Access to a shared folder is denied

Hello

I have 2 computers, 1 will win 8.1 and connected via Wi - Fi and the other works under Win 7 and connected with the cable.

I had everything works fine until I replaced the Windows 7 computer HARD drive.

I replaced the HARD drive, did a clean install from the same disc, set everything as it was including the same firewall (ESET, even for computers).

Now I can't access some shared folders, even if I change all the settings in the PC of 8.1 Win.

The permissions set for full access.

Why is this and how to fix this?

For shared folders, you must set the permissions, not one, but two times.

    Help

    Hello

Problems of permission and security with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account on all computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users.

Using the functionality of all saved the need to configure authorization for each of the established users, it does mean not all those who feel that they would like to connect.

Users who do not have an account on the computer are not part of the Everyone group.

If the LAN security is useless and users are not established, then move on the guest account provides the semi-open configuration.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-the-guest-account-on-or-off

    ---------------------

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

  • Access to a shared folder hard blocks VMWare Fusion (started happening recently)

I have access to my Mac OS X desktop as a folder within my VM and have it run this way for years without problem. Sometimes in the past month, VMWare has started completely freeze/lock up when I try to open the desktop folder in Win7 or if I try to open a file from an application running in Windows. I get no error message, just a Beachball Of Death, and VMWare will eventually (or not) report that Windows crashed and offer to reboot. Sometimes I have to force quit (and kill several VMWare process) until I can restart.

If I restart in Mode safe, I can open/read/write files very well. I can also 'mirror' of my office (instead of share) and it works very well in this way, too, but this approach is not practical as I have so more can see my normal within Windows desktop, as it is replaced by all the files from my Mac desktop,

I couldn't find all the online articles that were useful for the resolution of this problem, and it's impacting on my ability to do my job.

Again, this has been working fine until recently. As El Capitan has been recently updated and VWWare Fusion has been recently updated Windows gets patches every week, I'm not sure which, if any, of those that could have caused the problem.

    Suggestions welcome.

    Here is my configuration:

    MBP 15 retina, mid 2015 running OS X 10.11.5

16 GB of RAM (8GB assigned to Windows)

500 GB SSD 120 GB assigned to Windows

    Win7 Pro 64-bit

    VMWare 8.1.1 (3771013)

I tried re('repair') VMware Tools installation, but do not uninstall first. Just did the full cycle of uninstall/install and it is always difficult pop-up Windows (no BSD, just freezes and VWware with it). Process of the merger of VMware and vmware-vmx to hang (as shown in activity monitor).

This is * only * happening if I share my desktop Mac computer. If I share any file, it works fine. Yet once, it only started recently.

    UPDATE

Playing a hunch, I removed an alias (which points to a file on a network drive) in my office that I created recently (I had other aliases on my desk for several months, but none of them did for the network drives), and it now seems to work very well. What's weird is that I initially put crime aliases in a subfolder Desktop and VMware has worked well until I drove my cursor arrow on the subfolder (do not click to open it), when it crashed again. I put the back on my desktop and the "boom" alias, crashed almost immediately, which seems to confirm that the alias is the problem.

Windows does make a kind of prediction "read-ahead" as you move your cursor and hovering over the records?

In any case, the trigger seems to be an alias that points to a network drive, that hard to block Windows / VMware.

    Hello

    Follow these steps:

Step 1: Make this file and printer sharing is enabled, computers.

Follow the steps listed in the link below to check the parameters and the essential elements to share files over the network:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/file-sharing-essentials

Also check if network discovery is enabled, the computer. Steps to follow:

    i. click on Start, click on Control Panel.

II. Select network and sharing Center

III. Select change advanced sharing settings

(IV) in respect of network discovery, select Enable network discovery

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/share-files-with-someone

Step 3: you can also try to disable your firewall program and security and then try to access to the shared folder. Make sure that you activate it if this step does not help.

    Note:
Antivirus/Firewall software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Shared folder report

    Hello

Is it possible to restrict or grant access to the shared folder in report by specific user level (no role)?

For example, there are 03 folder shared Sub & user access should be:
    Folder (only user1)
    Folder B (User2, user3)
    File C (user 4 only)

Let's say your users have the role of the Sales Rep field, you could copy this role and name the field Sales Rep-1 and assign it to User1 and new copy this role and name field Sales Rep-2 and assign it to user2, etc.. By doing this, you can configure your records in relation to restrictions that may be made by role.

  • Access denied error when the output directly in a shared folder in Windows 7

I have two workstations, the first working (PC1) of Windows Server 2008 R2 and the other work (PC2) of Windows 7 Professional.

I work on PC1 using the app called "MetaDimention" dealing with PDF files and generates output files as a separation of colors (CMYK color separation) TIFF files. The problem arises when I intend to exit that TIFF files generated by "MetaDimention" directly in the shared folder on the PC2 via the network "workgroup."

The 'MetaDimention' gives me the error message: JobTicketMerger: the data output destination '\\EQCENTER1\TiffOut' is not valid (ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED).

where "\\EQCENTER1\TiffOut" is the path to the folder shared network on PC2.

I noticed this problem when I using Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, 2012 as an output destination, but there is no problem when the destination using windows server 2003 path.

Have a read of the link above re Vista file and printer sharing.

Permissions/Share info is there as well.

If you use Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro or Kaspersky I.S., make that file and printer sharing is enabled in THE Firewall (or LAN enabled, depending on how their Exceptions are formulated in their firewall)

  • Scan cannot access a shared folder on 10.11.5

I shared a folder on OSX 10.11.5.  The permissions are correct.  I can access the share from a Windows machine (he asks credentials and is REALLY slow to display files), but when I try to scan a document to sharing it errors every time.  It worked until recently.  I'm 100% sure that the credentials on the scanner are correct.

Just so there is no confusion I created an account on my scanner on a network (which is on the same subnet) with the same references as those of a user on the OSX machine.  The sharing is visible and accessible in writing from a Windows machine.  When I scan from the scanner (A Konika Minolta Bizhub) it says "error: unable to connect to the server."  This isn't a matter of connection/permissions because when I change the credentials, I get a different error message.

    Any ideas?

So you're probably aware that Apple has changed the version of SMB used 10.7 and later and as a result many multifunctional no longer able to scan to a share on the Mac via SMB. I know that KM has released a fix for some of their machines that made this work again. Since you mention work recently, I assumed that it was a Mac OS x 10.11.x. Is this correct?

If Yes, then on the KM, you can navigate to sharing Mac instead of using the address book entry? If you can, and then using this function, you should see the Mac and when you select it, you should get a prompt to authenticate. If you specify the account name on the Mac, that needs to be enabled via system preferences > sharing > file sharing > Options > Windows, then the password file sharing, is the shared folder appears? You get an error at this stage, or when you first select the Mac?
