AC adapter / CC uninstalled

Separated from this thread.

By mistake I uninstalled Microsoft AC Adapter also. Now, my laptop does not start with the battery (only shows the hp logo screen). IT only boots on the plugged adapter and battery removed.

I have HP Probook 4520 s, 4 years old.

  • HP Pavilion p6520y (win7) built-in wireless adapter will not detect ANY wireless network.

HP Pavilion p6520y Desktop on Windows 7 Home Premium

Error MESSAGE: "DO NOT CONNECTED - NO CONNECTION IS AVAILABLE" (from the tray icon of wireless with X red network connection).

No changes to the system, in fact, it's brand new. I just want to use my built-in 802.11n Wireless LAN Card to connect to a network including all other PCs (laptops and desktop computers) can see.

I tried a lot of things: toggle, adapter, adapter to uninstall/install, driver update (RT3090), PC restore/recovery, reset the router, change the configuration of the card (e.g., power management), all no. AVAIL.

There is a port of type mini co - ax at the back of the tower for an ANTENNA which came with the PC. However, I think that the internal card could still detect a signal from 20 ft away without antenna. Isn't it?

    PROBLEM SOLVED:

Of course, the last thing I mentioned was the cause. I have set up the office within inches of the wireless router and a signal (albeit low) was detected.

So I guess the fixing of an antenna (which should have with my PC) will improve the signal reception when the office is further away (say 20 ft, or more). already checked radio shack with no luck.

In any case, at least, I know what the problem is. Hope this helps someone in a similar scenario... See you soon...

    Umair salvation,

Please provide detailed information about your question. I appreciate the step by step troubleshooting, and pain that you have taken to resolve your problem. However, there are a few steps more that we can try to diagnose the root cause of the problem.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

    1. Are you able to connect any other wireless device to the same network?
    2. Are all the lights on the Modem/Router Green?
    3. Have you tried to connect your HP laptop with wired network? If so, was the same result?

Problem with the random disconnection of a wireless network can be triggered for a variety of reasons. To find out the exact cause of the issue, I would recommend that you run the network troubleshooter utility.

    Network convenience stores

This problem can occur if authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network checkbox is enabled. If this box is checked, but there is no server to authenticate the connection is interrupted. If you turn on the wireless network connection, it disconnects again after a short period.

    Method 1: Disable IEEE 802 authentication. 1 X

To disable authentication IEEE 802. 1 X, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.
    • Right click on your wireless network connection and then click Properties.
    • Click the wireless networks tab.
    • Under preferred networks, click your wireless network, and then click Properties.
    • Click on the Authentication tab, click to clear the authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network
    • Check box, and then click OK twice.

Method 2: Disable the IP assistance service

    • Hold down the Windows key and type R, type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter
    • Scroll down to the IP assistance service, right-click on it and select Properties
    • In the drop-down list box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to disabled and then click 'apply '.
    • Then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
    • Click OK to exit the dialog box.

Method 3: update the Firmware on the router

Download and install the latest firmware for the router, in case the steps above fail to resolve the problem. If your router is Netgear, then you can follow the steps below.

    NET gear 3700 firmware update

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

  • Cannot cling to the network-WRT 54GS

Every day I learn something. Today I learned that I don't know sh *. I have an old WRT54GS router (what a V1.2?) and a 54GS WUSB adapter. I'm back to the old system after having tried a Netgear N system added strength or speed signal. After a near collapse install antivirus stuff, my computer froze and I had to do a system restore. But then he could not connect to the network. After hours fiddling with IP addresses and others, I finally got online, during about three minutes then, he said that it was out of line - but it wasn't. The red X was over the icon in the toolbar, but the connection only remained connected or re-connected. Whatever it is, I had access for about 5 minutes more. When I got the message that there is a network in range, I knew I was gone. To restore the connection, I had to go back and put in the network key. Same scenario, 3 minutes with the icon that shows the connection, 5 minutes more connected but said I was not logged, then disconnect and the message that the networks were available. During this "in between of phase" of connected while being said I'm not, I can check on my network and get the message «you are currently connected to the network...» "while he proclaims not connected. When I hilight the network, it is for me the button to disconnect from the network. I'm confused and certainly my office is confused. This is an XP machine. My Vista laptop did all settings in good condition (not that I would NEVER say anything good about Vista) HELP!

  • Wusb54g v2 - problem with Linksys Wireless Network Monitor Software

I have a card Linksys USB wireless (WUSB54Gv2) that is currently used with an old HP Desktop running Windows XP Service Pack 3.

I also have a Linksys Wireless PCI Adpater (WMP54Gv4.1) that is currently used with an old Dell desktop running Windows XP.

I have a wired and wireless home network... My broadband provider is Verizon FIOS; I use their supplied router because the coaxial cable that provides the internet connection plugs only into their wireless router, not in a modem and a router. I have an encryption key for 128-bit WEP on the side of the network wireless; It is even once managed via the Verizon FIOS router via a web browser (like most routers).

Two other computers I own are a desk custom-made to date with a direct link to the Verizon router and a laptop from Apple. These two computers are NOT having internet connectivity problems.

I've updated to the latest drivers for my USB adapter and the car PCI.

    ---

    Here's my problem:

When I try to connect to the internet using the Wireless Network Monitor software provided by Linksys, computers, I can connect to the "access point", but not internet. This product only when I don't have the key WEP 128 bits in place, when security is disabled.

If I right click on the Wireless Network Monitor icon in the taskbar and select "Use Windows XP Wireless Configuration", enter my network through windows manually information (including the WEP key), I can connect to the internet perfectly.

However, when I restart or stop two PC, the Linksys Wireless Network Monitor reactive software itself, where it automatically attempts to connect to the internet, but fails, after which I right click on the icon of the monitor again and select «Use Windows XP...» "and then I connect to the internet.

Is anyway to disable the Linksys continuously monitor software WITHOUT uninstalling the software or drivers? (I tried this; Windows cannot use or recognize the network adapter).

    ---

I might just re - activate the Setup Wireless Windows XP every time I close / restart, but other users of PCs on my network (my family) are exceptionally illiterate computer/network and would not be able to learn how to do whenever they want to connect. There is very little practice.

If there is a way to solve this situation, please help! If all goes well there are other solutions I am open to suggestions.

I must emphasize that our Apple laptop connects fine when the WEP key is set.
