GL960 GPU. I'm wrong

In this case the Intel reader control shared together memory and you will not be able to manually change

If you want to have more than 4 GB of memory, then you must convert it to a 64-bit operating system to use.

  • Caching memory question

Seems that almost half of the 2 GB in the system is cached. Don't know where to look to find out what is happening and how to stop it.

    Hello

Vista and Windows 7 use entirely different memory of the XP and earlier versions of Windows as they
before cache to improve performance. If programs are in need of more memory then Windows will publish some
    the cache as needed.

This method allows memory to do extra work, after all the memory that is 'free' does not do
    something useful.

In Manager tasks note on Total - cached - free

CTRL SHIFT ESC or right click on taskbar - task-> Performance tab Manager

and at the bottom, note the % of physical memory

Start - type in the search box-> find information system at top - double click it.

    I hope this helps.

  • Printer HP Photosmart 2410xi memory Question

Hello.  I'm trying to get confirmation that the printer HP's Photosmart 2410xi has no internal memory which could potentially store images of printed documents.  I think all memory installed in the factory in this printer would act as a buffer for print jobs and would not store stores the images of printed documents. A friend asked whether it would be prudent to make a donation to the printer, so I wanted confirmation for them if possible.  The have not installed the external memory card in the printer.  Thank you!

HI - it has 32 MB of DRAM, but as you mentioned, the memory just acts as a buffer.  It is not a printer page like many of the LaserJet, where it receives the entire file in the memory of the printer.  Both have not all memory cards into the printer, the printer will not keep all the files in its internal memory.

    Hope that helps.

  • IPS-4240 design question

I have two IPS 4240 s that can be placed between our internal network and our extranet firewall. The game of firewall is your pair of standard assets/ASA-5520 switch connected to both switches.

Q1 - if I'm not worried about atomic attacks, is there another advantage that IPS inline on promiscuity?

Is Q2 - If inline or promiscuity, necessary to connect the unique IPS for two switches in order to receive packets when a failover of the SAA occurs? If so, does physically or through RSPAN?

Q3 - if the IPS fails and it is set online, interfaces fail open (traffic continues to pass) or closed (traffic is removed)? I couldn't find that on the Cisco site.

    Thank you!

"Promiscuous" mode, you can use a 4240 and extend the output of each switch in two interfaces of remote sensing of the 4240 (it has four available). A single 4240 should even be able to set up TCP sessions that span the two rails, as in the case of a failover.
