Acer Aspire laptop computer does not start

Lites button power screen stays black, the system tries to start, but he keeps power button light turns off.  I have a new disc of windows 7 32 & 64 bit.  I have the disc as a dvd before I turn on the power button.  With the new windows 7 dvd of 20 to 30 seconds to place power turns off.

Anyone with knowledge of this problem would be grateful.

  3. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?

I understand that you are unable to start your Windows 7 system. To prevent your system from automatically restart, try to access the menu advanced startup options by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts. Select the option disable automatic error system reboot. Also, I suggest you try the following steps of diagnostics to verify if you are able to reach the office in one of the following modes methodical.

Method 1:

Please follow the underlying steps:

Step 1. Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse.

Step 2 I would like to start your computer in last known good configuration.

If method 1 does not work, go to method 2.

Method 2:

Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.

Step 2: If the system works fine in safe mode, try to clean the system startup:

Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

If method 2 does not work, go to method 3.

Method 3:

As you cannot start your computer at all, I suggest to run a Startup Repair to repair the damaged boot system files and try to boot into normal mode. See the section: How to use Startup Repair in the following link.

If this does not help, try to boot from a disc to install Windows 7 on the Windows recovery environment mode and then try to run the Startup Repair tool and check if you are able to start normally.

If the problem persists, proceed to method 4.

Method 4:

You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the recovery Windows (WINRE) environment to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • A master boot record (MBR)

  • A boot sector

  • A Boot Configuration data (BCD) store

  • Note: When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the problem, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe

      Error code 24 characters long drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the startup problem you describe.

      I bought the Acer Aspire S7 392 in October this year of digitec.ch AG here in Switzerland. Everything worked well until December 19 when my Antivirus McAfee has expired and I decided to change my Comodo Internet Security antivirus. A month back, I had installed Windows 8.1 as well and things were smooth until last night. Last night, when I installed Comodo Internet Security, the computer requires a restart, I did, and then my computer erased. I could not even reached the Acer logo at startup.

      As I tried to check the observation of details of covers them this white screen problem, Irealized that many people suffer from a similar problem. It seems that Windows 8.1 and an installation of a new antivirus may have led to this white screen problem. In addition, it seems to be a bios problem that the computer would not start and I hope that someone could help me with this problem.

      Thank you very much Acer-Tommy. I had to take it to the Acer Support in Switzerland. He partially solved the problem. My S7-392 has a built-in battery that I had to reset which allowed the laptop to reboot normally. As in, I was able to boot up to Windows 8.1. However, as soon as I logged into Windows, it hooked up soon. Do the restart 3 times triggered the automatic repair/update option. That I took and returned to Windows 8. I had a Bios 2.05 2.03 intead and I had to install 2.05 before making updates. I recommend you seriously all the people who use the S7-392 to strictly follow the installation procedure for Windows 8.1 mentioned on the Acer site.

      Please update your Bios to 2.05 before installing something new, especially a new anti-virus.

      Well there is some time, I bought a beautiful used R100 - a laptop Toshiba in passing - but now, she has developed an annoying problem. Whenever it disconnect the laptop from the power supply for more than 2 hours about (don't know if this is not longer) I can't begin the R100, even if the battery indicator is green. After pressing the powerbutton the power led lights in green, and nothing happens. The "solution" to this problem is to give the R100 some time in this 'turned on' - State and after 15 minutes, I am able to start the computer (turn market again).

      I think that this could be a problem with a battery on the motherboard that is at its limits and needs time to gather enough power to start the computer.

      I hope you can help me identify the problem with my beloved laptop :)

      My roommates son asked me to help him to be on the internet, which I did, ran unusually slow in doing so, I noticed it when I checked, I found that the notebook had three solutions of different software protection, antivirus, Norton, McAffrey and AVG 2011 version for free. Also I noticed he had some solutions that provided a diagnosis, list of problems found and wanted to pay for the product before they would allow acccess to the fix. I uninstalled Norton and the McAffrey and improved the AVG free version of 2012. I also uninstalled the pesky diagnosis/buy me for the correction and the ask.com toolbar software. I installed ccleaner from piriform as well. The laptop seems to run a little faster, but the next morning he projected blue and when I tried to start it in safe mode it not loaded so far and then frozen, always in the same spot something AVGi and then it crashes, it will not load the rest of the necessary drivers. I tried to boot to the last known good as well. I even tried to downgrade to Windows xp home edition sp3 and when I do it it says there is no hard drive detected, and do I have to make sure that it works correctly.  I am at a loss, my sons friends bought the laptop (Acer Aspire 5315) for $50.00 and did not get a recovery disk so that the option does not exist or the other. What can I do to solve this problem.       If you tried to install Windows XP, and it says that? Do you have any installation CD? I don't want to say this, but maybe the hard drive went kaput.       We will try to repair the startup entries, I suggest you follow these steps and try to solve the problem of Windows 8 start.

      a. starting from hirens CD.

      b. try these commands from the command prompt.

      Bootrec /fixmbr

      Bootrec /fixboot

      Bootrec /rebuildbcd

      c. restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

      I am running Wndows 7. When you press the button "power on", that the power light turns on, the fan starts, the DVD player made his usual noise and then after 3 seconds, all this stops and all the lights go out.       Looks like you are on the right track and did all the correct steps for the issue. I agree that the problem is hardware related. All devices seem to be powered, but the loop could be linked to the motherboard.

      Finally, I took a better look at the RAM module and the slot. Although I replaced the modules many times it seems that they were not properly placed in the slot. In any case, it works with my new 2 GB module.

      1. Has no problem reading CD/DVD on your computer?
      2. What is the brand of computer?
      3. What were you doing on BIOS?

      Ensure that this CD/DVD detection of CD/DVD player.
