Adding 2nd SSD precision 7510 m2

I just bought a laptop from precision 7510.  I ordered it with the following main and any secondary drive:

  • 400 AILW 256Go M.2 PCIe High Performance Solid State Drive, MPWS

I would like to add a second drive of NVMe m2 (maybe a Samsung 950 Pro) into the slot of the disk 2.5 ".  When you order the laptop, this is an option for high performance M.2 NVMe disc with 'infill '. Anyone know the part number for this 'leap '? There are other parts that I need to make this work?

Thank you!

@Morinomiya and Furo99,

Thank you for your questions.

5WNPC is a cable for 7510/7710:

WPTND is the M2 interposer board for 7510/7710

There is also a support M.2 listed for 7510/7710 Y1WJX:

M.2 thermal cover HR8P8

Next steps:

-I can confirm for you if it is possible to install a second m2, for systems already delivered by Dell

-I'll try to get installation instructions if it turns out that it is possible to upgrade

-You can send me a friend request and we'll talk about parts order/stock

In any State of cause, assuming that you have installed a hard drive was bought, it would be empty and needs be initialized (mounted) and formatted. To find computer or this PC in the right click menu... Choose manage, disk management and you will see a Visual representation of the hard drives. • HP Pavilion Elite HPE-540me: adding an SSD (SATA III) for HP Elite desktop computer. Is this possible?

    Dear Experts...

I want to upgrade my computer by adding an SSD as a master drive and move the original 2 TB drive to be a slave.

I found several coices of SSDS, but almost all of them are SATA III interface.

Is my office supports this interface? as it is just written that it has a SATA interface without specifying what version of SATA!

How many hard drives could this office holds? I already have two (the original 2 TB and my old drive 256 GB) and I wand to add a SSD for Windows and the progs.

Can I purchase this SSD for example? Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-series 500 GB 2.5 inch SATA III single-unit Version internal Solid State...

It is the official my desktop HP specifications page .

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

It has 2 bays free HARD disk as on its specifications:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c02781215

You can trade SSDS on your machine and make the old HDD as a secondary drive ("slave"). SATA III is backwards compatible so you can use it. Since then have been smaller SSD (normally 2.5 "), something that is similar to one of the following media:

  • Precision 7510 outputs to a single monitor through E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator

Someone had problems with accuracy 7510 output only via an exit DisplayPort on the E-Port Plus Replicator of Advanced Port?

Our Organization has recently begun to introduce units of precision 7510 to our employees, and we see that they only will be one monitor connected via DisplayPort through the Advanced E-Port Plus Replicator of Port - even if there are two monitors connected on both outputs DisplayPort on the E-Port Plus the Apr. If the monitors are connected via DVI, 7510 accuracy is able to output to both of them through the E-Port Plus the Apr.

We tried M4800, E7450 processor and controller Latitude and Latitude E7470 precision devices in these E-Port Plus with two monitors connected on both outputs DisplayPort - and they all work properly.

7510 precision units have video cards NVIDIA Quadro M1000M and the E-Port Plus APR is connected to either a pair of monitors P2417 or a pair of U2414 monitors.

Disable Switchable Graphics in the BIOS. This should solve your problem.

  • Docking station for Dell Precision 7510

I have Dell communities very recently joined after I buy the laptop Dell Precision 7510. It's a great product so far, but I want something better. I want more ports. A cradle to go with it is the obvious solution.

What is the best laptop computer Dell Precision 7510-compatible docking station? My specific needs/setup:

-2 external screens (D - sub / HDMI, or for £50 in addition, connection I get display-port), screens may be more in the future

    -internet cable high speed

    headphone/microphone

-Sockets USB for mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, external hard drives, etc.

I presume that the Advanced E-port replicator is the best/most appropriate. I just want to be sure of that, because my laptop model (7510 precision) is still very new and not all information everywhere put on compatibility. I don't want to make a costly mistake. I travel and will not be able to "return" the products I buy.

