  • [SRP527w] Recovery and VPN failover

    Hello

Our company is using DSL routers to connect remote sites to our headquarters.
We buid VPN through ADSL, between a Zyxel USG 200 Firewall/VPN device and remote routers.

We decided to add a 3G backup connection, and we chose to test the SRP527w for this purpose.
Thanks to Andrew Hickman, who answered my questions, we build successfully an IPSEC VPN via the 3 G connection, and it works really well.

There is a problem with the failover/recovery of the VPN tunnel:

    1)
    We start the router
The SRP527w set up ADSL and build the VPN.
Fails to ADSL (we remove the power cord)
3 G starts very fast, and the WAN connection is OK (our vpn device if the internet ping)

But the VPN tunnel never comes back!

If I manually, click on 'Connect' menu VPN, it connect any!
If I look at the newspaper on my VPN device, I don't see any attempt to build the VPN.
If I re - connect ADSL, VPN connects again ADSL!

    2)
WITH EXACTLY THE SAME SETUP AND THE SAME CONFIGURATION OF VPN ON BOTH SIDES:
We start the router with ADSL cable disconnected.
The SRP527w set up the 3G and build the VPN!
We re - connect the ADSL and ADSL connects with success (our vpn Internet device ping)

But the VPN tunnel never comes back!

If I manually, click on 'Connect' menu VPN, it connect any!
If I look at the newspaper on my VPN device, I don't see any attempt to build the VPN.
If I unplug the ADSL, the VPN will connect again through 3 G!

    My configuration:

Failover and restore enabled, with delay set to 60 sec.
ADSL first, then 3 g 1 PVC enabled on ADSL.
1 IPSEC policy and 1 IKE policy, two correspondents with 1 tunnel on my VPN device (configured in "Dynamic Peer" because there is no static IP address on the 3G connection).

    Version ID: V01
    Hardware version: 4.0.0
    Version of the boot: 1.1.17
    Firmware version: 1.01.19

It's as if once the VPN is configured on the first WAN interface, it cannot be setup on the second if the first fails. Andrew, are you familiar with this issue? I'm doing it wrong somewhere?

Thank you very much for your answer.

    Hello

Thanks for the comments - it is a known issue.  We will work on a possible fix as it is possible.

  • Microsoft VPN client through 857 router ADSL

    Hello

I've set up an adsl router 857 with CP Express (web interface) with a standard firewall and NAT configuration.

router seems to work very well apart from connections outbound pptp.

I can't use the MS VPN client to connect to our PPTP server in a remote location. I don't try to use VPN on the router 857, allow just to pass through of my laptop computer behind the router to an external vpn server.

Instantly, the client goes to "Check Userbane and password" then crashes on this during a minute or two before failing.

    Any suggestions would be apprecated.

  • SRP547W VPN site to site with L2TP in ADSL

    Hello world

I am installing a new SRP547W for a customer and will have trouble to configure a site to site vpn. They use the ADSL WAN1 interface for their internet connection. When I add an interface under him, I am unable to see the 'Connection Type' fall as I can see on a void WAN2 ethernet interface. I followed the instructions on page 29 provided here:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/routers/srp520_series/srp521w/administration/srp500_admin.PDF

All good suggestions on how I can get a site vpn to set up on the router using PPTP or L2TP via the ADSL interface would be very useful.

    Thank you

    Benn

    Hi Ben,

Unfortunately, we currently only allow PPTP/L2TP sessions is configured for major WAN - i.e. not ADSL or Ethernet interfaces interfaces.

  • MTU on line ADSL via VPN

Hi, I use PIX501s with os6.3 (3). They are connected to the internet via ADSL (pppoe). Firewalls are deployed in the Center and network spoke in the Center which is a VPN 7140 router. There are among the sites of links from site to site VPN. There are all Windows domain controllers that need to replicate with the central domain controller in local LANs. It seems that all the rays can ping the host server and vica versa but replication and the remote desktop connection does not work. The access provider ADSL told us to use 1454bytes as MTU on the external interfaces. If I put all the MTU on the PIX and the Central 7140 to 1100 (which should be small enough for ADSL) it does not help. But if I set the MTU size on the central domain controller Windows Server (whith that must replicate all servers spoke and who must be reached via desktop remotely), everything works fine, but this is not a nice.

