A user of pc PSE8, need feedback for mac is currently using

I am currently satisfied with the ease of use and stability of the PSE8 on my pc what I do.  I intend to maintain my database of 39 000 + image move forward and not to add additional images to this database PSE8 on my PC.

I want to start a new separate database with new images on a Macbook pro, processor Intel dual core 2.66 hz Mac, 4 GB of ram, running 10.6.8 snow leopard, 7200 RPM hd.  As you can see, it comes to the technology in early 2009.  I want to use the application as a Photo Manager for a new database with separate images from the pc database.  I like the features of tagging and metadata to PSE8 and would like something similar to him.

What should I consider getting to the similarity of use.  I don't think I need all the new features of PSE11 and maybe my mac specifications would not give the best performance results.  Earlier versions of mac (PSE8) do not require "bridge"?  Not clear on that?  LR3 would be over-investment as well?  Thanks in advance for your comments.

    When you say that the printer is connected directly to the G4 with an ethernet cable do you mean that the printer is connected to the Mac (G4) with a network cable?  Or do you mean a USB cable?  If you are connected with a network cable, it must be a crossover cable (since you are not going through a switch or router).  A regular ehternet cable will not work.  If you are connected via USB, you should be able to find the printer.

    Normally I would use the "default browser" and do not use AppleTalk, but because your computer can't see the printer and you have an IP address you can try typing the IP address of the printer in the 'JetDirect Socket' option - if you are not connected via USB.

    Once you have deleted, I suggest to check and repair disk permissions: function to fix the permissions of all utility disk drive.

    I also run your Apple updates: OS x: Mac App Store apps and OS X update

    After the updates, I recommend you to reinstall the series HP ENVY 4500 full feature software and drivers.
