  • Behavior erratic mouse/Touchpad on Inspiron 15 5447

I had my laptop for a little over 4 months. I mainly use a wireless mouse with him... and every so often the mouse will have a mind of your own. I can be typing or even try to use the mouse and it will start to jump around on the screen itself... by selecting things... even of switching/Mobile windows as if buttons are pressed as well. At first I thought that maybe it was interference with the touchpad... so I tried both disable touchpad when external mouse is connected... and disable the touchpad altogether and the problem persists. So I thought that maybe the mouse is the problem, so at some point when he wents nuts on me, I turned it off and opted for the touchpad... but the erratic behavior continues. The only thing I can do about it is to restart... and then things are usually fine for several days before the question starts again. Any thoughts on what the problem maybe, or troubleshooting tips?

It worked - DELL has a terrible touchpad - there is a hardware ONLY problem affecting the series 3000, 4000, 5000 and 7000.  I bought a protective screen of the dollar for a dollar store, it worked where all software solutions had failed.

      Hello world!

Like you I had the same problems touchpad. At first, I thought it was ESD and troubleshoot-made for a few days. Finally, I concluded that he had nothing to do with the EDD and passed questions possible pilot. I installed every driver package I could find, modified, off driver signature in order to install OEM drivers, used Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Ubuntu etc... but in vain.

Early on, some kind of physical problem seems to be the most logical. The question was just what! I couldn't believe that synaptics could do such an aweful touchpad which was incapable of actually at work. I did support arguing that the question must be caused by something small. During my last clean install of Windows 8.1 I noticed that the default windows caused the touchpad driver is EXTREMELY sensitive. You will notice that once you install the latest driver from Dell the cursor movement calms down considerably. The touchpad is still extremely sensitive, the driver is just take the raw input all that and generalizing it in a cursor, easier to manage. Conclusion, the touchpad is too sensitive.

I compared this premise with my previous experiences and found much support each other. My touchpad would typically be panic after a lot of 2-finger scroll or a large number of movements of gesture.  Indeed, it would stop work entirely if I blew warm breath on her. Conclusion, I need to desensitize the touchpad on and protect... but how!

In my first attempt, I simply took the touchpad transparent and entirely covered with packing tape. Don't expect anything I ran my finger on it and revealed that the movement of the cursor is estimated much more controllable. I used it for 30 minutes like this with only a few minor problems. (My touchpad STILL freaks out in the first 15 minutes, so for me it was a big deal!) I asked a little more layers of Ribbon downwards and the feature kept getting better and better. Since I was best performance with several layers of tape and because the transparent packing tape is not look glued to your laptop I wanted to find a better solution. I needed a plastic resistant thick that I would stick to the surface of the touchpad and has no need of me to use many of the layers. Conclusion, use plastifieuses 3 m plastic.

On this second attempt, I disassembled the laptop and removed the touchpad of the palm rest area. I used a tampon Magic Eraser with a little water and very little SOAP to clean the surface of the touchpad. After that it was clean and dry I cut an oversized square piece of plastic lamination and placed the touchpad upside on the sticky side of the plastic. I then took a razor and carefully trimmed the excess by tracing around the edge of the touchpad. The result was a piece perfectly sized plastic on the top of the touchpad. I reinstalled the touchpad in the palmrest and reassembled the computer. (Please note that there is some tape of ground wire to the back of the tablet that should be reapplied during installation.)

I use it like this for 3 days now with ZERO problems! I hope that Dell takes knowledge from this post and comes up with a real solution. The black surface of the touchpad is itself just plastic glued on the circuit of keys using an adhesive. It seems that the simple solution would be for them to replace it with a more robust piece more thick. One thing I noticed is that the 3 m plastic is tougher than the original surface of the touchpad which makes it difficult to slide your finger over it. When I started my finger continued to jump on the touchpad which caused the cursor to jump around, however after a few hours he smoothed out nicely. You can have better luck using a different plastic as a screen protector of mobile phone since it was designed to have the fingers touch.

in any case, I really hope that this helped you guys. I was just as grumpy as you on this subject and I still think that Dell OFFICIALLY must do something about this problem! (DELL TAKE NOTE!) In the meantime, I hope this allows you to you guys and running and able to enjoy your laptop once more! Good luck!

  • erratic mouse movement__

I had problems with the erratic movement / the mouse for awhile... both at home and at work.  Questions like I've read, the 'resolution' is done (no pun intended) to the mouse itself or the driver.  HOWEVER... at home, I have a desktop computer Sony who is about 3 years old but systematically running updates and running Windows XP with the original optical mouse.  My laptop (at home) is about a year and will run Windows Vista, but I only use the touchpad on it.  At work, it's a Dell with a Logitech mouse (OEM) running Windows XP Pro.  As I said, I have problems with the mouse pointer / with EACH of these computers, where he randomly and erratic jumps around on the screen.  I highly doubt the mouse or the driver, because everyone has a different mouse - over is a touchpad.

