ACHI to IDE

My hard drive on my Compaq Presario CQ57 Notebook pc is ACHI, it has no OS, and I have a spare disk XP Pro and license. My crappy BIOS (InsydeH20 Rev3.5 f.33) didn't drive like my old Desktop broke with a Phönix-Award BIOS options. Someone knows how to fix this? I'm stuck with just an iPod Touch.

You are the very welcome.

No, you burn a new CD.

Just follow the instructions.

    Hi there @BobMarley

I understand you are looking for assistance for the recovery of the BIOS by using the shortcut, or by using a USB key. I'm happy to help you with this.

Here are two documents for you to check. Of course, the first is specific to desktop computers and covers the shortcut key. The other property that for laptops also includes a section on the use of a USB device.

HP Notebook PC - restore BIOS

Also on the support forums, there is a process described by @HaggisCat, you can find of use in the preparation of a USB flash drive. You will need to have the correct BIOS softpaq to go with it.

  • Blue screen during installation of Windows XP on HP touchsmart 7320

    I have a HP touchsmart 7320 with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit pre-installed.

I have to install Windows XP (32 bit) next to Windows 7, so that I can run a costly professional application which meets the incompatibility issues with Windows 7.

Compatibility mode makes no difference. Virtual PC and XP mode are broken during the installation of the application. So its a way for me to have a dual-boot with Windows 7 ande Windows XP machine.

When I am installing Windows XP (all versions-family, professional, 32 or 64-bit with original CD always) gives a blue screen with strange characters and the following STOP message:

    | STOP 0X0000007E
    (0xc0000005, 0xf748e0bf, 0xf78da208, 0xf78d9f08)

    PCI.sys - address f748e0bf base at f7487000 datestamp 36d855c

I did a new Windows XP installation CD using nLite, "slipstreaming" of Service Pack 2 and AHCI SATA drivers I found here and they are proposed by this guide.

That seems to work for awhile, because the installation process went further. It passes the point where she was already giving the blue screen, but it gives blue screen in a later stage of the installation process and one other STOP message which is now:

    Hello:

I have another solution for you.

First, go to your Windows 7 installation and in Device Manager, click on IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers section.

Please confirm that you have the Intel (r) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.

If it's not the ACHI SATA controller you have, thanks for posting what you have.

Now, here is another method to install XP.

Go into your BIOS. Go to the menu of storage options. Change your SATA of ACHI to IDE emulation mode. Save the configuration at this time by pressing the F10 key and save your settings again when you leave.

    Now XP must install.

After XP is installed, please share back and I'll give you the instructions step by step to load the post SATA ACHI driver XP installation, so you can change your return to ACHI BIOS setting, so that you can dual boot your machine.

Currently, only XP will start with the value IDE BIOS. With the ACHI BIOS value, only W7 will start. That's why we need to load the drivers for XP achi sata once you have it installed.

I think that we can find all the XP drivers, you need to as well.

    Hello:

What I suggest you do is to go into your BIOS (Hit the F10 key) and navigate the system setup menu.

In this menu, you will find a submenu Configuration of the device. Change your SATA of ACHI to IDE device. Press the F10 key to save the settings and hit it again when you save the settings and exit the system setup menu.

Now boot from your XP installation disk and you should be able to install Windows XP Home edition without any error.

  • No partition recovery - no creator of disc to be

    URM this is a strange...

I have a new computer laptop tosh, brought for me via the DSA scheme in the United Kingdom (I am currently a student) and much supply company have removed windows Toshiba installation and gave me their setting including a custom, I don't like - I would go back for a Virgin copy of windows or the copy of windows tosh but I do not have access either at present it would appear.

I downloaded a copy of http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/8906-official-windows-7-sp1-disks/ burn to disc, but I get the error "A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you have a flash drive driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB, please insert it now. "I tried to use all the drivers 'support' company had installed (in a partition/folder and told me), but no work - have also tried to change the ACHI mode IDE in the BIOS and that did not help so changed it back. I looked in support of tosh, but pilots do not appear in the list.

I have also an automatic win 7 32 bit enterprise install on a USB key since the days of work undertaken and studies from (70-680), this does not give me the error and allows me to install windows. (on another partition for now). I don't want to use it because I does not have a business license and have the OEM license with the laptop so would use it.

which leave the people I'm doing?