Yes. I contacted Dell sales... service and they told me that the Dell E-Port Plus II is compatible with my 7510 accuracy. After written confirmation, I advanced and bought a British supplier on Amazon for £100... but he came in a suspicious package and did not work well, and the adapter was the size of a brick (literally). I went back to Amazon... and tried my luck with Amazon Germany. You can get the original product on their part for about 140 euros, and it works perfectly. The link to the product:

    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/GP/product/B00A8ESOVA?PSC=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

(it's actually UK, now that I check it... it's that I bought and it's good)

Basically, Dell has not updated its compatibility information yet. The docking station is listed in the check-out for precision 7510, but does not say specifically that it is compatible with this model. I had similar problems elsewhere too, as I want to install LoJack on my laptop, but can not find information about the question to know if my laptop model is supported by what is called the 'persistence technology' in the BIOS (which makes it impossible to uninstall LoJack even if you change hard drives).

  • Adding an SSD on my PC without having to replace the HARD drive

    Greetings!

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 180 t desktop PC with Windows 7 64 bit installed.  I do a good amount of games on my PC and a year ago I upgraded my card to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 graphics and my diet to a Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W unit.  I also have a card mother mATX (9.6 "x 9.6") of PEGATRON.

Recently, I tried adding an SSD for my machine in order to improve the performance and organisation for some PC games that I love.  I did some research on the subject and am found a bit confused on whether or not, my motherboard will be able to handle the addition of an SSD in my machine.  I have read that I need you sure that my motherboard supports natively AHCI?  How can I check to be sure that if I buy an SSD that I'll be able to integrate it into my system?

To be clear, I want to continue to use my disk regularly to run my operating system and all the other goodies on my PC and install an SSD for store and load my music/movies/games etc.  I was watching some affordable 'mushkin' SSD that seem to do the trick.  I can give the link for more later if necessary.  Thanks for your help!

    Hello

F10 to the HP splash screen you will get in the bios.

AHCI is recommended for use with an SSD, but it is not necessary. Most modern SSDS are supported operation garbage collection which does almost the same thing to maintain the SSD.  Check with the manufacturer of your SSD.

Even if the SATA controller is set to RAID and the SSD doesn't not part of an active array, topping should always work.

  • Envy 17 t n100: help adding 2nd drive 256 GB SATA SSD (TLC) m2

    Hi all

I'm a noob advanced and need some advice and assistance, I just bought an n-100 Envy 17 t. Lack of resources, I don't have the 2nd drive 256Go M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) or pull the memory up to 16 GB max. Memory should be 1 stick of 8 Go DDR3L-1600 to max the16GB?

    Here are my specs.

    murrayotl

Put simply, assuming you want to migrate to Windows from the HARD drive of 1 TB to a 256 GB SSD, there is no simple way to do it.

The best way to do it, as I've done several times, is to use a third party called Macrium Reflect application.  It's free and will lets you clone (1) a drive - make an exact copy of a disc on another and (2) image/restore disks - a copy of a disc and then copy on a second disc.

If you can climb both drives at the same time, then (1) is the way to go.  Otherwise, to do (2), you must clone the drive to an external drive, plug the new external drive and then 'restore' from the hard drive to the new drive.

When the first doping, select the option "Backup--> Image disks selected" to clone the current drive to the new drive.

When you do the second, select "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key

The PROBLEM you have is that a partition of 1 TB is wrong simply to fit on a disk of 250 GB - if you have work to do.  You should run Disk Manager to narrow down the OS partition to be used in total less than 250 GB of disk space.

You can run the Windows disk management by following the steps below:

    (1) Control Panel to type in the search box

    2) click on Control Panel

    3) click on Administrative Tools

    4) click on disk management

Once there, you will see the list of partitions.  Select the one which contains the OS (or great) and see how you can reduce it.  On the 1 TB drive, you will have to drop below 200 GB - to be sure.

The PC will then probably need to reboot to make the changes.

Once you have restarted in Win10, install Macrium Reflect - and follow the instructions I left above.

Once the migration is completed, stop your PC, replace the SSD HARD drive and reboot.

If all goes well, you should start in Win10 without any problem.

