  I installed a new Pro 850 Samsung 1 TB SSD drive which replaced a Samsung 256 GB SSD.  However, I am unable to get the computer to start with I select AHCI mode in the BIOS of the reader.   I can only boot into RAID mode and magician then tells me to activate the AHCI for optimal performance.

  The following system information is provided:

  Thank you very much!.  I tried to solve this problem for days.  I had already installed a new copy of Windows 8.1, so I've been worreid I need to start over, but I do not have.  All I had to do was follow you to start in safe mode.   I then rebooted in UEFI, changed the RAID on AHCI and disabled Secure Boot.  The system then finished the re-boot and is in AHCI mode.  I have not lost all data on my three internal drives (1 SSD and 2 hard drives).  For some reason, he did reformat a NAS attached, but I don't have something out there that was not saved.

• Satellite P100: How to activate the AHCI mode?

  As all you know, some laptops P100 series are equipped with a controller Intel 82801GBM SATA natively supports the AHCI and with a Fujitsu HDD which takes in charge the NCQ.

  However, the disc is forced in compatibility mode, and therefore the NCQ is disabled, resulting in a loss of performance (which is certainly necessary that laptop hard drives are generally slower than those of office).

  Unfortunately, there is no option in the BIOS which activates the AHCI mode and no tool like HWUtility that can twist that (although it wouldn't work). As far as I know, newer laptops support AHCI mode and there is also an option in the BIOS to enable it.

  Is it possible to activate the AHCI mode in our laptops beloved and make the most of our hard drives?

  Could someone tell me how to activate the slide feature on my trackpad for the HP ENVY X 2 15? I have read the forums and see that most of the responses suggest going to the properties of the mouse. I don't have the trackpad tab in my mouse properties. It doesn't let me access the Microsoft Arc Mouse settings. Other features seem to work on the trackpad. I can pinch to zoom, tap two finger, two finger roll. Just no sliding feature turned on. I really liked this feature on my Surface 3 Pro.

  I can't find any information indicating the touchpad supports scans of edge, which is usually listed in the product specifications. This could be due to the touchpad and keyboard is connected via Bluetooth on this particular model.

• G9 - 791 tried to activate the AHCI in the BIOS, killed for laptop

  Since I've upgraded to a SSD, I tried to activate the AHCI in the BIOS mode, just like I did with my Alienware laptop.  After changing the setting and restart, I was unable to boot the system (it's ok), but also unable to get into the BIOS to change it back to the RAID.

  Which led me to return the laptop to the place where I bought it and get a new, still under warranty.  Is there a reason any BIOS gets damaged when you change this setting?  I'd like to use the AHCI mode instead, but I can't afford another laptop brick.

  I got it! I actually downloaded and installed the most recent Intel (14.8.XXX), and then changed RST 4 setting in my registry to reflect the changes of the AHCI. Restarted without enabling AHCI in the BIOS, to make the site everything was still good. Perfect. Return restarted to the BIOS and activated ONLY AHCI. Does not all other parameters. Rebooted (twice), and everything works!

  There is no way to do what you want.

  AHCI is enabled by default, and there is absolutely no way to change this.

  If you want to install Windows XP, then you should read the guide at the link below, read the Intel section and then read the downloadable document to integrate all drivers.

I read that using the SSD in AHCI mode will further improve the performance of the disk. My question is how can I activate the AHCI in bios dell. the only im options given are SATA and RAID. Is it possible to run AHCI? Any help is appreciated. I have better than average knowledge with pc, s but far from an expert. Thank you

  If your bios allows, you can find passage to the raid (even if you have only a single boot drive) can put you in ahci mode. Before making the change in the bios, you will have to do some registry tweaks like just change the bios setting you will get a bsod when you start.

  To enable switching between RAID/AHCI/IDE mode, you will need to change the values 'Start' in these key 0

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci\Start

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pciide\Start

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iaStorV\Start

  Once you make these changes, restart and set AHCI/raid in BIOS, save the changes and then restart.

  I'm so concerned - very disappointed - as to why I can't activate and use the "Scan to computer" utility from HP. It does not work from the laptop computer side or from the printer control panel.

  If you have HP scanning or a previous version of HP Easy Scan in the Applications folder or HP subfolder, delete it by moving it to the trash, and then empty the trash.
  
  Install the latest HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed in the Applications folder:

  It must be enabled on the box. To check the status to go looking for Windows 8 bar and type Intel Rapid Storage and do appear on the console of the TSRI. It should display the cache of the road and the ordinary hard drives and the "performance" tab will tell if "acceleration" is enabled.

  You might need more than 8 GB of RAM to run 5 computers... the only main and 4 virtual machines. I suspect you just lack of RAM. Users who try to run as many virtual machines need 16 gigs and upward.

  This is the first time I see that the windows firewall is disabled and when I try to turn the action center it shows like below. then when I click on manual settings it shows as the second screen.

  I tried to install the updates from HP, but it shows again a red alert in the Security State, see below.

  Currently, using Quick heal Total security and it is valid for 3 years.

  As you have difficulties to turn the firewall please find the steps below to resolve this issue.

  Perform the following steps and install automatic updates and then try to turn on the firewall.

  Run an online scan to check any virus or any other malicious software:

  Run as Administrator Security Center;
  http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/understanding-security-and-safe-computing

  Perform the following steps and update the computer:

  1. click on start, type Notepad in the start search box, and then click Notepad in the list programs.

  2 copy the following text, and then paste the text into Notepad:

  start wuauserv sc config = auto

  SC config bits start = auto

  SC config start = auto DcomLaunch

  net stop wuauserv

  net start wuauserv

  net stop bits

  net start bits

  net start DcomLaunch

  Click file, click Save as, and then type Repair.bat.

  3. in the file type box, click all files (*. *).

  4. in the save box, click Desktop, and then click Save.

  5. in the file menu, click on exit.

  6. right - click on the Repair.bat file that you saved in step 5, and then click Run as administrator. This action starts the required services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

  I appreciate that you try to find a way to activate the NumLock feature on startup.

  Try this simple regedit:

  1. run the registry editor. (Windows key + R, regedit, OK)
  2. navigate to (and click on) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard
  3. change the value of the InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.

  NOTE: Always back up the registry before making changes. Make it open regedit window and click file > export... Save the file to a location that you will remember. If something happens after editing the registry, you can start in safe mode and Open regedit to import the backup version.

  The registry should remember if the NUMLOCK is turned on or off when you turn off your laptop. Make sure that the NUMLOCK is turned on before you turn off your PC.

  I just bought a new Phoenix h9-1350 HP Envy, running under Windows 8 64-bit on i7-3770. I want to activate the Hyper-V technology. I have looked at the BIOS settings and cannot see an option for Data Execution Prevention. According to other threads like this one to another desire with the same motherboard, it should be in respect of the security of the system. But all I see is the option for virtualization.

  Does anyone know if there is another way to turn on DEP? Do I need a BIOS update? The version I see is FOR_814.ROM V8.14

  You must run Windows 8 Pro and VT must be enabled in the bios.  Go to the Control Panel - programs and features, and then click Windows features turn on or off.  Check Hyper-V as it is not defined by default.  See the image below.

  

  Click OK, and then restart.
