Access to my laptop. How can I do it safely?

My ex-husband installed a software remotely on my laptop if I had problems, it can sort them for me while he was at work, or when you're working away.

As soon as we got divorced, I removed this software but it is still able to get into my laptop, so that no cause how many accounts I create on MSN or Yahoo, it can still find me and contact me.

I think it contains information on the laptop (public IP address maybe?), allowing access to my laptop, even if I deleted the control software remotely. My ex-husband is very very technically competent it is wise. Its his job.

I understand my lawyer I could actually have a legal basis for the harassment, but I would rather change this situation if this is possible by changing the settings on the laptop it know, of course, did not have access, rather than go down the legal route.

I'm not very technical, am limited in my wheelchair and my laptop is my entire social life, but I'm starting to live in fear to market. Can someone please, please give me some advice.

Thank you very much

Hi, Beverley

It s ex-husband too bad to hear this story to your subject.

But back to your question;
Because your ex-husband is a COMPUTER expert, it might be possible that he has installed a 3rd party application (program) on your laptop and such program could provide some information in his computer.
I don t want to explain how these work programs because it s too complicated and it s long history.

Because you are a newbie I put t think you will be able to find and remove or disable this program without any other help.
I think the easiest would be the new facility. In this case, the whole HARD disk could be editing and all the 3rd party hidden programs would be removed and destroyed.

But note; This procedure deletes also all your private files and data. So, if you need your data please save it first on an external HARD drive or a CD/DVD.
Then collect the laptop using the recovery CD from Toshiba that came with the laptop. This will outline the laptop to factory settings, and you can be sure that no 3rd party program is installed on the laptops OS.

Goodbye & best regards ;)
