Try to start your system from a "Live Linux" CD free.  This CD runs a version of Linux without installing anything on your hard drive.  To create the CD, you download a file ".iso" and feature "Burn Image" of your CD burner to create a bootable CD.  The advantage, that you win, is that Linux is a lot less strict with permissions, so you should be able to access your files and copy them to a USB device.  Some Linux Live CD are:
    Knoppix: <> http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html >
    Ubuntu: <> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install >
Ubuntu is actually an installation disc, so be very careful to follow the 'Try Me' instructions so that don't accidentally install you it on your hard drive.

An another boot CD, you might try is "Hiren".  It is in fact a version of "First environment" of Windows XP, so you could get access to some files that you would otherwise not not when starting on this disc.

  • 0x0000046a error code when trying to connect to a printer on a network and share

I can't connect to a shared printer in the network (on a computer running Windows XP) with my laptop that is running Windows 7. The laptop can find the printer but returns a "failed to connect, the operation failed with error 0x0000046a.

On a separate similar network setup (same model printer attached to a computer which is running XP), the connection works perfectly.

The program installation, above, which gives the printer connect error worked well, until I had a failure to drive on the XP machine and restored the (previously saved) XP operating system. I deleted the printer both XP and Windows 7 computer portable machine and more, but still not the same error.

This utility is completely useless. He tries the 'Add printer' Wizard, reached the error and give up, with no details except the error number.

    Can someone help me?

When I installed the driver (version of basic pilot without additional software), installation is 'successful', but after finishing installation a message shows by reading that the computer could not connect to the printer. In addition, the other printer which has worked before is no longer works and comes up with the same error "Access is denied.". Have clues on how to solve this problem? Thank you!

  • Network printer is recognized but does not command shared print

Just installed update of XP on the computer desktop and Vista on the laptop.  Everything goes well on XP computer but the printer that is installed and set apart as before, will not print from the laptop.  This is a Photosmart HP 7160 and on my list of printers.  It shows that a doc is sent to the printer, but it will not and does not show in the queue.

None of the "fixes" listed here or on the work of HP.

    Hi Marilynandav,

Follow the steps below and check if that helps you.

    1. can you access files in the computer that is running Windows XP from the computer that is running Windows Vista? You must configure the first print settings.

File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx#EFAA

    2. to connect to a shared printer on Windows Vista.

    1) click the Start button, and then in the search box, type \ followed by the name of the computer with the shared printer you want to use (for example, \\mylaptop).

    (2) press on enter.

    (3) If Windows can find the computer on the network, a folder is opened for the computer. Double-click Printers. If none of the shared printers connected to this computer, they will appear here. If you do not see the shared printer you want to use, ask a person who uses this computer if the printer is connected, turned on, and shared with other users on the network.

    4) double-click the printer. Windows will automatically add the printer to your computer and install the printer driver. When the process is complete, click Next.

    (5) the printer should appear in your printers folder. You can select this printer when you want to print a document or another file type.

Note: If Windows can automatically find and install the printer driver that allows this shared printer to work with your computer, you must install the driver before you will be able to print.

    (1) download the Windows Vista compatible driver from the HP website and check:

    (2) remove the existing printer driver and reinstall it.

    Remove the printer

    ==============

    (a) click on the "Start" button, type PRINTERS in the start search box and press ENTER.

    (b) find the icons that are related to Dell photo924, and delete them.

    (c) right-click on the blank part of the window and choose "Run as Administrator"-> "Server Properties".

    (d) the tab drivers, select the printer that is listed and click Remove. Please, select Remove driver and driver package.

    (e) open the start menu, enter APPWIZ. CPL in the search box and press ENTER to launch the "programs and features".

    (f) try to remove all related printer software.

    (g) reinstall the latest driver.

After installing the driver, please follow the steps below

    Add a shared printer

    ====================

    (a) click Start, click Control Panel and double-click Printers.

    (b) on the keyboard, press Alt, and then click the file-> run as administrator-> add printer.

When the UAC window appears, click on continue to go.

    (c) select "add a local printer.

    (d) select "create a new port". Select "Local Port" as the port type.

    (e) in the "Enter a port name" box, type the address in the following format.

\\[IP address of the host computer]------[the share name of the printer]

    (f) and then click Next.

