Account unknown (S-1-5-21-873648000-3141518872-1301144625-1010)

I recently had because of go in my profile of permissions, and when I opened the function "Modify" to change permissions, I noticed there are 1 an additional description of 'Group' was that I've never seen before.  The usual "groups" are listed: everyone; Directors; Users; System; etc.  However, also had the following account: "account unknown (S-1-5-21-873648000-3141518872-1301144625-1010).

Question: has anyone in the community never saw such a remark in the Permissions property?  If Yes, can anyone advise me how I can exorcise it from my system?  BTW - all the boxes 'Full Control' in this group permissions are selected and grayed out by default.  I can't change the settings.  Thanks for any help.

The number refers to an account that you deleted at some point. There is nothing to worry about. You can remove the entry from the list of permissions, but you will have to go through all of your files.

    Hello

It is a left on security settings that belongs to an account that has been deleted.

He is not able to recover the account info because it's been deleted, either by you or by Windows, that's why it says "account unknown."

You can try these steps and see if it helps.

    a. go to the folder where you saw this string SID.

    b. right-click and select Properties. Click the Security tab.

If you do not see the SID, all is well for this folder.

    c. If it is there, then click Edit, and then click Remove.

If you are told that you cannot delete this account because it is to be inherited, and then close the dialog boxes and set up a folder in the tree and repeat the procedure. Keep this up until you can remove the SID "Account unknown" in the permissions dialog box.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • How can I delete the account unknown (S-1-15-3-4096)?

    Original title: account unknown (S-1-15-3-4096)

What is account unknown (S-1-15-3-4096) and how it can be removed!

"S-1-15-3-4096" security principle is built into account.  Microsoft should give it a name, description, and better explain.  Darkness is not good security.

Windows, Vista, defines four integrity levels: low (SID: S-1-16-4096), medium (SID: S-1-16-8192), high (SID: S-1-16-12288) and system (SID: S-1-16-16384).
According to my experience having the security principle (S-1-16-4096) with rights to Favorites allows an 'IE' process mode in protected low integrity to add favorites.  (Adding integrity to records for access must be carefully examined).
Otherwise, you must do one of them to add a favorite to the Internet zone:
    -Launch IE as an administrator
-put the site on the zone Internet
-Disable "Protected Mode" in the Internet zone
All things I would recommend against because you lose some protections.
You can manually add the principle through the file properties, use ICACLS, powershell or VBScript.
Example of Windows 8 system permissions:
    S-1-15-3-4096 favorites: (OI) (CI)(RX,W,DC)
    NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM: (I) (OI) (CI) (F)
    BUILTIN\Administrators: (I) (OI) (ci) (F)
    domain\id: (I) (OI) (ci) (F)
Mandatory Label\Low mandatory Level: (OI) (CI) (NW)
Here are the ICACLS commands: (added)

How to add Windows 7 system:
    ICACLS [C:\Path\Favorites] /setintegritylevel (CI) (OI) low/t
How to add for Windows 8 system:
    ICACLS [C:\Path\Favorites] / Grant * S-1-15-3-4096: (OI) (CI)(RX,W,DC) /setintegritylevel (CI) (OI) low/t
Win 8 has some UAC changes, I think that is the motor adding the principle of security.
  • new and unknown user account - pirate being?

I have a MacBook Pro, on which I recently installed OS X El Capitan. A few minutes ago I had to force a shutdown down because my MacBook does not have answered what anyone more. When I restarted, I saw a new user account, that I have ever created. My macbook has been hacked? How can I remove such account unknown? I am concerned that at some point, it asked me to put my password to iCloud and other Apple ID - which I did not. Help would be very appreciated be! Thanks in advance

Unlikely, it was hacked. Go to System Preferences > users and groups, and delete the new account. Then please download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information.

Hello everyone, I hope that someone may be able to provide an answer to a problem, that I detected. I have a "ghost" or "ACCOUNT UNKNOWN" account username on my XP Home SP2 that I found when I went into safe mode and checked the properties-> tab security for one of my programs. This seems to be present in most of the software, but not all.

The unknown user account is S-1-5-32-547 - can anyone tell me what it is or how it got there? Or, is there a need to worry?

When I actually open via control panel user accounts, it is not listed. Only, I fell on it all by checking the properties on the software in safe mode.

I saw the pictures and found that you had to the security of the folder/file. From there, change the owner of your current account. The account unknown S-1-5-21-98... user id internal to the user account that created the file and so you have the permission of that user, which is impossible because even if you create a user account with the same name, the user id cannot be the same.

Also, as mentioned in one of the boxes of dialogue, appropriating the folder/file and then delete the unknown user account.

Try the above, if the file/folder is not encrypted/protected.

    Greetings,

I have a bit of a quandry.  {I was check the properties of my c:\{computer account user name}-{username}- and when I chose the Security tab, I have two entries in there that begin with "Account unknown" and a long string of letters and numbers after him.  I'm not sure if these should be there or not.  Any assistance/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I understand that it may simply be relics left by an installation or a Windows Update.

  • My Firefox deleted my account when I reinstalled Firefox.

So I had problems with Firefox and the first problem was when I clicked on my homepage, it redirected to a different site each time that I changed it to my homepage of YouTube or any other site. Another problem is, that my tabs recently never appeared on my Firefox browser either and it bothered me.

So today, I thought. Why not, let me remove all files and reinstall Firefox to fix it. So I did. With this new Firefox installed, I tried to connect to my sync account and it says "account unknown." At this point, I'm really upset because I have my key to recover my account and also lost all my passwords now.

    How can I fix?

It seems that you should have to ask for support for your question to start with your home page, rather than "delete all" and reinstall Firefox. It would have been easy enough to fix wit our help, but now it seems that your personal data may not be recoverable.

The recovery key for the old 1.0 version of synchronization can be used a Firefox 29 or later version that uses Sync 1.5. All you need to connect a 'new device' Sync / Firefox accounts is the email address synchronization account (username) and the sync account password.

Be aware that if you change your synchronization password, your data is deleted from the synchronization servers.

  • I tried to access my sync account and he said: there is no!

Well, actually, the title already says. I have tons of important bookmarks in my account and I can't access it, it says "account unknown." I know my password and recovery key, too. I've never been able to do, but now I can't! Also, if possible, after recovering it, I want to change the e-mail address... PLEASE, SAVE ME!

(personal information removed by the moderator. Please see the guidelines and rules of the Forum -m)

I think I got it: I just installed an older version of Firefox and synchronize it like in the old days. Now I'm going to synchronize in the new way. I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Thank you, the-edmeister, to try to help.
