  • How to match existing users to LDAP? (And other questions of LDAP)

    Hello

We received our license to upgrade to the paid version of SocialCast. We have 140 active users and they recorded manually. It would be great if I could now connect LDAP to SocialCast and found a few pages of help on how to do it. However, none of them doesn't really explain what's going to happen, so I have a few questions:

-As I have already manually registered users while we still had no LDAP, how can I now connect LDAP without removing / overwriting the users. Users LDAP will be accompanied by email with existing users?

-Is my correct assumption that after you enable LDAP, everyone can connect through LDAP?

-Their password (account created manually) will change the password from LDAP? (Our password to Active Directory)

-When a user leaves the company, and we disable AD account, will be disabled so SocialCast account?

-When a change of user LDAP properties (for example, new phone number), will this update in SocialCast? How many times the LDAP protocol performs an update?

    Concerning

    Gabrié

Sorry, sogolmotiey , but this is not completely accurate.

My comments are based on the SaaS version, if you have on-prem, it may be different.

-As I have already manually registered users while we still had no LDAP, how can I now connect LDAP without removing / overwriting the users. Users LDAP will be accompanied by email with existing users?

As long as the used with LDAP email addresses match the emails from existing users and new accounts will not be created

Not quite true.  Be careful when you specify employee_number and/or unique_identifier. By example, if you specify a unique_identifier in ldap.yml is not email address and run LDAP synchronization, it absolutely * will * create duplicate users, even if the emails matching.

-Is my correct assumption that after you enable LDAP, everyone can connect through LDAP?

All user accounts will be implemented through LDAP

All accounts will be marked as 'provisioned from a directory' but to be clear, users do not log * through * ldap.  It is an intermittent user data synchronization.  Socialcast does not query LDAP when users connect and sync tool does not have passwords.

-Their password (account created manually) will change the password from LDAP? (Our password to Active Directory)

Their passwords will not change with LDAP, unless you decide to implement SSO, which is a supplement

Fix. As in the previous question, LDAP sync copies only the basic user data and will not sync password.

-When a user leaves the company, and we disable AD account, will be disabled so SocialCast account?

The user will become an "alumni", which means that it will not have access to the community, but the user content will remain in the community

It depends on.  The LDAP filter that you set up in ldap.yml must return only the users you want in Soicalcast, i.e. ensure that the filter does not return users with disabilities AD.  When the available tool runs, it will be 100% synchronization HC users with what he gets from LDAP. Thus, any user of SC who is not in LDAP results will be disabled, any new user in LDAP results will be created in SC.  To do this, * not * respond to the active/disabled state, your LDAP filter must handle this.

-When a change of user LDAP properties (for example, new phone number), will this update in SocialCast? How many times the LDAP protocol performs an update?

Yes - usually every 24 hours

Once again, since Socialcast does not connect to or query LDAP directly, it is not automatic update interval.  You would update SC by running the tool available LDAP to how often you want to, for example the daily cronjob or scheduled task.

  • I'll be able to install Windows 10 from scratch and use my Vista license to activate Windows 10?

Original title: 10 free for Vista Windows?

    Hello

I know that Windows 10 will be a free Windows 7 upgrade or 8/8.1 for the first year.  I run Vista Ultimate, and I would like to upgrade to Windows 10 as well.  I'm not interested in upgrading my Vista installation - it's almost 10 years and it's time to start over.  I'll be able to install Windows 10 from scratch and use my Vista license to activate Windows 10?  I totally understand don't want not to support an upgrade of a system of directly to 10 Microsoft Windows Vista, but Vista licenses will be able to 'upgrade' to Windows 10 licenses?  I have not found information on it online.  Everything speaks to us (ameioration) for Windows 7/8/8.1 for Windows 10.  It would be a shame for Microsoft to extend an olive branch to some legitimate users of Windows and others do not.

    Thank you

It's a little more complicated that you might have a few running services that you can do without.

Also some programs add services that might not really need to start automatically.

To see these compare these in Start - type in the search box-> find Services at top right click on RUN AS ADMIN as the default Vista as shown here by BlackViper. Ignore and who are disabled (which do not run) or manual (which work only on request) - for any automatic or automatic delayed start you can post them here if you need help to decide if you should run. Some of these can be assigned to the stop and
Manual if the program calling can run them as needed.

BlackViper made also some improvements to default windows services but I wouldn't do those unless you
really understand the full meaning of change a default service. Then use it as a tool to compare.

