  I put t understand what is happening here. I have old P200 (similar to yours but with 17 inch screen) and when I connect the HARD drive as external HARD drive to my new P500 I have full access to all stored data.

  You can try this:

  Go to start => type "Device" in the search bar and open Device Manager-expand network adapters online => with the right button on the wireless card and select Properties => pass the tab power management and uncheck the box "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
