Accidentally install Windows 7 Pro on another computer. Can I cancel it and install it on another computer?

Hello

I bought Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Pro.  Accidentally, I started to install the Pro version on the wrong computer.  I have not finished the installation.  Can I go back and install the version pro on a different machine?  The installation is not complete.

Open Control Panel.  In the upper right corner, there is an option for "Category view" or small/large icons.  Change the option for now on small icons.  (you can change this return later, all this for ease of use)  Now that you have quite a few icons, open "Default programs".  Then, using the 'Set the Associations' option, you can adjust how Windows manages any type of single file.  :)

Try Nice PhilipsJason, but I have the impression that this is exactly pajldj changed file association before selecting Firefox accidentally, and it is impossible to undo this change because all Associations does not "Unknown Application" as an option to choose ;)

    Hi pajldj,

    Try this:

    1. Press the Windows key + R > type regedit and press enter
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.lnk
    3. OpenWithList should contain only:
      • (Default) | REG_SZ | (value not set)
    4. OpenWithProgids should contain only:
      • (Default) | REG_SZ | (value not set)
      • LNKFILE | REG_NONE. (binary value of length zero)
    5. Make sure that there is no subkey/subfolder UserChoice (if you see him, do a right-click on UserChoice > delete )
    6. Restart your system

This is what the mentioned key should look like:

  • What should I do to install HP PSC 2175 on Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit computer brand new?

    Hi all

New here, but have used HP printers for eons.

I just 'retired' my old Win XP computer which was attached my printer PSC 2175 and works very well. I am now set up my brand new win 7 Pro 32 Bit computer and I was wondering what I should do first steps.

    1. I have to install the CD printing software and follow the on-screen instructions?

    2. then, I should go to the HP website and download all the up-to-date drivers I need?

I bought the printer in 2006 and the "cheat sheet" included for installation only mentions computers running up to XP. But I understand that this printer is compatible with Win 7 and since it runs like a dream, I don't want to buy a new printer, if I did not really.

Thanks for all your help in advance

    Barb

@fritzmom, Sorry so late for your response. You will need to configure your printer first hardware. Install the ink cartridges and leave the initialization process.

When the printer is on the main screen, then you can download the drivers from the Web site or the installation CD.

Either way is fine. If you want to download the latest drivers, simply go to the link below.

  • Use OEM Windows 7 Pro in virtual computer; Enterprise of Windows 8.1 in the physical Machine

    Hello

I need some real tips on Windows license manager that I don't want to go against all Microsoft software license.

As a backdrop, I have the following:

-an OEM Windows 7 Pro that came with the purchase of a Dell PC

-a license in Volume Windows 8 with Software Assurance purchased by my company

I would like to know if I can install the copy of the OEM Windows 7 Pro in a virtual machine on the Dell PC, while having a Windows Installer on the physical PC/computer Dell 8.1. i.e. physical Machine Dell PC = Windows Enterprise 8.1; Virtual machine in the same Dell PC is Windows 7 Pro OEM.

I don't want to do a dual boot to install because it will be difficult to remove once my 3rd party applications fully supports Windows 8.1; and I also want to keep my PC as clean as possible. I also can't use one of the Open License of Windows 8 as a lower upgrade to Windows 7 as this installation will take another license to use.

I read from the windows 7 EULA that:

'Use with Virtualization Technologies. Rather than use the software directly on the licensed computer, you can install and use the software within the virtual (or emulated) only on the licensed computer system... »

I was wondering that the clause applies, but I don't know if the OEM Windows 7 Pro can be activated on a virtual machine because I don't have the OEM product key.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It's the same clause I was going to paste attesting that you can install the license OEM Windows 7 in a VM.

In addition, since you have Windows Enterprise 8.1, you can use the built in Hyper-v:

Windows 8 integrates into hypervisor called Hyper-V.

This requires that your processor supports the translation of the secondary addresses.

To see if your processor is supported:

Press the Windows key + X

    Click on programs and features

Click on turn Windows features on or off

See if you can check off Hyper-V and all its options of void

If this isn't the case, it does not support Hyper-v.

You can use alternatives such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home/Windows 10 Pro Dual boot computer CPU

I plan on upgrading my CPU to a core of an I5 Quad model, dual Pentium G630. The card mother won't be replaced as it can accommodate a socket LGA-1155. I can also be tempted to replace my current system with a 250 GB SSD drive. It is a dual-boot computer that used to have two installations of Windows 7: it was OEM that came pre-installed, when the computer was purchased, and the other was a retail version. • How to uninstall Windows XP PRO so that I can install Windows Pro 8.1?

Problem? My Windows XP PRO is not listed in the control panel. (The system came with the new computer).

I want to uninstall, & replace it with Windows 8.1 pro (disk).

Is it done in safe mode? Also how a clean uninstallation is completed?

MS says that an upgrade is not possible (since '23 programs, etc. need attention').

All advice appreciated. Best regards, Doug

Original title: how to uninstall Windows XP PRO, which is not listed in the control panel?

Of course, it is not in the control panel. This isn't how it works. You must reformat and perform a new installation of Windows 8.

Your computer will not be able to be upgraded. You must consult the computer manufacturer to see if there is even the disks available to this end for Windows 8. Probably not.

And, even if all the drivers were available, you always have to reinstall ALL your programs and data on the medium of origin or files and backup of the date.
