A network hard drive can be added to a Windows 7 Homegroup and if so, how?

Working groups & network HD

I have windows 7 on my 4 computers networked, more 2 Western Digital NAS hard drives.  I'm trying to find a way to add hard drives to network to my homegroup in Windows, but found no information if you or how to get there.  A network hard drive can be added to a Windows 7 Homegroup and if so, how?

Hey Tpm,

I suggest you to see the following link:

  • Hard drives can be swapped between two windows 8 portable

I bought a Toshiba Satellite 15.6 laptop "with 8 GB of memory and a HARD drive of 1 to 3 months ago. I just bought a second laptop for my wife, this time following a 11.6 "ASUS with 4 GB RAM and 500 GB HARD drive.

Given that the ASUS is much smaller and portable and I travel a lot, I would like to take on the Toshiba HARD drive and insert into the ASUS and replace it with the 500 GB drive HARD to the ASUS. My wife would be perfectly happy with the largest and Toshiba. These are the two machines of Windows 8. Of course I will do a memory swap as well, but I already know how to do this and I don't know for sure it will work... so no question here.

    Other things that worry me:

-The Toshiba is NOT a touch screen laptop computer

    -l'ASIS is a laptop touchscreen

    (1) swap will work?

    (2) say it works, the touchscreen on the ASUS functionality will continue to work with the Toshiba HDD inside?

Does anyone have suggestions/tips/advice for me to complete this task.

Thank you very much in advance...

    Conrad

    Short answer to your Q

    (1) NO.

    (2) not relevant due to (1)

Unless you plan on downloading a lot of video or games 500 GB is big enough

8 GB of ram require 64-bit win, while the 4g needs than 32-bit win

If you install more ram on a 32-bit win, anything beyond 4 GB cannot be used

    Hello Andrew,.

Thanks for your reply. I tried to connect the NAS to my computer but I don't have an ip address other than the IP address of my own system.

Well, I tried to reimage using the tool provided by technical support, it solved my problem and the interesting thing is that my data is also available and it did not wipe out.

I follow a few more days and will let you know if the problem persists.

  • Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition on windows 8

Hello, I would like to know how to use disk hard mid with a computer running windows 8, instalation CD software doesn t work

Hello, configure your Media Network Hard Drive Cloud home edition Windows 8 (.1) is quite easy.

You can consider installing the update 8.1 for Windows first...

But nonetheless go to the Lenovo Web site and download the latest version of the LenovoEMC Storage Manager.

    1.4.4.14439 worm.

It works somewhat like the Iomega software former.

(Assuming that your device has the latest firmware installed and everything is set up properly it should work fine.)

I wonder that you do not find MK1011GAH as replacement. I googled everywhere and there are tons of stores that sell this hard drive.

Then, go to www.google.com and type 'MK1011GAH' and it is. You will find many shops selling this drive (the disk price is about $ 180-200)

You must specify a linker flag this option in the header of the image of fs9.exe because FS9 is a 32-bit application and use 2 GB of virtual address space.
With the indicator largeaddressaware under your 64 bit OS, it is possible for FS9 to use up to 4 GB of address space.
Get the SBB Explorer (http://ntcore.com/exsuite.php) open fs9.exe, header to open the file then click on 'Click here' and mark "App can handle > 2 GB addresset", save and close fs9.exe.

To restore the software preinstalled on the computer, or to install disks:

Contact the OEM computer manufacturer and ask them to send you an installation to your computer disk - they may charge a small fee. Contact information for the manufacturer of your computer can be found here:

I have a HP dv7-4296nr, partition recovery and recovery disks. Now, I want to change the current HARD drive to the new HARD drive. But I wonderring after I change the HARD drive, can I use the restore disc I burned before reinstalling windows?

    Hello

Yes you can.  Your existing set of recovery disks will not only install the operating system on the new hard drive, but will also reinstall all of the original software that came with your laptop as well as re - create the Partition D of recovery on the new drive.

Hello, how many hard drives can adapt? I would like to keep the included hard drive but also add a small ~ 30GB SDD to Windows host on. Is this possible or is it just a free SATA port?

  • I'm trying to run a program back to 7. I know it is not possible, but anyone who has used dosbox? And if I load xp on an external hard drive can I have essentially two separate computers?

How can I run a program back through windows 7? DOSbox? zinstall? Or loading of a xp via external hard drive? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

DOSbox or BACK (or XP or another 32-bit version of WIndows) on a virtual machine.

An external hard drive can be used only if it is connected by SATA (not USB). In this case, it seems to be an internal drive.

If you have Windows 7 Professional, you can use XP Mode. Otherwise, use VMWare Player http://www.vmware.com/products/player/, Virtualbox http://www.virtualbox.org/ or Windows Virtual PC http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx to host your virtual machine.

  • Equium A110-252: which HARD drive can I use for an upgrade

    Hello

I have Toshiba Equium A110-252 with a 60 GB hard drive.
I have left of a few GB and the need to expand the hard drive.

I don't know what type or size would be compatible with my laptop.
In addition, it would be the reason for all my applications running very slowly?

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Equium A110 is very similar to the Satellite A110 and two portable computers should support the same kind of HARD drive.
As I m not wrong not you need a SATA 2.5 HARD.

If the laptop supports the 60 GB then use the 80 or 100 GB should be possible also.

    Check it out

    Good bye

  • Disabling a hard drive in the Device Manager make it stop spinning and using power?

If I go into DEVICE - DISK DRIVES MANAGER, then I right click on my second hard drive internal (not hand on which Windows Vista is installed, but my extra hard drive that I purchased separately and added inside my computer on a SATA port), and then click DISABLE, then can you tell me if this selected hard drive :

    1 stop rotating?

    2. always powered?

In other words, DISABLING a drive hard internal in Device Manager stops it to use the power and spinning?

The reason I ask is the following: I want to use this second hard drive only for backup, this is why I don't want to use the power and wear when I'm not a backup, in other words, almost all the time.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Well Yes and no--or it depends on the BIOS - Controller - the inner workings of the drive and
usually, they will follow this path:

A Second hard drive uses the power when not used?
    http://www.ehow.com/about_5333434_second-power-not-being-used.html

Don't forget there is a report which do not use the drive to maximize your comfort removes
most of the advantage of not to use regularly to preserve its life expectancy, which is a little questionable
anyway. If use you really only rarely, and then it does not start and stop much, then you
could have extended his life (or not). If the drive is the size, it could be put to better use
then extend his life a little reward compared to the optimization of its purpose.

Here is a recent discussion however please note there is no 'right' way and certainly there
is a roll in all methods.

"Generally" things that have the most impact on life in car (assuming that no default) are "generally" heat,
so frequent starts and stops and finally use. The problem is it is almost impossible to
really effectively control the last two unless you use rarely drive. (Problems of food can
also impair a driver, especially brown outs (low power) and voltage spikes.

    I hope this helps.