This movement is very boring and annoying.  Help, please!

What are the three worst for the origin of this problem... want to rethink these chance?
And all 3 are known for this.

Only way to know is to completely remove one to test.

Then use the start-up in minimal mode and other methods of troubleshooting if necessary.

If it was a problem is Windows it would be tens or even hundreds of millions
    with the problem.

    Hello

Eventually, the software that controls the serial port or the device connected to the serial port is not fully compatible with Win 7.
I think that this should be checked first.
Maybe one of you should look for the Special Forum of the manufacturer of the software for more details

  • Flashing intermittent volume icon and the erratic mouse pointer.

I have a problem with intermittent flashing volume icon, when this happens, the volume icon is maximized and apears on the screen at the same time it is found in the taskbar. The volume icon will then quickly flash and cycle between silent and this causes the volume to sizzle even if no audio signal is coming through the speakers. At the same time as this, I often get a pointing device erratic which cannot be controlled and moves all around the screen if I try to move it.

Now for the strange bit. The volume control buttons do not allow the volume to be cut or modified when all this is happening, however if I hold my finger on the volume upwards or downwards, or the mute button this totall recuse the erratic pointer that I can then use again.

This problem is intermittent and random. I did a complete system restore and it still occurs. I noticed one thing, it is that keys icon flashing if sytem is working hard. Howvere, sometimes it happens at all.

I did sacans full of viruses and malware, but as I said it is still present after a full restore of the system. Im guessing it may be a hardware failure or a short circuit so probarbly will bring to a grumpy, but it would be good to have an idea of what it might be before hand so I do not be fooled.

IM on windows xp pro on a Dell latitude D820 almost three years but otherwise a fine computer

    Thank you

    Interzona

    Hi Interzona,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Erratic mouse and keyboard - more

My office model is P6 - 2375ea and is located in more than a year.  I use the keyboard and mouse wireless initially provided.

Everything worked fine until a week ago, when the mouse sometimes will not allow dragging of the bars of direction or is it scroll correctly.  Sometimes, it scrolls a single line and other times will be turned the entire page.

The keyboard fails to save a lot of key strokes and works intermittently.

I changed the batteries in the two pieces of material and tried to re-synchronization both now buttons 'connect' for about 10 seconds.  Still no luck.

Makes me crazy!  Any ideas please?

    Steve

After my last post, I looked back to the system restore and found more old restore points.  I didn't know that only the most recent have been posted.  Until after the Restore, the keyboard and mouse seem to work very well.

I also uninstalled McAfee and installed a new version, if it had an impact that I don't know.  I have however noticed that the mail program works substantially faster than before, so there is certainly a difference.

In any case, I hope that the problem is solved.  I think that your idea of uninstallng the two devices sounds good so I'll keep in mind.  In the meantime thank you for your interest and your help.

  • Roll on the text occasionally comment on erratic results, for example, first highlighted word and then no other product even if the mouse has not been published.  How can I fix it?

I have Acrobat Pro DC and Windows 10.  When you try to make editing comments, I find almost impossible to get the words marked (by rolling on it with the mouse button).  The blue highlight climbs around the word to Word or closed unexpectedly after rolling on a single word, even if the mouse button was released.

In addition, now that the strike and replacement tool has been eliminated, you are supposed to perform the same operation on the text to replace and, once the text highlighted blue, simply start typing the new text.  It works not.  After finally getting the right text marked, I start typing, and nothing happens.  I might have to select a tool (for example, strike-out), use and remove the strike-out, before the operation crossed out - replace works again.

I have used earlier versions of Acrobat Pro (on Vista) without such problems.

The problem I described with text selection was not with Acrobat, but rather with a failing wireless mouse.  Replacing the mouse seems to have resolved.  See erratic mouse, by selecting the problem of text - Logitech Forums

  • Windows 7 64-bit mouse pauses/freezes/stutters often accompanied by an event sound Windows

    Symptoms:

Erratic mouse behavior. Mouse hanging, the gel for a full second or more, accompanied by a Windows event sound, generally. Sometimes, there is just a slight pause and no noise Windows event. Sometimes the mouse acceleration changes after freezing. Sometimes, more rarely, my mouse will be dropped by the operating system... the laser light on the underside turns off and I have to unplug the mouse and plug it in again so he can be recognized.

What happens almost all the time. I want to use Windows mainly to play a game, World War II online: Battleground Europe. It is a shooting mmo first-person. This problem is annoying enough on the desktop. Unsuable for FPS games. I plan to have to file using Windows 7 64 bit for now.

