4540 proBook s: failure of the laptop

Laptop bought in January 2014 send for repair September 2014. (Book 1.Note was freezing or restarting at first and then did not start at all.)  2 hinge on screen came out and then broke) fixed all but the hinge of the screen. Refuse to pay R2000.00 for a factory fault. Five months (February 2015) by the hard drive starts giving questions. (Laptop takes long to access applications, files and guard-on reboot.) Report defective hard disk diagnosis). To send the phone in for repairs every 6 months are waste of my time. I rather will get rid of the point in the landfill and buy a reliable element of another provider. Reliability of HP products cannot be recommended by me.

Thank you

It is not impossible that the new disk is bad, have seen before. It is also possible that the controller sata on the motherboard is bad, but I'd watch this last possibility. You can get an Exchange on the new hard drive?

  • HP ProBook s 4540 - we found that all the disks during the installation of Windows 8

    I have some problems (re) - install Windows 8 on a ProBook s 4540.

The laptop had a virus so I decided to reinstall Windows 8. I bootet with a Linux rescue CD and made a backup of my personal data. Then I erased the hard disk (using Gparted) (except the first two partitions (System and boot) and with the HP Windows 8 DVD rebootet.) I see always the reader and various partitions, but Windows won't let me install on any of them. So next time, I tried to create two partitions with Gparted directly, but now, I am not at all a player and get after the error message:

We have found all the disks. For a storage driver, click on load a driver.

I googled a bit and I tried to switch between IDE and AHCI in the BIOS, but that did not help. Then I copied most of the pilots of the Assistance Center on a Flash drive and walked to the proper drivers, but no luck. I also tried to look on the Application and Driver Recovery DVD provided with Windows 8 directly but no luck there as well.

I'm a bit at my wits end now, any help would be really appreciated.

Don't know if it's the Board correct, please move if not.

I deleted the partition windows 300MiB and now I can see and select some readers in windows install again. The problem is that windows will not continue because of various errors. (See attachments)

The problem seems to be that my disk is dynamic. I found a guide to convert the hard drive back to base. So my question is, this will help her or my HP DVD awaits the dynamic hard disk?

  • boot from the disk HARD second 4540 probook s

    Hello

I replaced the optical drive with a second HDD on 4540 ProBook s. I read of this 2nd HARD drive but I could not configure BIOS to boot from it, and boot device options lists only the first HARD drive.

It's pretty common. Simply because the BIOS is written to boot from an optical drive connected to this port does not mean that he will start on a hard drive. I don't think there's any way to boot from the hard drive adapter in the optical Bay.

  • ProBook 4530 s: grinding noise near the vents when I turn on the laptop.

Sometimes when I turn on the laptop, a loud grinding noise is heard from the left corner, near the vents.  I think that's probably the fan.  I turn off the laptop because it doesn't seem like grinding stops.  Then when I turn it on again, grinding noise disappeared.  The fan needs to be replaced, or when the fan needs to be replaced?  Is this easy to do?

Alternatively, the problem could be something else?

I guess I'll try to do that, but the noise I hear is very strong, as something very bad is grinding

This could be the lack of fan or some a little debri is inside the unit that should not be there.

  • ProBook 6470b: problems after format the laptop and load the W7

    Hi all

    Here are my problems:

After 2 years using the laptop, I decided to format it and reboot with the disk W7 of professional origin.

At the same time, I exchanged the original SATA HDD with a new SSD in Kingston.

After you have installed all the drivers, it seems to work very well and much more quickly, but has two problems:

1 - the automatic update of Windows does not work. Only is looking for available updates, but it ends, even > 24 h research.

    2. before reinstalling, my battery lasts for 5 hours. Now only 2 to 2.5 hours.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve my problems?

    Thanks in advance.

    Good, glad it worked

Have you had any success with the BIOS settings? Contact HP support directly for this may be a good idea here.

    Hello Fiona-s,

Thanks for posting in the Forum of Support HP!

I'm afraid that the HARD drive has failed - the question is material one and all simply restore/reinstall will not solve it. Yes, you need to replace the HARD disk new or better with the SSD. SSDS are up to 10 times faster than hard drives:

There are more than 100 manufacturers and sellers SSD, but personally, I would choose Samsung, Intel, Toshiba, or OCZ ones.

Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 have supported for SSDS. Vista and XP - no

You will need a recovery media to restore the windows once you have installed the new SSD or HARD disk.

You can get possible by contacting HP Support. Here's how:

  • hard drive failure and replacement of the laptop pavilion dv6-1000

It seems that the hard drive has failed in the laptop.  When I run a test gives me a message 3f0 and hard drive does not exist.  Tried to start the repair system and the operating system not found.  Would fix with the image of the system.  No found boot device.  Conclusion: new hard drive required.  The laptop drive is a seagate momentus 320 GB 5400,6.    Do I have to replace it with a new seagate or can I use a Western Digital with the same 320 GB, 5400 rpm?  Thank you in advance.

    Hello:

WD should be fine and if you want to use a disc 7 200 RPM faster seek time (at a small cost of battery life between charges) you can go with this too.

I can't use the SD card with my G2 450 driver. I inserted the SD card into the laptop, but he acts as if no card is inserted. I opened the Device Manager and it showed that there may be other problems with the PCI device and unknown devices - they have an exclamation point. I used the Troubleshoot utility (not for the SD), but none of the problems have been resolved.

  • «Caching of connections from domain to Vista laptop fault for * some * users, which gives the message "failure of the trust relationship «»

    Greetings!

I have a laptop wireless problem Vista Ultimate on a domain that has a strange behavior when taken off site. Of course, I'd appreciate some thoughts on what could be the problem.

When the laptop is used internally, it works normally and is used by two people. Person "A" is the main user, person "B" is a secondary user who connects is rare. Domain authentication works normally and thankfully.

Sometimes, however, when the laptop is taken off site and brought in a different wireless network do not have access to the field, strange behavior of logon follows.

When the person 'A' tries to connect, they receive two messages:

"The system event Notification Service failed to logon"

"The trust relationship between this computer and the primary domain failed."

Yet moments later, what person 'B' opens a session on the same laptop in the same place, the logon succeeds and the laptop runs normally.

Presumably, the two openings of session would be finished via the credentials cached, so there is no reason at all to imagine that each account should be treated differently. However, it is precisely the situation that I see. Something is apparently originally person 'A' logon to be handled in an unusual way, I can't explain or stop.

When this laptop is returned to its primary location, resumed normal operation, all users can perform normal logons domain-based, and no errors occur.

If it was simply a problem of not being on the same wireless network and by far the field, I expect to see something in the sense of a message «could not domain controller be contacted...» ", but this is never; and he would likely by all users, no not one. It behaves almost as if caching credentials for the person 'A' are corrupt or non-existent, neither of which is logical.

Other portable computers used by many people (using various combinations of XP, Vista and Windows 7) and taken offsite have * never * experienced this problem. They operated with credentials cached just like you would expect.

I suppose that a complete reconstruction could solve the problem, but I prefer not to go nuclear on this particular area if it is not necessary. There must be an if explainable, eccentric, the mechanism at work here cause this problem.

Thank you very much in advance for the help.