I installed Microsoft Security Essentials today and I'm trying to edit startup programs. Whenever I try to change the settings for startup from the Control Panel, a pop up tells me that I need to activate Windows Defender and open.  However, most of the security will not allow Windows Defender be turned on and I want to change the startup parameters.  How can I accomplish this?

    Hello

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

It was actually some other colors as well for titles and the community table.

I've updated my page to use the 15 theme color palette and add a title for the popup. Of course, the normal alert/confirmation messages appear differently in different browsers, so there is no style of message that I could imitate - I just used colors and something resembling theme 15 ish

  • How do I move/transfer all files/folders etc. from one user to another-windows xp sp3

because I couldn't get some apps to work reading under my username, I created a new user and they work, but I don't want the two users.  How can I mover everything of the old user to the new user?

Sign in with your administrator account, go to C:\Documents and Settings and you will find all users. Copy the files/folder that you want from a user and paste to the other user. For example, you can copy files from C:\Documents and Settings\User1\Desktop and paste to C:\Documents and Settings\User2\Desktop.

  • Unable to activate Windows XP Home Edition after the repair facility.

Of that, I was running a Dell Dimension 5000 bought from the Dell website in 2005. After this computer from run very slowly, I decided on an upgrade. So I removed the hard drive of this computer with XP Home Installation and everything what it intact and plugged the hard drive into a completely new computer (that I bought and customized piece by piece). I also installed Windows XP Pro using the ability of XP to run dualboot. Now the Pro works well, but has of course none of the programs of the host OS installed as even if Pro and Home are installed on the same drive C, Pro of course did not the registry of home settings. That's fine, but when I chose the House to the splash screen immediately after my computer upward once again, I have encountered an error saying that Windows has shut down the computer to prevent damage etc. by a blue screen of death. So I fixed installed House, by inserting the Home CD in the CD drive (which is also new and I bought, not even the one from my old computer to 2005), choice of APPETIZER and not the repair console and then clicking R to repair the detected existing OS. I fixed installed and I was thrilled when the problem has been resolved. When I chose the House and after having set up, I was greeted by the familiar screen with users that I had set up on my PC of 2005. When I clicked the user admin, typed the password, he accepted the password and then a box came up saying I had to activate Windows before I could open a session. By clicking on the number resulted in the user disconnects automatically before the start menu or desktop appeared. Clicking Yes led me to a screen that gives me the choice to choose between online and phone activation. As my entire computer (except for the hard drive) is new, the internet network adapter is also new, and that's why the internet settings (the 2005 model old) which I had not yet changed on the Pro Installation do not allow me to activate via the net. I tried via telephone following all the instructions and punch in the 25 digit code generated by the wizard in the phone and told me that the operator could not generate a code (for me 2 type in the boxes provided and therefore use to activate XP Home). I then shut down the PC, went to the installation of Pro, changed the IP settings according to the instructions given to me by the ISP to the phone and checked the net now works on installation of Pro IE. It worked, and I now turned off, chose the House and tried to activate on the net and there is not yet well make sure that my computer is connected to the net. I even clicked on the phone option and changed my ID by typing my OEM 25 product key numbers and clicking Refresh. I tried again by phone and still could not activate my installation in a House. The installation CD home I used was the 2 me by my Builder (a purple disk saying OPERATING SYSTEM: ALREADY INSTALLED on YOUR COMPUTER). This CD certainly isn't a forgery because I ordered directly from DELL and not even the 2005 Bill to prove it. Is it because I changed my system components and not my hard drive with it, which is the origin of this problem? How can I fix this without backup everything and remove the installation of the House and then re - install?

"ArjunC" wrote in message News: 3df4138b-2174-4cb1-821e-0527dc60da2c...

In fact the Windows XP Pro has been installed by the people who moved the hard drive to the new computer. I never asked for it. But remove XP Pro still wouldn't solve my problem. I need to find a way to use my original of 25 characters product key or get a key of success generated by phone so that I can log on to Windows XP Home Edition and continue to use my PC as how I used my old. Some people have told me that I can convince to install MS by phone that I transferred the disk hard - 2 a new computer and then tried a repair but the problem is that all the numbers given on Activation Wizard phone are automated, giving instructions, asking the ID generated by the wizard and then telling me that they are unable to generate an ID for activation. If there is human here, how do you convince a machine of my innocence :)

You need to reinstall using an XP Home OEM disk - see if one of your friends has one you can borrow. The key on your COA sticker will be valid for this.
You can also contact Dell and ask them to provide a set of disks in your machine - for a price.