I have this problem as soon as Windows 7 64-bit.

The problem with Windows 7 64 bit after trying many many solutions/solutions offered on the Internet.

I did not need to determine what event could be linked to it in the event Log Viewer, or if it is even an event that is be connected here.

NOTE: My mouse (G3) Logitech MX518 Gaming tips works fine, without any problems whatsoever, under Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit with all latest updates or on Ubuntu 10.4 (Lucid Lynx) 64-bit. I never had no problem with this mouse at any time under these operating systems. These operating systems will run an intensive game if I want to, throughout the day.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Steps in my last attempt to solve the problem.

I was looking not all parameters of the BIOS at once at the beginning. For example, I have disabled "Intel Speedstep" to see if that would solve the question. Then restarted in BIOS and disabled the C1E function when I discovered that disabling Speedstep alone does not resolve the issue. ECT, ect...

I have not installed Norton Internet Security 2010 for awhile while I tried various solutions of Workaround available and listed below in case this is the question. No difference, so NIS 2010 is now installed.

Remember, that this behavior occurs that when Windows 7 64 bit is installed properly.

    (1) clean install of Windows 7 64-bit, for the third time now

    (2) installed the Runtime Visual C++ 2008 64 bit v9.0.30729.4148 than kb973552/KB969706 downloaded from--> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=2051a0c1-c9b5-4b0a-a8f5-770a549fd78c

    (a) just in case Rebooted and then install the same version of the Visual C++ 2008 for 32-bit environment Runtime in Windows 7 64 bit

    (3) installed Windows 7 64 - bit drivers

    (a) Marvell Yukon 88E8056 Gigabit Ethernet on-board NIC Driver v11.24.5.3 (15/02/2010)

    (b) various software of Creative Labs creative Labs X - Fi Titanium 64-bit driver v2.17.0007 and all updates for them.

    (c) Software Driver of Intel Chipset v9.1.1.1025 (22/12/2009). Seems to just install an update from the hard disk of 64-bit driver.

    (d) ATI Catalyst 10.3 Driver

    (4) installed Windows updates

NOTE: I have not installed the latest four updates for now, three of them are security updates have a publication Date: 09/02/2010. I decided to not install these due to a mistake of "Circular kernel context logger" that I already saw in the viewer of the event log, recorded by "Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing" event ID: 2 now, I'm not having this issue.

NOTE: I also installed a driver in option, the ACPI ATK110 driver, which installs the following file--> C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ASACPI.sys - he has listed as the version of the file 1043.2.15.37 and dated 29/03/2005. In a previous installation of Windows 7 64 bit, I downloaded an update of the present of Asus contained in a file/AMDCoolnQuiet_Utility_V21801_XPVistaWin7.zip utility and installed. I started the utility and he gave me the message that my system was not supported by "Asus Cool ' n Quiet. It's ASACPI.sys file was dated some time in 2009, rather than in 2005. Since my last Windows 7 install, I have currently a bit the 2005 version proposed by Windows Update installed. I don't know if this file is to load or used by Windows 7 64 bit. But I wonder...

    Is this a problem?

    (5) installed software v6.00.68 Logitech Setpoint (Version 4.90.80 driver) for Windows 7 64-bit

NOTE: I have not installed this in previous installations of 64-bit Windows 7 and had hoped that this would cure the problem. No change, the problem still persists.

    (6) went into the BIOS and reset to the default settings

    (7) BIOS: Set A.I. OC (overlcock) to "Manual" and left to deafult values so that the CPU isn't overclocked automatically or manually sort

    (8) BIOS: Establish timimgs settings memory, memory voltage and the voltage Northbridge, according to my memory (memory Mushkin) manufacturer's recommendations

NOTE: Again, I didn't have never had any problem at all in Windows XP Pro 32 bit SP3 or Ubuntu 10.4 64 bit with these settings. These operating systems will run an intensive game if I want to, throughout the day.

    (9) BIOS: The value of Intel Speedstep "Disabled".

    (10) BIOS: C1E (Enhanced Halt State) value to "disabled".

    (11) BIOS: Set the Mode of the ACPI Power / Suspend 'S3' only '

    (12) BIOS: Set ACPI 2.0 Support to 'Active '.

NOTE: On, off, on any settings/functions above not has not solved the problem. I have I have not tried all the single 'combination', but in any case, make no change with the mouse.

    (13) in Windows 7, I selected the Option to 'High Performance' and the value "USB selective suspend setting" to "Disabled" with updated BIOS options as shown in steps 9 to 12 above

NOTE: With BIOS defined that way there is no setting "Processor Power Management" in the Options of food, other than the 'political cooling system' (active/passive).

I left this game to 'Active '.

    Is this a problem?

