A small padlock appears on an element in folders in Windows Explorer

I've known several occurrences of a small padlock appears in the lower left corner of the items in a folder, while working within WINDOWS EXPLORER, which makes this indicate and how to remove them or turn them off?

This means that they are not shared folders.

  • New user account appearing is not in Windows Explorer (Windows 7)

I just got my reset of the HP laptop and I'm trying to set up a new account, I followed the procedure, but my new account does not appear in the list of users under Windows Explorer. only one generic user appears.

When you create a new user account in Windows 7, it prepares the system for the new profile, but does not create records.

User files are only created when a new user connects to Windows first. While Windows creates the folder structure for the new user, you will see the text in preparing your desktop on the Welcome screen. That's why the first connection to a new user profile takes a little longer than usual.

So to see a new user profile folders in Explorer you should first user or disconnection of the account used to create the new user, and then connect to the new user profile.

There used to be a small padlock in the lower right corner of FireFox which meant security before a private information such as a credit card number. I only see in FF 4.0. Is it now? How can I get that back? Is no longer a feature? (I don't see it in Internet Explorer 9.0, either.)

  • Windows Explorer crashes when I remove thousands of small files.

Not sure if it is a known problem, but windows Explorer tends to crash on me when I delete thousands of small files.  Can you help me?

    Hello social media - AndrewA.

Thank you for visiting the answers from Microsoft Windows 7 Forums.

I have some steps that may help you.

    Step 1

Perform a clean boot and check if the problem persists. Clean boot starts the operating system by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The following link has steps showing how to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    (1) Perform Clean boot (check the link to perform the clean boot).

    (2) enable half the services.

    (3) determine if the problem comes back.

    (4) enable half of the startup items.

    (5) determine if the problem comes back.

    (6) repeat the steps above until you find out which program or service is causing the problem.

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Note: Please make sure that the computer is configured to start as usual by following step 7 of article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.

    Step 2

Run a scan of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer that will replace missing or corrupt files.

To do this, follow the steps below:

    1. click on the Start button.

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories.

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option.

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option.

    5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press ENTER.

    7. a message is displayed indicating that "the system scan will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time.

    9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue.

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

    11. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

When 'file' - select 'print' on the tabs of Mozilla, it doesn't. The print menu appears, but when 'print' clicked, the menu box "save under" appears. This has happened only recently (update may). Tried it on Windows Explorer and all is ok

  • Windows explore collapsers/expanders missing directory, elements faded

    Hello

When I recently rebuilt my computer Windows XP,

Windows Explorer displays the directories differently in partitions nonsystem remaining versions compared to the new system partition.

    the spirit,
    (1) expanders/collapsers lacked elements of directory in the right panel, and
    (2) all items have disappeared in the right panel.

Apart from that, Windows Explorer accesses these items in same directory.

by comparing directories security settings in a non system partition of directories in the system partition, I don't see anything that would cause this behavior.

    configuration:
    Windows XP Professional sp3
    Pentium Dual-Core e5400 2.70 GHz
    3.24 GB of ram

I discovered that faded are items that the value of the hidden attribute and directories without collapsers/expanders are the value of the hidden attribute.