I suggest you order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx's original Toshiba recovery disc
It costs 30 euro only, and you will get the original recovery image designed for your laptop model.

With other words, in just one or two hours you have perfectly will install OS with all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities. Good thing is you can use this disc so often you want and every time you clean OS pre-installed and activated.

  • Problems with the 64-bit on Pavilion a6620f Vista Factory restore

I had a hard drive failure and restoration on a new hard drive. The original HD is a 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 model ST 3500620AS. The new HD is a 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 model ST 3500641AS - RK. I bought a set of restore for this HP computer disks.

First problem was that disk 1 does not start from the internal CD/DVD drive. My Seagate drive boots fine on the same drive! I used an external USB CD/DVD drive and restore disks worked well on that. I went through the process of factory restore and in the end, I get an error message "installing Windows could not configure Windows to run on this computer hardware." I tried to change the BIOS setting from ACHI and IDE to SATA RAID with no luck. I tried to unplug the USB CD drive before the first reboot. That no longer works.  I unplugged the internal CD drive and tried different combinations with no luck. Need help I have run out of things to try! Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts?

    Hello:

I don't know how you can get your recovery discs to work.

Looks like you have tried everything.

I had problems with mine too and got the same error on a HP Elite 8200 desktop computer business

It was the first time I've ever had a problem with recovery disks.  It's very frustrating.

I have a workaround if all goes well, you can use to get Vista on your PC...

If you can read your 25-character product key MS, you can make your own Windows Vista installation disc. You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

I tested both of them (just before going forward with the actual facility) and they seem to work perfectly.

Apparently, when you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-Microsoft-Windows-VI...

After you have successfully installed vista, you can download the drivers you need your PC support and driver page.

  • HPE H8-1110 SUPPORT RAID?

Currently I have a H8-1110 and would like to know if it supports Raid1.

Before going to another HARD drive, I started to search.

In the configuration menu, I get the SATA ACHI or IDE EMULATION... no Raid.

Does this mean that I'm out of luck?

    Hello:

I extensively searched and could not find any information that indicates support for a RAID configuration.

If there is no RAID option in the BIOS, I don't think you can set up a RAID configuration.

  • Error while installing windows Xp on my E Aspire 13 ES1-311-C4VK. Error is STOP: 0x0000007E.urgent pls help

I tried so many times to install windows xp on my Aspire E 13 ES1 boot cd - 311 - C4VK.Xp first, then load something. After that, it shows the error:

    STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF73B9D66, 0XF78D9EA0, 0XF78D9BC)

    ACPI.sys - address F73B9D66 base at F73AE000, DateStamp 480252 b 1.

    I need urgent help.

And another thing, I want that it is not possible to change the sata ACHI to ide mode. Isn't it possible to change?

    Why windows XP?

It is not longer supported by Microsoft and other SOFTWARE, and it is the best OS to have viruses, rootkits and other infections.

you will be also problems of drivers/hardware as acpi.sys

If you need windows XP for some old software, try to use a virtual machine or buy a second hand laptop.

Go in the BIOS and in the storage options menu, change the SATA from ACHI to IDE emulation Mode.

Save the setting it by hitting the F10 key and again when you go out.

  • Clean Windows XP install on Pavilion P7-1036 (P7-1000)... Possible?

    Hello

I recently bought five desktop computers Pavilion P7-1036 comes pre installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  Computers have been purchased for a company that upgrades their main software used to run the business every day.  Their old software will not work under Windows 7.  So I need to downgrade to Windows XP for about six months.  I have tried to install a licensed version of Windows XP Pro on one of the machines and will have absolutely no chance.  I was home for about six hours.  Could someone install XP on one of these computers?  I can run the new software in XP at the moment, but should return to Windows 7 once the new firmware is ready.

    Thank you!

I'm a fool...  I changed the setting from ACHI to IDE, but I never hit F10 to accept the change.  I lost hours because I can't read...  Laughing out loud.  Thanks for your help.  Now the installation of XP Professional.

On an off note, the motherboard is an ipisb-cu Pegatron...

  • HP dv7t CTO Notebook BIOS

I have a laptop of HP dv7t with a Crucial SSD installed.

Crucial has published an update of firmware for this SSD.  Installation via the CD requires that the user enter the computer BIOS settings and change the setting of

    SATA to IDE

I can't get into the BIOS on my laptop, but I can't find any reference to the SATA or IDE anywhere.

