A point of access for different networks

Hi all

I need to use an access point in several places: my house, my gf, my office. I intend to use the same device for all 3 places.

My problem is: 3 local networks have different configurations (192.168.1.x for two, 192.168.0.x for another and the doors have different addresses).

If the access point could get its network with DHCP setting, this'll be fun. I looked inside the different pdf manuals, and the Linksys access points seem to not be designed to be a DHCP client. Maybe I'm wrong? Or maybe someone has another idea?

You can configure WAP54G DHCP client mode. There are two available options.

    Hi guys,.

Could someone help me on how this can be done? I couldn't find that it documented somewhere... Maybe I'm just blind.

    any help is appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

Oh, OK.  It is not difficult.  I don't have any document or anything, but assuming that you already have your separate groups already set up, here's what you have to do (in ASDM):

    1. Access Configuration--> Device Management--> users / AAA--> user accounts
    2. Select the user name that you want to assign a group policy
    3. Click on 'change '.
    4. In the pop-up window, click VPN policy from the menu on the left
    5. Your first option right must be group policy
    6. Uncheck "Inherit" and assign a group policy
    7. Click on 'OK '.
    8. Click 'apply '.

Repeat this step for each user name.  That should do it.  I would like to know if that's what you're looking for.

  • 4 x WAP4410N VLAN for guest network

    Hi there everyone,

You want to have a problem of my resolved.  I am running 4 x WAP4410N access points configured with one corporate ssid with WPA2 Enterprise authentication that points to a server in network access protection.  What I'm trying to do is to add a second ssid to all my points of access for guests only and cannot connect to the departmental resources/devices.  I think I have to VLAN so that it works correctly.

Four access points in various parts of the building are connected and are wired in different switches SG300.  A port on a SG300-52 in my server room is plugged into a port on my firewall that I would use for DHCP.

What should I do to get this working correctly?  At the time of my comments to test network is not even give an IP address to the devices, which I think is related to the VLAN.

I do not know what ports I leave the identified tag-no, how to configure the VLANs on multiple switches, etc.  Any help would be appreciated.  It was suggested to me that I could use dedicated to guest access separate access points, but I like to keep the amount of access points down to the minimum required.

I think you may have found the problem. I apologize I have not asked if you were on layer 2. I would have thought it.

If they all Layer 3, maybe you could just add a few routes? Switching is not my field stronger.

Personally as needed I just don't sleep 2 and use VLANs

  • I'm trying to access a wireless network with the password provided for me. I get the following error message

I'm trying to access a wireless network with the password provided for me. I get the following error message: "the network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 characters ascii or hexadecimal 10 or 26. "what does this error message mean and how do I address so that I can access the wireless network?

I use XP Professional with service pack 3. I get this error message every other time I try to log in to a protected wireless network security. I used to not get this message; but, now, it may be impossible, sometimes to call all wireless providers when I might only need for a short period or after hours service opening.

In addition, it is my computer that requires the network password to be different, not the provider of wireless. A password is given to me who works for other users, but my computer won't let me use it.

  • Adding 1142 points of access to existing wireless network

Is there that problems with the addition of 1142 points of access to areas that have existing 1242 and 1232 access points?  I have heard and read that the 1142 provide improved thanks to the function «clientlink» performance  The clients that we have are for the most part G, B and, N not much yet.  We have a few localized areas where users report a problem of intermittent coverage and is considering to replace an access point or two in the areas with the 1142.  For all new areas I intend to deploy the 1142 only.

    Thank you

    Al

No problem at all with the mix don't except that 802. 11 b / g and a customers will decrease the performance of the network. The 1142 s will have their talk with 54 Mbps and 11n clients are also suffering from their presence.

    But nothing too disturbing.

  • The same drive letter may point to different locations for different processes?

The same drive letter may point to different locations for different processes?

Our users have the E: drive mapped to one place. But I need a scheduled task in order to use the E: drive to point to a different location at the same time, without affecting the mapping of moose for logged in users.

There is no work around this need of ours. This is because users are working 24 X 7 update of our data files on the E: drive, and a log file is made. We plan prevent users for a minute every night while move us / save the log file and then allow users of the resume and allow a new log file to create. Then take the saved log file and apply it to a real set of monthly backup of data files, so the backup files will be ready for a recovery after disaster. The program that applies the transactions recorded in the data files is able to apply operations to files that are considered as being in the same exact location.

I know that's not possible without resorting to the application logs a set of files on a completely different machine. But I ask.

    Thank you

  • Not enough external IP for external network access

    Hello

I am a newcomer to Lab Manager and my Department has not enough IPs to work until several virtual machines on LabManager. If we think about the use of private network as 192.168.x.x address to create a configuration and we checked which is supported using the virtual network model. But the question is whether I would like that all the virtual machines in this network is able to access the external network vLabManager will try once again each of the virtual machines assign an external IP address that we are lack of.

So my question is the gateway for network in a configuration can be used as a router a provide NAT to allow virtual machines in a network deprived of access to external sites? Or other solutions better to solve our problem of IP all allow the virtual machines to access the external network?

    Thank you.

The previous reviewer mentioned that NATing is supported (VMware calls this "fence"). If you are exposing ALL the machines in your configuration on their own fenced address, you will not get IP address consumption savings you want. To reduce the number of IP addresses externally exposed in a NAT configuration, you should design your configuration so that only a single IP address is exposed through the fence. A similar debate along these lines took place here: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1245907#1245907

In a configuration of 4 machine you can put 4 machines on a network "dark." One of these devices will have to be multihomed on two networks. The hosted machine multi risk exposing his unique IP address either on the network or through a closed network directly. In both cases, only a single address would be exposed on your external network and you can use it as a gateway into the 3 other machines.

Would be nice if the router fence could be directly configured to support some simple flavor of tunneling. Currently this capability is not there.

  • can the WRT54GL router be configured to operate as a point of access/switch?

The router connected to the internet is a WRP400, and I've got a WRT54GL connected via PLN to improve the signal. I would like to have the WRT54GL work like a switch and point of access, is this possible? The problem is that, in order to have my TV box work, I need the WRP400 to assign IP addresses. Does make sense, and it is possible to make this work?

This makes sense... for many people... probably at least twice a day in this forum...

See here for an answer to this FAQ.

It can be done by using a different material.

Above all, you will be able to find this feature in our product business and it's called the HTTP redirect.

You can check some Points of access such as WAC720, WAC730.
