Add the pci video card

Hello

I am the proud owner of a refurbished Lenovo T400 - 6475FP1, with a P8400, 4 GB of DDR3 memory and an Intel GMA video card.

I know that the T400 is a series of graphics cards switchable (they start with 2 No 6) and I think, the motherboard must be the same for all types of law of T400? so that would mean that I could buy a pci video card and make mine with switchable graphics right?

If I'm right, then what type of card is good?

If I'm not, could you explain why?

Thank you very much

the ATI graphics card is soldered to the motherboard, the only way you can update your graphics card on your T400, is physically change your motherboard to a card mother T400 with an ATI graphics card.

You can not.  Turning off the video of the motherboard when adding a PCIe card is a 'feature '.

  • Windows 7 - Pci to Pci bridge (error: Code 10)-PCI video card

Before that I declare my problems I will list what I'm running and I am trying to accomplish.

I'm under edition 64-bit of Windows 7 Enterprise, not the Beta or RC. I have 3 video cards in my possession (listed below).
    -(PCIe) Evga GTX260
    -(PCI) Evga 9400GT
    -Evga (PCI) Fx5500
Out of these 3 cards I only use the GTX260 and the 9400GT. I had to "retire" the Fx5500 because drivers latest WHQL (certified) only provided support as far down as the cards of Nvidia "6 series". Unfortunately the Fx5500 is a 'series 5' and falls below this line. I already tried to use the GTX260 and Fx5500 in earlier versions of Windows (XP and Vista), but there is no way to download and install two separate drivers for two of the same video card do - you will have nothing else to errors. There is the option to go to a place like guru3d.com and download a supported driver custom which covers both the GTX260 Fx5500, but drivers are not certified and lack support. Therefore, I bought and now use the 9400GT is covered by pilots for the GTX260, which eliminates the need for messing around with custom drivers. Also, the 9400GT has a better graphics processor and more memory than the Fx5500, so it was time to upgrade anyway.

Now that you have some info here is my problem, whenever I have install the 9400GT as I get a second entry "pci to pci bridge" (the other entrance has no errors) that appears under "System devices" in Device Manager. The entrance of bridge pci to pci second has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point, which refers to a problem. When you check the properties of this unit it is more or less said that Windows has detected a problem (error Code 10). The GTX260 is still working and still comes in "graphics cards" as a GTX260, but there is no entry for the 9400GT. I tried the 9400GT in two PCI ports and each time it does the same thing. If I get out the GTX260 and ONLY operate the 9400GT, I always get the question of the pci to pci bridge, BUT I get a picture and can boot into Windows 7 without a hitch. When I do that it is still nothing listed under "graphics cards" as a 9400GT or even a VGA compatible device.

After messing around with this for 10 hours (Yes, I said 10 hours) I decided to dig my retirement (the Fx5500) PCI video card. When I installed this card I had no entry bridge PCI to pci 2nd appear under "System Devices", and one that appeared had no yellow triangle or error codes. I then checked under "Graphics cards" and Windows 7 it was recognized as a VGA-compatible device and asked for drivers.

Now, I have concluded that there is absolutely no problem with the motherboard or my material (including video cards). In a first time EVGA support and I had suspected that the motherboard may be bad because of all the pre-diagnostic steps I had taken during my test of 10 hours. I won't enumerate what I did because it would literally take 3 hours to type everything in it. Just believe me when I say I've tried many things including but not limited to the latest bios updates (flashed 4 times and reset to ensure accuracy), IRQ customized management, all OS X 2, multiple/latest chipset drivers installed, reinstalling video multiple/last drivers installed, memtest test, complete equipment disassembly and re - build (adding a device at a time) and MUCH more. The only thing I have not tried installing another OS other than Windows 7 64 - bit to see if I could reproduce the problem. It's a waste of time, but because that let's say I install Windows XP Pro and the 9400GT doesn't have this problem... Well, that's fine, but who cares on XP Pro when I used it for the last 9 years and when I have a version full of Windows 7 I want to use? I'm certainly not running XP Pro on Windows 7 just to use the PCI video card. Second, if I install XP Pro and it always gives me the same error of bridge pci to pci and then, I only lost more time than because if it s not to go to work or the other OS, then I m sure that hell will not leave XP Pro installed when I use Windows 7.

  • Add HD 4850 video card in HP Envy 700-215xt

I want to add a Radeon HD 4850 HD-485 X-ZNFC video card in HP Envy 700-215xt (model: F9A62AV) whose video card (Intel HD Graphics, DVI - D graph) is too poor to run Samsung monitor (24in).  HD 4850 videocard needs connector 6 pin power, but I can't find the power connector or cable. What should I do?

The PSU minimum power, with a PCIe power connector 6-pin requirement is 450 watts.

Your PC has a 300 Watt POWER supply. Is not enough power for the XFX video card.

You must also upgrade the PSU to intensify your graphics card for a XFX HD4850 video card.