    Am I missing something?

    Hello:

    You are not missing anything.

You cannot change the setting from ACHI to IDE BIOS.

The default value is ACHI and it can be changed to anything else.

Normally the only HP notebooks that allow this setting to change are professional laptops.

  • BIOS HP pavilion m7463 problem

    Hello

I was given a hp pavilion m7463, who had died, so I gave him a new hard drive which works very well.  I even just got a new monitor as well.  Now this computer came originally with XP... but it wouldn't work on the disk hard that I added, but I got a copy of Vista to run.  Thanks to all that the computer worked well.

Earlier today, I tried to update the BIOS because installed was a bit outdated and does not support boot from USB drives.  The old BIOS version was 3.15, and I downloaded the new version (3.19) directly at HP.  After the installation of the new BIOS, the computer continues trying to start, but he can not find windows or a handle than some delivers so it restarts, then tries again and the process keeps going.  You try to run repair from cd vista did not help.

It seems that if I restore the BIOS to 3.15 so I should be able ti solve the problem, and I'm fairly certain that I can install the BIOS if I can get my hands on a copy.  The problem seems to be that HP has a TERRIBLE site when it comes to drivers.  I can find the drivers/BIOS current listed, but no where is I was able to find a list of Alumni BIOS/driver to download.  So 2 questions...

    1. just install the old BIOS will fix my problem more likely?  If this is not the case, what I should try?

2 - does anyone know where I can find the BIOS HP version 3.15 for the motherboard ASUS P5LP - THE (and I need a version of vista/xp of the BIOS or is it important?

    Thanks for the help.

It is possible, at a distance, you need to install the SATA ACHI drivers on this model.

See if there is a setting in the BIOS under storage options to change the setting from ACHI to IDE, if such an option exists to the controller.

If it is set to DCIS, is why you can not install XP without loading the AHCI drivers at the F6 prompt you get when you start the installer of XP.

Vista and W7 have these drivers as part of the Setup disk, where XP does not work as it was released before such things ACHI.

If you have such a context and can change to IDE or legacy, XP will load right up.

  • Installed Windows 7 in SATA IDE value controller

This may or may not be a silly question, but I'm extremely curious.

I reinstalled Windows 7 on my HP p6210f, using the recovery disks that I made.  However, I still had the controller SATA IDE, value, because I had a different hard drive in this machine that has Windows XP.  Of course, Windows 7 wouldn't start, and realizing my mistake immediately, I went into the BIOS and changed the AHCI controller.  Windows 7 has started then fine.  Windows 7 seems to work OK, but I want to know whether or not I could have caused a potential problem that may arise later.

If it makes any difference, I noticed that all of the devices listed in the Device Manager have no points mark next to them.

Another quick easy question: a factory restore is possible if there is a different amount of memory in the computer, or a different size than the original hard drive?

    Hello:

As I have indicated above, no harm has been done loading W7 in IDE mode. No damage will result, some bad things will happen.

But since you don't mind doing another restore... I would like to change the setting from ACHI and do another cover so the hard drive can enjoy the NCQ.

  • P6230Y impossible to use ACHI on new hard drive

I checked the features of motherboard and it should be able to do SATA to 3.0Gbs. I checked the new hard drive and it should be compatible with 3.0Gbs. However, the only way I can run Windows 7 is if I put the drive in the Bios to use IDE. Any attempt to use ACHI crashes when you try to launch Windows 7. The only factor, it recognizes the hard drive's controller Standard dual channel PCI IDE on DVD and hard drive. When I try to change the driver for the AMD ACHI controller it locks the computer and I am unable to get to any place where I can change the driver again, so I have to do a restore 3 + hour of backup. All the Solutions to get this working.

I had to reboot since the partition recovery and restoration of the machine as long as the plant. Once I've restored then should start after you set the computer to AHCI. This time he did start Windows Windows picked up the driver AHCI Standard.

Next steps. I noticed the driver that Windows 8.1 loaded and then reloaded my computer from my backup. Yet once, it starts as IDE only. I uninstalled the IDE drivers, the last of them was noted first and then changed one for the AHCI Standard driver. I rebooted and changed the drive in AHCI in the BIOS. The computer started properly using AHCI. Then, I went and did a update driver because the Microsoft driver performed since 2006. Microsoft has then found the AHCI AMD driver who was from 2013 and everything has worked fine since then.