    Good luck

  • HP Envy 17 t-n100 (NOU68AV): adding a 2nd SSD to a HP Envy 17 t

I installed a second (PNY CS1311 960 GB) SSD in my HP Envy 17 t, which is not always recognized.  After the initial installation, I could see in disk management, create a new simple volume and mount it as a record.  Everything worked well.  After the first reboot, the volume was missing and I was unable to find it in disk management.  I removed the DDI and connected using a USB/SATA cable.  The volume is good, so I figured that the internal SATA cable was bad.  I ordered a new one and installed, but the drive has not yet been recognized.  I double checked the cable and it was installed correctly.  After a few reboots suddenly the drive has been recognized again.  I was able to use the volume until the next reboot, when he disappeared again.  Any idea what might cause this behavior?

I cloned the original 1 TB 5400 RPM HARD drive on a new CS1311 of PNY 120 GB SSD.  I wanted to have the OS and applications on the 120 GB and add the PNY CS1311 960 GB SSD in the 2nd Bay for all my other files that I also have off-site backup.  Given that the laptop can see the 2nd occasionally by car, I cloned the original HDD to the 960 GB SSD.  The laptop works fine with just the 960 GB SSD in the first Bay.  This isn't the configuration I wanted, but it will work.

  • Hard drive not detected after adding 2nd mSATA SSD for HP Envy 14 1002tx

    Hello

I'm having a problem when adding an extra mSATA SSD for my HP Envy 1002tx model.

The laptop comes with a 500 GB HARD drive and I see that there is a 2.5 "mSATA SSD slot under the HARD drive, so I bought the same type of SSD and installed it but when I turn on the laptop, it does not introduce yourself. I don't know why?

I want to have an SSD for boot up the laptop and HARD drive to store animals.

If anyone knows if there is any software I have to install in order for the laptop to recognize the SSD?

I'm really sorry, I could not find this before, but the slot under the hard drive is not compatible with the mSATA disks. It's for WWAN modules! Your laptop is not like 4 I thought, but Envy 14 equipped with the first generation of Intel processors. Envy 14-Sandy Bridge 2000 series could be BIOS modded to make the miniPCI-e interface works with the mSATA disks but Envy 14-1000 series is not possible to change.

Edit: 2.5 "drive 256GB solid state drive is listed as compatible.

There are three disks 3.5 "bays.  I think that two of them will be available.  You will need to use an adapter to make the 2.5 "SSD fits correctly.  You can buy one for under $ $20.  There are several SATA connectors on the motherboard, too.

  • Adding 2nd drive SATA SSD touch 23 "Pavilion

I haven't looked inside again, but is it possible to ADD internal or external items a SATA SSD?  I see 500 gb for $180!

    Hello

No, due to its space it's why we call it all-in-One. If you want an external SSD, you can buy a USB 3.0 enclosure and put the SSD inside. It will just act like an external HARD drive but more fast.

    Kind regards.

  • Adding an SSD on the 2nd Bay in a HP Envy 17-j021nr

    Hello world

I know there are already a few questions similar to this one, but I just wanted to ask to be completely safe.

From what I understand, I'm suppose to use the spare part kit 605415-001, but after watching carefully the kit I don't think it comes with the appropriate cable.

My current HARD drive is connected via an AWM 20624 80 60V tablecloth, just like this picture:

On the circuit where the cable is connected, there are two marked hubs HDD1 and HDD2, the former is used by the current HARD drive.

Cable 605415-001 kit spare parts looks nothing like the cable that uses the current HARD drive.

Do I need a different Kit for the HP Envy 17-j021nr? Or I do something wrong?

Thank you all for your time!

    Christopher

First of all, let me say very nice post with photos and everything. Very clear question. I am also a model of Envy 17-j0xx with a second empty Bay. I did an image search on google with the part number of the kit that you have published and there indeed a cable that comes out of the SATA adapter and goes to the motherboard which is different from a cable layer right like in your photo, but if you look at the end of this I think that the trick is inserted into HDD2 little marked zif connector. I intend actually get the second kit car here:
