  After a failed installation of Adobe CS 4 on my Windows Vista Business 32-bit system, I am now unable to update or uninstall anything Adobe on my PC.   If you receive the Windows Update 80246008 error when downloading updates, you might need to change the (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service or the Windows event log service settings and restart each service.

  Method 1: Unregister and re-register (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

  a. press Windows + R key and type of BIT /Unregister. and then click OK.
  b. press Windows key + R, type BITS/REGSERVER, and then click OK. After you run this command, the operation is complete.
  c. check to see if it helps.

  Method 2: I suggest you run the DISM tool and check if it helps.
  1. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, enter in the right edge of the screen, and then click Search. Or, if you use a mouse, point to the corner bottom right of the screen, then click on Search. Type the command prompt in the Start Search box, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

  2 type the following commands. Press enter after each command.
  
  Note may take several minutes for each operation in order to fill.

  · DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

  · DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

  3. close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.
  DISM creates a log (% windir%/Logs/CBS/CBS.log) file that captures any issues that the tool found or fixed. %windir%\System32 is the folder in which Windows is installed. For example, the %windir%\System32 folder is C:\Windows.
