  I recently upgraded to windows7, but when I updated the stored file my internet information disappeared.  Now I can't get my computer on the internet.  The information is stored on my other computer (via the internet connection wizard) but not in a readable file.  How can I check my internet connection on my computer that accesses the internet, so I can use the computer has been upgraded, without resetting the router.

  As most applications store user related data in there, taking possession of the appdata folder can cause problem to other applications.

  Try to run the installer as administrator by right-clicking on it and run as administrator.

  If there is a command prompt to change the location and then change the location check if it works.

  If the new user account probably works its a problem with the new user account.

  Therefore, you can transfer data from the old user account for the user account and to continue to work normally with the new user account.

  Copy files to the new user profile

  1. Log in as a user other than the user whose you copy files to or from the profile.
  2. In Windows Explorer, click on Tools, Folder Options, click the view tab, click show the hidden files and folders, clear the Hide protected operating system files check box and then click OK.
  3. Locate the: file \Users\, where is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed, and is the name of the profile to copy user data from.
  4. Press on and hold down the CTRL key while you click each file and subfolder in this folder, except the following files:
     • Ntuser.dat
     • Ntuser.dat.log
     • Ntuser.ini
  5. On the Edit menu, click copy.
  6. Locate the: file \Users\, where is the drive on which Windows XP is installed, and is the name of the user profile that you created in the section "create a new user profile".
  7. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  8. Disconnect the computer and sign in as a new user.

     Note You must import your e-mail messages and addresses to the new user profile before you delete the old profile

  So, you are not using a router and the computer is connected with a wire directly to the modem?

  1 - Go to network connections and right click on the LAN/Internet connection, and then click Properties.

  2 - highlight (click on) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.

  3. If your ISP says allows you to use a specific IP or DNS address enter in the appropriate box, if they gave you any set address the IP address and the DNS to get the addresses automatically.

  You receive messages or error codes?

  You can try to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter drivers and check.

  a. click Start and type in Device Manager in the start search and press enter.

  b. expand the network adapters in the Device Manager

  c. right-click on the device and click Properties

  d. click on Driver tab and click on uninstall the drivers and click OK.

  e. restart the computer and check.

  We can also refer to the computer or the device manufacturer's Web site and try to update the latest version of the network drivers.

  What model of HP printer work?

  If your printer is connected to the Internet and compatible ePrint you might find this approach for Surface printing works. EPrint application is not compatible with the Surface, still, if you click here you can access steps to activate ePrint and learn how to use the ePrint via e-mail method.
