  • Adding 2nd hard drive for Dell E310

    Hello

I recently made some updates to my E310 and, until I got to the point where I was adding the second hard drive, everything went well.

First of all, nobody in my local computer store knew of the blue Paw was to add 2nd hard drive; They suggested screw. This isn't the first hard drive I have installed, even if it is the first in my Dell. After my third attempt of Googling, I struck gold - a post in the forum explaining that support is needed and a telephone number to order. I am so grateful for this response.

I read in similar positions and before putting the drive in I want to understand what is needed after the physical installation. This player will not hold the OS (XP Media), but held the whole image, music, and various files. Still must the player be partitioned and formatted using disk management I read in another post? I understand that I must go into the Bios to activate the second hard drive, so to speak. Is this similar to enter the CMOS? Would you be able to provide clear instructions?

Is there anything else I should do to get the new HDD to be operational?

Thank you for your time and thanks to the person who posted this phone number.

  • DV7-6c95dx: ADDING 2nd HARD DRIVE WE DV7

ADDING 2ND HARD DRIVE - IT DOES NOT APPEAR UNDER MY COMPUTER - I DON'T KNOW IF SA FORMATTING OR NOT - CAN GET SOME DIRECTIONS - THANK YOU

How did you add it? Where's the hardware mounting hard disk? In any State of cause, assuming that you have installed a hard drive was bought, it would be empty and needs be initialized (mounted) and formatted. To find computer or this PC in the right click menu... Choose manage, disk management and you will see a Visual representation of the hard drives. It can automatically prompts you to initialize the disk. Once do you that and format it in ntfs and assign a drive letter and the name of the volume, it will appear in the computer as a lettered drive.

  • Adding a hard drive for my Dimension 4300.

My Dimension 4300 (XP) currently has a 40GB 3.5 "Form Factor..., 1N, 7.2 K hard drive WD-XL40 (Reference Dell number 2 K 223).  I would like to add another hard drive.  What is recommended? IDE or SATA?  I saw that an IDE hard drive is recommended, but I can't seem to find a.  If I get a SATA controller card and a SATA hard drive, that would be all I need?  What is the memory capacity of HDD I might add?  Any suggestions?

  • HP ENVY Phoenix 810-135qe CTO Desktop PC adding 2nd hard drive

I have added a second hard drive to my system (3 TB Seagate) that is the same (brand / model) on the main drive.  Device Manager sees the drive, but Win 7 Pro does not see the drive.

    Thank you

    Hello

Look in to the new hard drive disk management.  To use the full capacity of the drive, you'll need to be initialized and he the GPT format.  Don't forget to assign a drive letter and a volume name.  In addition, make sure that the drive appears as online and not in offline mode.

  • adding additional hard drive

I've added some Rams, dvd player and hard drive on my desktop pc HP Pavilion P7-1235.

All have been recognized "Rams, dvd and HDD player" in office management.

My problem is that I can't access the new disc hard second "seagate barracuda 1 TB" because it does not show on my computer page.

The new dvd player is there but not the hard drive.

Q What should I do to access this new second hard drive.

Access the "computer management / Disk Management Console" and initialize the disk. See http://www.brighthub.com/computing/hardware/articles/22069.aspx for more information, if necessary.

I don't know how to access BIOS. Instruction to strike F2 book States, but that takes you to the SETTINGS and there is here no element that refers to BIOS.

The 'settings' you see is the BIOS settings. This is where you

  • Ran memory hard drive, added a hard drive and hopeing I can combine somehow.

I have added a second hard drive with XP on it. I have the second disk set to CSEL. I have a gateway pc. It appears in Device Manager. I was hopeing to combine them, a bit like you can do with vista. I put in wrong place

If the primary transmission is set to Cable Select, you have set the jumperr on the extra disc correctly.

If the primary transmission is set to master, you must assign additional drive SLAVE jumpers

Assuming that both show in BIOS, Device Manager and Windows Explorer, you cannot combine the two discs.

What you can do is freshly format additional drive and then move all files data yourr on him... Mike Hall MVP - Windows Desktop Experience http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/

  • Driver for Dimension E310 for Windows 8.1

    Hi all

I hope someone here can help me because I have exhausted all the options I can think. Any way to get the car to the Dell Dimension E310 video work with Windows 8.1? I know that Dell does not have a driver, but it is there any unofficial driver or work around out there who will get my video to work?

    Thank you.

Any way to get the car to the Dell Dimension E310 video work with Windows 8.1?

Intel is responsible to support the onboard video, not Dell; due to the severe limitations in this material, it is not supported on Vista and later versions of Windows.

You can update modern video through either a combination of the Startech adapter and a modern PCIe - x 16 video card (for example, based on the famous GPU 6450) or use is PCI or PCIe - x 1 video card.

  • Failure of hard drive in Dimension 8250, the maximum size and the type of replacement tips please

Dimension 8250 (Feb 2003), Windows XP Home SP2, 60 GB HDD, 512 MB of RAM, BIOS A01 - entirely standard

My hardrive suffers from weird deaf noise for a few months, but last week, it was a lot worse. Sometimes it starts up and is ok, othertimes it takes 1 hour to start and everything produces the deaf noise and is so slow, that it's unusable and other times simply clunks and not even start.

    Error messages received:

    (a) "drive Dell, monitoring system has detected that drive 0 on the primary Eide controller is out of normal, backup specifications and replace the HARD drive.

    (b) "error was detetcted on the HARD disk during the paging operation" (in the event viewer)

    (c) "driver detetcted a controller the HARD disk error" (in the event viewer)

    (d) when I run the Dell IDE Drive Diagnostics (F12), it says FAILED return Code 6

    Issues related to the:

    (1) am I correct that the drive needs replacement?

    (2) I want to just keep it very simple and buy a drive and adapt it, do not worry about BIOS or other upgrades. What I do pay attention to the size car that I buy, is there a maximum size that I can have with BIOS A01? Maybe thought to 120 GB? I just want to be able to adapt, without having to play around with BIOS upgrades so simply the easiest option, which is to buy, set up and reinstall the software. So, is there any limitation integrated with BIOS A01? The recovery CD is XP SP 1

    (3) am I correct that the PC supports up to 100 ATA if you need to make sure that I buy ATA 100 no ATA 133?

    (4) original drive is Hitachi, Seagate Barracuda would be better?

    (5) think active drive a 2 MB cache, a cache 8 MB drive would work ok without me having to pay anything and if yes is it useful on the 2 MB cache?

    Thanks for your time.

  • Upgrade the hard drive in dimension 4700

I want to add a larger hard drive, 500 GB + in my Dimension 4700. Currently, I have a 80 GB drive, which is the largest size, I can add and what type, 1.5 gb/s or 3.0 gb/s, it takes, and if I install a large drive I see a loss of performance? My OS is Windows XP sp2, I have 2.0 GB of memory also.

  • Phoenix 860-170VR: adding additonal hard drive

I would add additonal hard drive to my PC and I see there are locations for additional disks, but looks like I need rails to mount the disk, so it can slide into the slot. HP sells these rails and if yes, someone has a link or a reference number?

    Thank you

The real screw is as follows.

Cylindrical head type, thread 6 x 32, with a length of 1/4 ". This head is made to allow the reader to slip into the slots.  The screw head acts as a locking mechanism.  Drag with the circuit board to the TOP.
