"The connection between your access point router or modem cable, and the internet is broken"

It is a constant frustration for me sorce. My office gives me this error at least once per hour. I changed the wireless pci card (old one finally died but managed to stay in line!) to a usb dongle, and then to the diffenert pci card, and now I'm in a usb port, which is the same brand as the map oringal that worked. As it is, I can be online long enough to get hope and then... Poof nothing.  I do clean boots, refreshed earworm, did the whole ' IVF it ' was bound to him on a previous post, the netsh command reset. Nothing did. I know that's not the router because all other computers in the House including my laptop can connect.  What Miss me?

Any help would be loved!

Hey Tyler,

Thanks for the reply and keeping the status updated. I appreciate the troubleshooting that you tried it on the computer.

    Hello Terri,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem may occur because of damaged or incorrect network settings.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Run the network troubleshooting and check.
    Reference:
Using the troubleshooter from network in Windows 7

    Method 2:
Reset TCP/IP and check the issue.
    Refer to this article:

  • Satellite A210-171 - unable to connect to any access point or router

Hello. I don't know that this is the right forum. Not something I do normally but since I am desperate to solve this problem, I'll give it a shot.

So I bought a Toshiba Satellite A210-171 nearly a year ago. It has a built-in wireless driver.

The problem is, however, I can't seem to connect to any access point or router. What I end up getting most of the time are so a message saying that I am connected but with limited connectivity which means I can't access the internet. At other times, the network in range will appear in my network list, (with a signal strength excellent), but once I have select a message appears saying that the connection attempt has failed. And at other times my laptop detects the network connection and functions smoothly.

I do not understand of course. So if someone could explain to me why my laptop selects and selects Wireless connections, that it connects and how I can solve this problem, I would be grateful!

    Thanks in advance

Have you tried to update the driver on your laptop?
Check the Toshiba site for an update:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads-download drivers online

And if you are already on this site check for a BIOS update.

These symptoms may be more pronounced when on battery.

    Cause:
The PSP mode is a feature that provides the long battery life for laptops. It requires coordination between the AP or router and the Wi - Fi adapter. Intel has discovered that some APs or routers may not implement the feature correctly or completely.

Heard different things people try, depending on their wireless adapter.

Start, control panel, device, netowrk, their adapter, power management Manager. Clear the checkbox to allow windows to turn off this device to save power

Start, control panel, device, netowrk, their adapter, advanced management. Looking for antenna diversity. Some cards have it and others don't. Replace the Auto antenna by supply diversity

Some have disabled Wireless N of their card and achieved good results.

Some Wireless N adapters operate ONLY on the 2.4 GHz frequency.

Using these parameters of the recommended wireless router I use channel 11, have GREAT results. I usually recommend creating a new SSID to make the connection easier. Wireless devices also needs to connect to the NEW network.

  • How know if the router or modem cable is the problem with bad internet?

I have intermittent problems of internet home.  The internet goes out for very short periods, then back on several times a day. At various periods of time, usually in bunches up.  Then sometimes instead of being down for maybe a normal 15-30 seconds, it could last 5-20 minutes.  And there are also periods of hours sometimes where the speed is VERY slow.

When he is not at all working, Airport utility looks like in the following screenshot, with the orange Internet and other green devices.  Sometimes, it only shows the Internet icon and light, with nothing else underneath.  If the internet is very slow (and I mean really slow, like minute 2 page load or not at all), everything is green, including the Internet icon.

It is the Charter cable with a modem surfboard, connected to an older Airport Extreme (in mode not wireless) model, which is connected to three aircraft from the airport, you can see in the screenshot.  Everything works very well for 8 years, but these problems have taken place in recent months. I replaced since the cable modem for a brand new, I have reset the Airport Extreme to the factory settings and tried all sorts of other things.

It isn't the wireless aspect, because I can connect a computer to the ethernet jack and it has the same problems.

So here's what I want to know: is there a way I can tell if it's the Airport Extreme or if it's the Internet Charter being flaky?  (I know it's not the cable modem because it does the same thing that before I replaced it).  I just want to isolate the problem. I don't want to succumb to Charter calling again, as we think the run around, I'm going to forward all tech would come home, and they never admits to have flaky internet.

I bought a bolt of lightning to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter so I can plug my Macbook Air directly into the cable modem, without going through the Airport Extreme, but internet is not stay down long enough for me to access, plug it in and reboot the cable modem.   Frustrating.

Suggest that you connect the MacBook Air directly to the modem, connect the Mac to the Internet and keep an eye on the MacBook Air from time to time for at least one day complete.  A few days would be even better, if possible.

If the connection remains strong during your 'test', based on other information that you provide as...

connected to an older model Airport Extreme

    and

Everything works very well for 8 years

The first thought that comes to mind is that life expectancy, on average, for airport routers is about 5 years. It's on food, on average, at the start of the descent position.  Momentary grave start occurring, and the drops will increase in frequency over time.

It is a bet of $20, but you might consider replacing the external power for AirPort Extreme see if that provides any assistance.  This does nothing for the internal power inside the airport of course components.

  • HOWTO IOS upgrade the access point (router 881w) internal

    Hi experts,

When I try to access the web interface of our new router from Cisco 881w internal AP, I get only a small button 'Enter', nothing more. When I click on this button, nothing happens. According to this thread (https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2003325) it seems that I should update IOS AP internal to this router.

Now, my question is: How can I update the IOS of the internal HA?

A soft reset is performed on your computer Z22.  Look for the small "Reset" button on the back of the unit and press it with the tip of your pen or a paperclip.

Reset draw your Palm.  Try to HotSync again.

HotSync Manager is what your computer to connect to the computer Z22.  Do you see the HotSync icon in the lower tool bar?  If this isn't the case, you can not connect.  Go here:

Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You need not run memtest again unless you want to.