    (14) tried monitoring DPC latency with the download link for the "DPC latency Checker" utility No visible ears in the utility during the mouse freezes / breaks

    Hello again,

Can I have found the solution that worked for me. It is probably too early to tell, I'll need more time to be sure. But in case he solved the problem for me, I'll post what seems to have worked as suggested on a post, I came across from another forum. Consider a guy who tried many suggestions, maybe that's the answer. Heck, I had tried a few other things that I have said in my original post. But in any case, so far, my system and mouse seem to work very well on the desktop for the last hour and a half. I have not tried yet game.

    (1) uninstall the Windows Update KB977074 (January 2010 stability and reliability update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2).

    (2) reboot and leave your system for a couple / few minutes after the restart.

    (3) just in case... Restart again, and then reinstall the KB977074.

    (4) restart to complete the installation.

  • Mousepad moving my mouse

Okay, so I looked around online for what it might be, and most of the places said to reinstall your mouse driver. First thought was "ideal, simple solution", but after you have reinstalled the mouse drivers it operated well that much less erratic.

So my question is; Having already removed and reinstalled the mouse drivers what can I do to stop my movement erratic mouse, or is my only option to take is also a technician?

    Thank you

    Liam

You can try just to lower the sensitivity of the touchpad.  These things are sometimes so sensitive they can pick up even if you don't actually touch motion.  A less technical solution I've seen some users to try is tying tape a card holder on top of it.

Sensitivity controls vary from one model to (because the controls are provided by any company built the laptop).  But in general they stick them as an additional tab in the mouse control panel, so if you are lucky, you will find it here:

    1. Press +R to display the race
    2. Type main.cpl , and then click OK.
    3. Looking for a touchpad settings tab.  I have to be provided by the company which built the touchpad, so if you don't see it, you could also try the Hardware tab and then click settings.  If still not found, you need to consult your owner's manual or maybe ask the company who built.

  • The cursor moves erratically even when no mouse connected

I've had the problem for over a year now, but I never received tour to report. From time to time, my cursor moves erratic around the screen, jumping from position every few seconds. I have a MBP, but often use it plugged on a screen and mouse etc with the lid closed. The problem persists if Setup like that, even when the external mouse is disconnected, or when simply use it as a laptop. I recently wiped the hard drive and reinstalled a clean copy of Mac OS x from zero (no backup), but the problem still persists.

    Any ideas?

Looks like a hardware problem. How old is this MBP? Sometimes, when they get older, the battery may start to inflate and put pressure on the trackpad.

This is no program related to special, it happens with all the software and windows desktop. Things I've tried but it does not solve the problem;
    1. the batteries and resynchronization would have changed
2A spoke with toshiba helpline, uninstalled all the drivers and reinstalled
    3. search for updated drivers (no)
    4. tool Keyboard wireless, mouse and transceiver to the store and exchanged - go always the problem
    The wireless keyboard works fine

I was wondering if I was getting some wireless interference but have disabled all devices electrical and electronic local = no difference. I am reluctant to give up everything and go to a plug in mouse because it's brand new. Any help appreciated.

    Hello

You used the mouse WLan but have you tested the feature with a USB mouse?
I recommend doing this to check if he s really a computer problem.

  • My Apple Magic Mouse 2 is erratic, its moving very slowly or not at all.

My Magic Mouse 2 is erratic, it sometimes does not move or moves very slowly.  I tried to log on to Apple Support without success as accessories do not seem to be supported.  Does anyone have a suggestion?  I have changed the speed of follow-up, recharging the mouse via bluetooth, rebooted, not everything works.  Scrolling works fine, but when I move the mouse it move step or move slowly.  I use a pad, just to make sure this isn't a surface issue.

I'm curious to know if your problem persists on the mouse pad? I also use a mouse pad. Mine is a black steelseries all mats. I bought it when I bought my MM2 nearly two months. Before this week, I had when the mouse pointer is frozen on the screen or moved very slowly for a period of time. The problem solved always himself, after a brief period. Starting this week I twice when the pointer is locked horizontally. He moves laterally, but not vertically. I moved it out of the mouse pad, and it worked perfectly. Back on the shelf, it is still stuck horizontally. By turning the MM2/turn off had no effect. I rebooted and everything worked again. Spend a day or two, and it does again. I was not in a place to do a restart and continued to work on the mouse pad. After a few moments I am back on the mouse pad and it works again. It has been working fine since then. I have reviewed the MM2 lens, but it seems normal. He had been recently charged then the power should not be a problem. With the exception of those troubles it works much better that my original Messrs. Pour memory, I use a Mac mini (end 2012) OS X 10.11.2 with updates that have been offered. I did a general search of this issue and your description seems close, I could find to issue messages so far.
