  Satellite Pro P100 is old model laptop and I do not remember if this model was delivered with or without recovery DVDs. It turns out that all the models shipped without installation disc recorded on HARD drive data recovery and computer laptop owner is able to install this recovery image using HARD drive recovery facility.

  Second option was using recovery DVD creation preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator tool. How it works and how to start the HARD drive recovery is described in s manuals that you got with your laptop computer in pdf format.   Formatting the hard drive of your laptop is not a good idea. Ask your friend if he intends giving you a real legal DVD of installation of the operating system on your laptop.

  Please identify your laptop / pc with more than the number of series. Look at the basic/back/side of the pc/laptop to the sticker with barcode. Post numbered items 1 and 2 on the next image.

  Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

  It will also tell you here what Service Packs, if any, are already installed.