If you are unable to get a graphical output on the 24-inch display, then it is likely to be a problem with the display or the cable.  You may not be the entry configured to automatically recognize a video signal. You can test that by connecting the original display. If you get a video output to the original display there is nothing wrong with the motherboard or the CPU. Intel HD4600 graphics are provided by the CPU, not a graphics card.

  • Pavilion P7 - 1050t: update on the Best video card

Hello, I upgraded my Pavilion P7 - 1050t a G620 processor i7 - 2600S with 8 GB of ram. Then, I want to upgrade to a dedicated video card and a new PSU. The State plug a PCIe x 16 expansion slot does not 2.0 or 3.0. I want to make sure that I get the best card I can get maximum use of. Any suggestions?

    Cgrech79, welcome to the forum.

New video cards require the UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS / Legacy.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid - October, 2012.  Your motherboard may not be upgraded in the UEFI.  The last video cards that does not need UEFI were 640 gt.  The PCI Express slot is 1.0 unless it is specified otherwise.  The version 2.0 and 3.0 are backward compatible.

I suggest that you determine the video card from the manufacturer that you want to buy and contact their Technical Support to help you choose the best card for your motherboard.

You need to upgrade the power supply (PSU), also.  The current PSU is 250W.  Most newer cards require at least 400W to work properly.  I love Corsair products.  I recommend that you buy a power supply at least 500W.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

  • Pavilion Slimline s3120N will not recognize the new video card

I can't get my computer to recognize and use a new video card. I tried 3 cards (GeForce 8400GS... cards 2different and Radeon HD 4550). The computer continues using the onboard video. For each card, I did the following:

Go to configuration, advanced and changed the main graphics card 'on board' to 'PCI-E '.

Saved and let the computer start.

Stop and insert the new video card into the PCI-E slot

Start the computer and installed the latest driver

    Computer restarts

No matter what I do, it always uses the embedded video. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. How can I use the PCI-E slot/video card? Any suggestions?

I think that your problem may be the power supply unit (PSU).  The video card that you have installed require a minimum of 300W/350W.  The power supply of your computer is perhaps only 180W; 220W at the most.  You can check by opening the case and by reading the label on.  It's just too much difference for the card to function properly.

Download and run install Belarc Advisor and look under the device device/display of the video section. What is the video card listed as (maybe not the memory here.)

Seems that it is probably an integrated video card and probably share memory with the system - which means that is likely to be located in the BIOS. If you go into THE system BIOS (before any operating system is loaded) you may be able to see and control this part.

Just look up, the best hypothesis, you set side 32 MB (megabytes) for video memory 1024 MB (megabytes) or 1 GB (gigabyte) memory system.  Two things lead me to this...

MEM: 32 MB and the total number of 992MB RAM.  If you add 32 MB to 992 MB, you get the 1024Mo - or 1 GB or total system RAM.

In any case - this is not a game machine.

  • H8 1241: problems with the new video card on h8 1241

OK, I've seen a lot of posts on this topic, but I couldn't find anything yet. I bought this computer as a windows 7, but have just upgraded to windows 10. The stock video card HDMI port came out, so I ordered an ASUS Geforce gtx 750ti to replace.

    http://www.Amazon.com/GP/product/B00IB9P1KG?PSC=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

When I try to boot with the new card I get the blue screen that tells me to Press esc to get into the BIOS, but it is freezing it (I am not able to get into the bios).

Currently, the only way to make changes are re - insert my old card. I can not even start without secondary card by using the on-Board (which could as a result of the changes that I made in the BIOS). Most of the solutions I've seen involved changes in version 8 of the BIOS but I can't get that. I tried to update my BIOS to the latest version for windows 7, but I don't think it worked b/c I am on windows 10 now.

    Help, please!

    Hello

The level of your PC motherboard BIOS is not compatible with the cards NVIDIA GXT 7xx series.

Contact ASUS to obtain redress. ASUS has maybe a video BIOS update or a different graphics card that will work in your PC.

A NVIDIA GTX 660 new or used may be your best bet.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

  • Error: "Hardware accelerator is disabled or not supported by your video make sure card driver you that you have the latest video card driver installed and the accelerator is running.

Original title: Solitaire stop working right after the update to download

This slowed the game.  I checked the video card is correct, and hardware accelerator says it's working properly.  This started after I downloaded two optional updates, one of them KB968930.  I uninstalled both of them and tried to restore the system with no result. the rest of the message is "Hardware accelerator is disabled rooms or not supported by your video make sure card driver that you install the latest video card driver and the accelerator is turned on."  I checked these things.

Thanks for the help.  I had fixed to date through the tool and the info of the performance.  Find where it says new hardware installed, click on repair, I did and it worked.  I don't know what caused the problem, but my game index had fallen to 1 and came back up to 3.3.  Thanks for the help. Hello

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: make sure the game is compatible with your computer.

Method 2: update the video card driver and check if that helps.

Update a hardware driver that is not working properly: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work properly

If both methods fail, you will then need to get a new video card.

    I hope that helps!
