SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE! I need help changing permissions and by taking possession of my disk di Local denied all permissions for my Windows Vista Local disk D, and now I can't change permissions or take ownership as an Administrator.System of restoration has not helped. The disc is marked "Access denied" and when you access its properties, you can find the following: general: access denied any 0 bytes space sharing: not the shared security: current owner - unable to display current owner when I click to change the property to the administrator, I get "cannot create the new owner on access denied (d). Access is denied' same results when I go to advanced. Please help me!. I don't want to lose my documents on the disk.

My apologies for necroposting, but I just wanted to say than this absolutely saved my life!

Elaborate a little bit and make it a little bit clearer:
If you have shared the folder/file in question, go to your task manager and go to your 'services '.
Right click on "WMPNetworkSvc" and stop the service (it will take a few seconds).
Try to delete the file, if it doesn't work, try to search in the descriptions and stop any process that has the word 'sharing' in there.
Be sure to re-enable the services once the file has been deleted!
    Hope this helps.

I need to reinstall my CS6 on my PC.  I installed it on this computer for 2 years now, but anyway half of subsequently moved to one of my hard drives and the other half is on the other.  I'm sure to remove both drives and reinstall on the larger hard drive?  I am a student and single MOM, and I can't afford the monthly subscription for the CC7.  If it does not somehow, I'll miss my classes.

If the largest is the primary drive then it is safer than any other installation option, but all uninstall/reinstall can present problems.  If the software currently works very well, I would say that leave well enough alone if your future depends on software work.  Before you delete anything, remember to disable by opening an application and by choosing Help-> Deactivate.

  • "Access denied" error when updating driver

My monitor is an HP w2207h (screen 22 "HD flat).  I get "Access denied" error when you try to manually update the driver by using Device Manager.  When I use the installation of HP or Windows Update utility, I just got a message that an error has occurred.  I've recently updated my NVIDIA driver using windows update (VISTA 64).  On reboot, I get a message asking me to select a driver for my HP flat screen monitor.  When I try to install the driver by using the auto option or by downloading manually from HP, I get an "Access denied" error message.  I am the administrator on the computer.  Can you help me solve this problem?

It is alittle bit of a lenghty process, but it should help to solve the problem. Follow the steps in this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539 to show the devices 'hidden' in Device Manager. Browse the list of drivers installed for the graphics card and remove all drivers that are "grayed out" then uninstall the drivers for your monitor. Restart the system and try to install the driver at that time here.

What can be produced is installed the drivers can interfere with the currently installed driver and this should allow the system to update the driver correctly.

  • Access denied on external hard drive.

I have an external drive, which works perfectly well. But I've just updated from vista to W7, and now I can not access the disk from that specific computer. I get access denied. On the properties, all users have full access. And the funny part is on my other computer, with the exact same OS, the drive works perfectly. So, I expect that there is a setting that I didn't know.
Is there someone with good ideas on how to solve this problem?

Hi I tried your instructions below to restore all my administrator permissions full on my external hard drive.

    1. click on Start , click all programs , and click Accessories .
    2. right click on command prompt , and then click run as administrator .
    3. in administrator: command prompt window.
    4. type
takeown /F (external drive letter) and press ENTER.
    5 type
CACLS (external drive letter) /G Administrator: F and press enter

After that I followed these steps, my computer Windows 7 says that the drive is not accessible.  I plugged it to my old XP computer, and it also says "access denied."  I have a huge amount of important files there and I need to restore access, but I can't find an answer for how to cancel the steps I followed.  Please tell me how to reverse the steps I did your earlier suggestion.

  • access denied on the C: drive due to the destruction of user name accidentally safety on the properties of the c: drive

By chance, I deleted all the names of users and groups in the security properties of the C: drive

shortly after that I tried to access the C: drive and discovered that access was limited to it.

I tried to use the Security Editor, but I'm also locked down because I don't have permission, even if I'm running the active user in administration settings.

