  Hi all

  I understand the benefits of the use of site templates to help improve maintainability so you only define the header, menu, and footer only once, but change the 'content' on each page.  My question is, if I use a template with my menu of links to other pages, is there a way to change an aspect of links depends on what page I look but always use a template for the menu.  To be clear, I know how to do HTML/CSS coding every page individually, but not if I use a Dreamweaver template.

  There are several ways to do so. Here are two.

  1. If your menu html code does not change, only the styles that affect its appearance:

  • put your menu inside another container (this could even be the body tag, but I use a bowl for just the menu for this example)

  • According to the code model, place your cursor inside the div topmenu opening tag (in the tag itself, not only in the div).
    • go to modify > templates > make attribute editable... (This is a different menu than insertion > models >)
    • In the pop up dialog box choose "class" (or add if not one there already)
    • check the 'editable attribute brand '.
    • Enter a name "makes sense to you... for failure, menuClass.
    • Let the type in "text".
    • Enter a default value for the class. (in this case 'by default' can be a good choice.)
    • Your external menu div will now have a 'topmenu' id and class that is editable in any page based on the template.
  • Make the menu styles by default in your stylesheet.
  • For the other sections, define styles with a more specific rule.
  • In the model itself, it's a good idea to add comments after the div that remind you what are the possible classes:
  • Now, when you create a page based on this template, you can go to:
    Edit > properties of the model
    and change the value of 'topmenuclass' to what is appropriate.

  2. If your menu HTML code must be different for each section of your site:

  • In your template, create your menu in the optional region (do NOT use an editable optional region)
    • Insert > template objects > optional region
    • Give it a name that makes sense, like defaultTopMenu
    • Let the 'default' checked.
  • Create the menu of each section within another sector in option
    • Give it a name that makes sense, like sectionOneTopMenu
    • Uncheck the box 'by default'.
  • Now, when you create a page based on this template, you can go to:
    Edit > properties of the model
    and chose what optional region you want to have displayed on this page.
    Simply change the vale to the default menu optional region that you want to see the value 'true' and 'false' (there is a checkbox for this)

• Incompatible recovery disc with my computer model.

  I have HP Pavilion Notebook dv9074ea. Windows Home Edition SP 3. I just burn two DVD recovery. When I started with the #1 recovery disk, I got the message: this recovery CD is not compatible with your model of computer (paraphrase - my OS is Norwegian). I am very proud of my computers altruism because its creating discs for other recovery models computer, but it is very frustrating for me to be the owner of this particular model.

  One thing struck me as odd however: he says that this 'CD' is not compatible, even if it's a DVD.

  Is this a common problem? Do I have to burn the CD 12 instead of 2 DVDs? (wait, I can't burn a new version, it is a time thing)

  I hope you find your experience of positive Support Forum! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that your display is not coming properly, but you can start in safe mode. I'm happy to help you with this.

  Because the system operates in Mode safe mode, it allows to narrow the problem, although it's going to be associated with the graphics card or its driver.

  Something you might try is to remove the existing display using Device Manager driver of in Safe Mode and load a generic display driver.  Then, try to pitch it up normally and see if the computer is in place. Remember that you set the screen resolution to something a little more useful to you before moving on to a normal start to the top.

  If it starts normally then you can try the preferred display driver update with a new installation.  You can try the HP Support Assistant for the driver if you have not already very practice. Computers HP - using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7)

  If the pilot goes and the system works properly, then you should be good. If this isn't the case, then the card probably has something wrong with his ability to use his "higher functions".

• Computer will not receive Comcast Digital adapter (DTA) receiving TV signal

  Until recently I had used a tuner for my computer (and Media Center of course) to access all cable channels I ordered via Comcast. In other words, until Comcast made the switch to digital, which means I need a decoder adapter digital transport (DTA). After the switch, and before that I'm the DTA, I was able to receive broadcast TV channels, but not basic cable (for evidence, I was able to record a show on a channel on my DVR).

  I got one of the Commission yesterday and followed the instructions to a T. Among these non-tamponnage my cable output directly from the computer and to the contrary put through the DTA, then a coaxial cable linking DTA to the computer. Unfortunately, Media Center told me that I had no signal TV at all (and therefore that I couldn't even check how worked the DTA). Comcast technicians told me that the box has been activated and it worked, so the problem is probably the communication between the Commission and my PC. The PC is not received the signal from the DTA, and I have no idea why.

  Some features:

  Windows XP 2002 OS, running on PC Gateway GM5066E, Media Center came with the machine (purchased in 2006/2007 or most), built in TV tuner, I have all the equipment/remotes...just IR no TV signal

  According to my instructions, the IR blaster NOT plug on the back of the DTA.
  The only thing that plugged into the back of the DTA is the COAXIAL cable from the wall and
  the power adapter cable. and you do NOT use the cable/IR extension which has been
  provided with the DTA. See point #5.
  You may need to buy a cable blaster if it did not come with the gateway.

  Most laptops and many OEM desktop computers (HP, Sony, etc.) come with a picture of factory restore on a special partition on the hard drive. The factory restore process is normally called by pressing a key of function (such as F11) to start the computer. There will be a message as to what function key press the screen when you start your computer. You can also consult the manual of your computer or the computer mftr.'s site, or contact technical support to learn how to restore your computer if you plant from each computer mftr. He does it differently - sometimes even between models.

  These machines also generally have a utility to create physical recovery disks in case the hard drive needs to be replaced or the factory restore image is somewhat damaged. If you have not created the recovery image recovery physical and/or damaged disks, contact technical support of computer mftr. to order a set of recovery disks. It is normally very expensive, around $20-25.

• Why my computer (windows 7) would a 'sleep' mode while I am on the internet or just doing some stuff on my computer?

  Recently I ran into a few problems with my windows 7.  Everything first, just a week and a half I am upgrading my antivirus/spyware program and a number of times I want to restart the computer.  I managed to get into my computer without difficulty the first time, then the last restart, I couldn't enter my computer!  So, I used the recovery disks and started fresh and I also bought another disc of the same product antivirus/spyware, installed and put in the new activation key and thought I was standing (there was some problems under reliability, he says Microsoft register server has stopped working).

  This morning, I have the problem that when I'm on the computer (either on the net or just doing some stuff on the computer), it goes into mode 'sleep' and I have to enter the password.

  1. What is brand and model your computer?
  2. What anti-virus program is installed in the computer? Do you have problems running the program?

  The error "Microsoft register server has stopped working" usually arises due to the DEP data. In addition, your computer past "standby mode" reflects a possible problem with the installation fails, the anti-virus program or due to a misconfigured power management. So, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

  Method 1:

  Try to run the electrical troubleshooting utility and check if you get the sleep mode issues.

  The question may arise also because of any conflict of third party software. So, I suggest to start your computer in a selective startup called, clean boot and check for the issue.
