  When I try to update Windows, I get the message "Windows could not search for new updates" and meet an error code 80004002. I try to get help but find no reference to this error, only error 8024401 b.

  Hmmm... I would recommend so then boot from the Vista DVD and execution of the restoration of the system from the recovery environment. See here for more information on how to get there.   Good evening. I'm having a problem with Windows Update and you receive the following code: 80004002: could Windows not search for new updates. My laptop was bought in 12-08and no new updates have been received. I'm a Windows Vista 32 bit operating system. I use McAfee Security Center. I can't identify me if that's the problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

  EDIT: Also, Exe files have large black boxes where text describing the files should be, install IE8 has large black boxes on where it should say "get the latest breakthroughs: etc.." and no matter what with just a simple text box is blackened, any help please.

  I have problems with cd burning and I get an error code 80004002... What should I do?... I already cleaned the cd and they type of cd is that I used all the time. Also, when I went to windows media player I clicked web help and they said to choose a speed slower recording, but after that I clicked on burn and more options... I didn't know where to go from there... I don't see the burning rate box that they are at.