It is very annoying because I have most of my computer files on the C: drive, and I am unable to run application shortcuts from the desktop as the directory of all the shortcuts applicaions lead on the C: drive, which is is not accessible.

So far, I tried to disabled UAC and other services concerning the name of user and groups, but also "access denied"...

I'm not able to run CMD and RUN.exe of normal mode, but I can not in safe mode with command prompt,

I therefore believe that any possible solution must be done under mode safe mode with CMD.

I also tried to follow the instructions, but I had no success because the instructions was for someone with a vista and some of the directories mentioned files there is not applicatible for Windows 7.

    http://forums.techguy.org/Windows-Vista/831578-cant-regain-adminstrator-access.html (post #10)

I heard that formatting the drive can bring back the factory settings and the previous user, but put names in form is not an option for me, I never run'ed a backup of the C: drive or its contents, thus losing all that data would be catastrophic for my financial and emotional state.

Is their way of bringing user names I have both in the security properties of the C: drive?

    Hi Xerovoid,

You can try the steps below.

    Step 1

    A. Click Start > computer

    B. right-click on the C: drive, click Properties.

    C. click on the Security tab

    D. click the Advanced button > owner > Edit

    E. make sure the replace the owner of subcontainers and objects box ischecked

    F. click apply, Ok

    G. wait until it changes ownership. (may take a while)

    H. check if the problem persists.

    Step 2

If the above does not help you solve the problem then try the system restore on your computer.

  • How can I keep my messages or folder on my local hard drive and not be an IMAP folder as local folder is

I was a little confused on the way Thunderbird handles the local folder. My local folder is not strictly local, but IMAP as my account records. I would like to be able to unload some of my old files on my hard drive and have them always accessible via Thunderbird. The question becomes greater now that I use a lot of server space, and since this is a business account that I would rather not remove them. I want to archive them. I tried archive but it is just another IMAP folder and so is my local files. Initially, I found having the local convenient IMAP folders because I could file emails from multiple email addresses into common folders and easily get to them via my PC or my laptop because they are IMAP.
All I want to do now is to archive some of my old emails, so they are no longer on the server. How can I do to make it. I thought it should be an easy thing but now after having spent a few hours looking for a solution and finding I'm frustrated. Everything I've read suggests that the local folder should be stored on my hard don't drive not the server, but this isn't my experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I use Thunderbird 24.3)

In fact, even if I go on once again, I'm more invested in what happens with IMAP and used space.
It is obvious, from some recent exchanges here records them are "local."

In the account settings > server settings.
Check cleaning (": Remove") is turned on and then exit and restart Thunderbird.

Then check your use of space on the server, after that Thunderbird and the server took a while to 'chat '.

My guess as to what is happening, is that the IMAP account is not erasing, so deleted mail is there, stay hidden because it is removed but continues to occupy the space.

  • How to do the second hard drive as main hard drive and move the files to the first hard drive to the second.

Original title: How to I can't remove my 1st hard drive program files?

Basically, I got a new laptop for games with Windows 7 on it, and I know almost nothing about computers. So it all starts on my SSD (180 GB) and I want to move to my 2nd hard drive (750 GB) HHD. I want to keep windows and steam (platform game) on my SSD and move almost everything on my other hard drive.  When I move everything on it works, but when I try and do a right-click and delete the programs or program filex (x 86) it says I don't have permission. So I give myself permission and ownership of the program files, but it does not work. I tried to remove anything that did not come on the computer and what I just said try again, but it still does not work.  I have tried myself giving full ownership of readers, but it still does not work. He always tells me that I need permission from myself. Is any way for me to have my computer recognizes the HHD as the primary drive, and then I can move Windows and Steam my SSD? And all that would remove? (If yes let me know if I can put the drivers I have on a flash, so they are removed). Any help or advice would be great! Thanks for reading and you're time and effort!)

    P. S.
Do not forget that I know little to nothing about computers, so just assume I know nothing and give me instructions step by step, if it is possible.
    May peace be with you,
    Alex

Basically, you can not, you need to uninstall the programs, then custom Setup to the location/reader of your choice, even in this case a lot of files will always be located on your windows disk.

