• NewElementInHierarchy() - adding new items, gradually takes more time when adding several brothers and sisters

  With my script ESTK, users select the model numbers in the list and then the script inserts an element with a model number is entered in an attribute, an element for each selected model.

  When you add a large number of elements, each element of extra brother takes a little more then the previous item adds. Adding 250 items may take longer than 3-1/2 minutes or more. During the addition of 20, 50 or 75 items happens quickly, without any noticeable length. It is somewhere in the top 110, this is where that starts to get noticed.

  I even used $.hiresTimer and writes the value to the console for each time a model has been added. Because the timer is reset to zero (0) whenever it is called, it was easier to notice than the amount that it incremented from one element to the other got progressively bigger.

  Any ideas as to why it takes so long or reflections on what I could do to speed it up?

  I seriously considered trying to copy/paste and started to change the code to do it. But I could not let pass, the answer should be right there in front of me, it's all too long that I worked with this stuff, I am not able to see. Then it dawned on me what's happening.

  In a previous test, I put a timer on each action that is closed. For example, I start with a container element that has 200 children of elements, each with a specific/unique model number attribute. All the 200 existing items are deleted and then replaced with 250 new items with a different value for the attribute of model number. The timer was placed after the Element.Delete () and ElementDef.NewElementInHierarchy () methods. What I've noticed with the timer, it's that each deleted item has been removed as fast as the previous item (so it took progressively less and less time to remove an item). And of course the opposite was noted for insert items, each inserted item has taken longer than the previous inserted item.

  These elements can be inserted in two areas of the structure, one of the neighborhoods within format rules that affect the formatting and is actually a bit faster. This led me to the cause being ESD format rules. The area that takes more time has quite a few rules of extensible format that apply. Whenever an element is inserted or deleted, FrameMaker through these rules for formatting the content of elements. Given that the rules apply to the parent, first, last, next, previous, etc., FrameMaker must apply the rules of the format to all elements of the structure that the rules (which are extremely complex due to various elements, attribute values, and combinations that can be inserted).

  Removal or thinning of the FormatRules in ESD, she becomes faster. But each of the FormatRules are needed. So using app. ApplyFormatRules = false; just before that the elements are deleted and inserted works very well.   One of your user names contain a space by chance?  Because I see a similar behavior and I followed it down to user names (and therefore IM addresses) that contain spaces fundamentally break totally Cisco Jabber, but CUPC 8.5.5 works very well with them.

• Adding new items to a Master Page and share them to existing pages

  I need to include new elements of navigation on the master page and I want it appear on the pages that I have already created. I added the new elements on a layer of their own which is part of the master page, but the layer on the part of Pages... option is grayed out.

  OK there are two Associates as I see it.

  Each of your pages is made up of a solid, opaque, for a main image bitmap.
  Master Pages, by default, are at the bottom of the layer stack. Your
  tabs ARE present, you just can't see them because they are covered by
  the bitmap image.

  Assuming that you do not have these page images of the elements multiple objects,
  where you can change the blue background, there are always two things you
  can do, which are pretty easy.

  Go to each page and temporarily lower the opacity of the layer 1.
  Use the marquee tool to draw a selection around the area of the tabs.
  Delete the selection.
  Replace the lay full opacity.

  OR

  Try to drag the master page to the top of the layer stack in each page.
  Hide or remove the master page background.
  This option is a little more complicated, but I've been able to do. Expect that the

  I ve seen scenarios "duplicate", before even a bunch of mac applications that helps you to find or get rid of duplicate files on the hard drive in order to save space. This isn't my case this time, however, and by the way, this isn't a weird-o case. I m sure that many of us find our selfs in a similar situation each time than in quite awhile.

  So please, keep on reading.

  I have a (1) small unique file folder full of (hundreds) with no subfolder in there system and (2) one big lot of (in thousands) files, folders, subfolders, and files more... arranged in a complex scheme of directory.

  Most of the files in the folder (1) have a copy in folder (2), and that's OK. In fact what I need is to make sure that all THE files in the folder (1) have an exact copy in folder 2 regardless of it s heritage.

  I can go through the process of checking each file one by one and once again find its copy in folder (2), remove it in folder (1). In this way, I'll finish with a tiny bit back (1) with only a few files which´s copy could not located in the folder (2).

  Is it possible to automate the process?, using automator maybe?, you know an app that can help me reach this goal?

  Conceptually, it's pretty simple - a small AppleScript, or maybe shell script and you're done.

  As always with these questions, however, the devil is in the details. In this case, what constitutes - specifically - a match? are files with the same name considered a match? What happens if one is more recent/old plus grand/smaller than the other? they are still a match? that should keep? the most recent? the largest?

  Once that specify you, the rest should be easy.

• How auto search for fotos duplicate within an event

  When I down load pictures from different sources on my iMac, there are opportunities to double, but the pictures do not appear next to each other, as the dates of these photos are not the same; so in a file large, they could be anywhere. I don't know there is a way to automatically search for duplicates by using images rather than dates, etc.?

  iPhoto has no tools to detect duplicates.

  Try third-party applications to find duplicates:

  • Duplicate Annihilator
  • iPhoto Library Manager
  • Sweeper duplicate

  My problem is that the listview is not get automatically updated when a new item is added to the datamodel (a favorite channel is added). I have to exit the application and restart to see the updated list.

  QListDataModel does not expose its internal storage directly. It is possible to reconstruct the map by performing an iteration in a loop (with the help of data() and size() methods), the dataModel entries:

• The search for 'new' emails are NO emails unread.

Thus, in order to 'find' where they are quickly, I try a search for 'new' emails. There is NO search condition for 'unread', so I'm looking for "new". Thunderbird apparently does not recognize emails unread as new.

  How to make this work properly? Where can I get 'no read' versus 'new '?

  I also had this issue. After some googling I discovered the solution: go to settings > general > Spotlight search. A huge list of apps is listed here under "Search results" and new is one of them. You can press the switch to turn it off.