    (g) follow the instructions to complete the installation. During the installation, choose the driver in the list of drivers.

The name of the 32-bit driver is different from the name of 64-bit driver.  You create a Local Port which will basically copy the formatted print data from the part of xpmachine.

  • Cannot stop install the shared printer on the master computer

    * Original title: prevent windows rt tries to install printers

I got a 2520 Lumia. Love it to bits and is a great system, but I have a major horse with her that makes me crazy. I'm not a major technique, but know my way to the bases, but for the love of God (insert relevant religious Idol where required) I can't stop trying to install a shared printer on my main PC. A HL2130 brother, I know that's not compatible but each week my devices in the subway menus list about 20 cases of this printer as not compatible. I remove all the re - appear little by little. I disabled will install it automatically logged in options in homegroup, network devices do not turn the printer off sharing because it's not native network and other people in the House use it through my pc. I want to just disable automatic installation of network on the Lumia 2520.

It's driving me crazy and I need someone who knows more than me!

(EDITION - see below!) Thanks for the reply, but this isn't any help. I slide, tap Settings, change pc settings, tap network, then connections, but I don't have an option in this page to enable or disable devices to find. All I have are 3 Mobile Broadband, WiFi and VPN components. No other options there at all.

    .......

I found the option. I had to type on my WiFi network named to access this option (which is not an obvious thing to be able to do the layout and I did in fact by chance). I hope that this will be the sort!

  • Access denied to Local D drive

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE! I need help changing permissions and by taking possession of my disk di Local denied all permissions for my Windows Vista Local disk D, and now I can't change permissions or take ownership as an Administrator.System of restoration has not helped. The disc is marked "Access denied" and when you access its properties, you can find the following: general: access denied any 0 bytes space sharing: not the shared security: current owner - unable to display current owner when I click to change the property to the administrator, I get "cannot create the new owner on access denied (d). Access is denied' same results when I go to advanced. Please help me!. I don't want to lose my documents on the disk.

My apologies for necroposting, but I just wanted to say than this absolutely saved my life!

Elaborate a little bit and make it a little bit clearer:
If you have shared the folder/file in question, go to your task manager and go to your 'services '.
Right click on "WMPNetworkSvc" and stop the service (it will take a few seconds).
Try to delete the file, if it doesn't work, try to search in the descriptions and stop any process that has the word 'sharing' in there.
Be sure to re-enable the services once the file has been deleted!
    Hope this helps.
  • AppStack access denied

I have several created appstacks and by using an administrator account all attach to my office computer test and a lot of work.  However, when I try to use an account that has no privileges on the test of office at least an appstack, sometimes more, tethering, but I get an "access denied" trying to walk on the path to folder.  In addition, the application icons appear on the desktop, but the icons are blank, white and when double clicked do nothing, obviously because I don't have access to the file.  If I re - order apps, the question becomes another application.  If I only have a single appstack, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.  However, if I use an administrator account, it still works.

Are there special permissions, I need to put all by capturing a request?  When I look at the permissions for the folder under ProgramFiles there is no difference between an appstack who works and who does not.

The "capture" is a domain windows 7 sp1 system.  Wondering if maybe it's the question?  I try to keep the system as clean as possible capture, leaving out the field is so logical in my mind. I'd hate to have GPO "tricks" in my catches.

    Anyone else see this problem?

Here are some details on my env:

Windows 7 SP1, as well to capture and test desktop computers

View 6.0.1 (you have not installed integration broker because of the known bug)

All data warehouses are CF and VMFS5

ESXi and vCenter are in 5.1

All requests to mount through the vCenter Server

    Thank you

It turns out that this was due to a GPO setting.  Why work 5 appstacks and 6 don't I don't know, but after changing the GPO settings he started to work very well.

We disable the write on removable disks by default in our domain policy.  Then we have an another GPO that overrides the settings, if a user has a security level.

GPO settings are under user: politics, administration, system, removable storage access models.  The two parameters, I had to change to disable were "removable disks: deny read access ' and ' removable disks: deny write access.  If I have only enabled read access, I received error messages strange trash.  Given that these users are VDI only and we block cross USB through the Horizon view Agent I do not think that turn these two settings for people with disabilities will be that big of a deal.  However, it is a question for my security team.  In any case, it's the answer to this question.