When you install a program many entries are written to the registry, if you try to move a program, if you can, the registry entries will be incorrect then the program will stop working.

  • Satellite 2430-101: BIOS and many other issues

Then... I had more than 1 question and I hope someone out there can answer...

1 - is the new Bios (1, 60 - WIN) supports Hyperthreading? If not, is there an other BIOS that is compatible with the S2430-101?

    2. I want to replace the P4 2, 54GHz with a P4 2 8 GHz (800 MHz Bus, HT). If the Bios recognizes the new processor? The heat problem is not really a big problem for me, cause I plan to underclock (if its too hot for the old cooling system to manage) the P4 to 2.6. I want just the stuff (for example HT) of the new processor

    3. not the BIOS recognize a 120 GB HD?

    4. does anyone have experiences with the MSI mini-PCI combo (Blutooth/WLAN) card?

    5. the S2430-101 got a Geforce 4 420 go 32 MB... I was just thinking to upgrade to Geforce 4 440 go with 64 MB... Is this possible... His chip with several pipelines and so on... Its the same family... Has anyone tried replacing a laptop graphics chip? Perhaps a 'material-designer' Toshiba could give some comments to this :D Hey guys... Is this possible?...

6 I need more power, I need more mAh: D... Do anyone know why the battery has more than 2 pins? Is there any material in the battery which tells the system information of the battery? If so, is it possible to build its own battery or system requires information from the battery in order to operate. If Yes, where can I get the specifications of this "battery pack material"?

    Thanks in advance... Stryker

    Hello

I'm not an expert, but I'll try to help: :)

    1. There is no public list where you can read what each update BIOS contains or which issues are fixed. It is always recommended to install later and ONLY Toshiba designed update the BIOS.
    2. I can't give you specific information about CPU upgrade, but as far as I know, replacement of the CPU is often not possible. The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and it is used in the interest of the miniaturization and heat dissipation. For more information try to contact the Service partner in your country.
    3. you will be lucky if someone has tested with the same unit. This unit is about three years old and it is not easy to say what is the maximum size of HDD supported by the BIOS. I found the info set comes with 40 GB and you can use 60 or 80 GB HARD drive, and I think that there should not be no problem. If you need more space, you can use external HARD drive (unit has USB 2.0 and data transfer speed will be fast enough)
    4. I don't think you can use any card combo on this device because of hardware architecture. WLAN is here but BT module is missing and you can use an external solution such as BT USB stick.
5 update graphics card is usually not possible.
    6. sorry but this question is a bit stupid to me :) and I really put t know how you want to use the battery clean.

Expensive Stryker at the end I just recommend you to buy a new laptop. Believe me it's much cheaper than all your projects for the upgrade. Please think about it!

  • Installation of XP pro sp2 stalls to the file teamw.exe then ks.exe and many others.

I'm trying to re - install XP pro SP2 after a virus attack.  I did a full format on my WD 160 GB hard drive.  Serial ATA Mothboard Biostar G31 - M7 TE with the most recent BIOS.  Generally, installation hangs when you attempt to load the file "teamw.exe" the file depending on whether he's looking for is ks.exe there are twenty others subsequently that it cannot find.  I tried another disc with SP2.  The same problem.  I joined my current version to SP3 with the same result.  Thought it might be a hard drive problem.  A ran the WD disk checker rescuer in the BACK.  No problems found.  I don't think that is the motherboard related.  Would be - this somehow a hard drive problem?  No other equipment still installed.  It drives me crazy.  Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi Indiana brand,

Whenever there is a problem with the Windows XP disc, we encounter this type of questions. We recommend trying the following steps and check the result.
    a. installation to launch Windows XP.
    b. when the file fails to copy, remove the disk from the CD drive and insert the other XP CD in the drive to see if the copy process continues successfully.
    c. If the installation continues, complete the installation.

See How to install or upgrade to Windows XP

If all else fails, contact the manufacturer of the system for more support options.