How can I know the PIX or the VPN router to connect the correct MTU settings for Windows servers? Or how can I adjust the MTU on the CISCO devices that work?

    The configs are attached

What OS and what level of service pack is currently running on your domain controllers?

If it is win 2000 Service Pack 2 from this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301337

indicates that the server will ignore requests to lower the mtu when the request comes from a server (or gateway) on the same subnet as the host windows. SP3 resolves this problem.

I'll do some more research on the Microsoft site and see what I come up with. It seems that your problem might be this or something similar. However, the dc hub seems to be controlling the mtu size, so even if a remote client establishes a replication, the hub dc want to use its mtu and not that of the client, which should be lower as the pix should see the negotiation of mss of tcp and lower according to the interface mtu.

    I'll post what I find.

  • Problem with the Site to Site IPSec VPN using ADSL and PPPoE

I have an IPSec site to Site VPN between a 2805 and an 1841. Both have fixed IP, but the end of 1841 uses a PPPoE and ADSL connection. The MTU that is displayed on the Dialer0 interface is 1454.

I can get the packets through the Tunnel without problem (standard pings), but don't spend larger packages.

    Any suggestions?

You can apply on both. Here's a URL that explain the problem of MTU and option in detail.

  • VPN site to Site. (ADSL)

    Dears;

I have 2800, connected to the Internet via ADSL.

I am setting up the VPN Tunnel (site-to-site) in vain.

I don't know if the problem is on ADSL.

    Hello

Interestingly, I can see the tunnel upward and the traffic passing in the new show exits, I don't know why it does not work for you.

    Try this on router (10.40.x.x)

    ping source 172.18.1.254 10.40.0.1

    This ping works?

What ip address you are trying to ping through the tunnel and what ip address?

  • VPN site-to-site with pppoe ADSL connection

    Dear

I would like to know - is it possible to connect two 5505 ASA in VPN site-to-site with 1 site using the pppoe ADSL connection?

    A (static IP) site

    Site B (ADSL pppoe, DHCP)

    Site has < site="" to="" site="" vpn=""> > Site B

    Best regards

    Alan.

Configuration of site B should be the same as all the other side than peers with static end.

The different configuration would be on Site A as he will accept a VPN to a dynamic counterpart.

Unfortunately, I have no configuration example to show you on ASDM.

  • l2l more unstable fall vpn connection ADSL line

Hello. I have a remote site connection vpn l2l is declining daily (remote site uses pix 501 (6.3), head office use asa 5510 (v7).) The only way I found to restore the connection is to restart the 501. The ISP have diagnosed a faulty line that keeps fall occasionally, but is it not the vpn can automatically reconnect if the line falls for a significant amount of time, which I think is the problem earlier? Thank you.

You have KeepAlive enabled for this tunnel on both ends?

  • Impossible to establish a VPN between AG241 and WAG54GP2 tunnel

    Hello

This is my first post on this forum and I send my best regards to everyone!

I signed up because I have a problem with establishing a VPN tunnel between an AG241 modem/router and a modem/router WAG54GP2 with wireless and VoIP.

The scenario is simple: both ends have dynamic IP, so I set up an account with dyndns.org for both routers.

    WAG54GP2 has 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0 AG241 has 192.168.3.254/255.255.255.0 IP and IP.

In both routers, I turned block anonymous internet requests, so I can ping both routers.

This is the configuration of WAG54GP2:

    Intercommunication PPPoE: activate

  • Wireless and VPN RV042 router WRT54G

Respected member, please help if you can! I have an ADSL with dynamic connected with the wrt54g router, I recently bought RV042 and want to connect the wire coming from wireless with ports. so, basically, I want to use RV042VPN for help after the router, is there a way I can use vpn behind with port using RV042 router wireless

I can't be able to connect to the vpn as he seeks is not an ip or WAN/LAN.

It may be possible if you're lucky. But I highly recommend not to connect the RV042 after the WRT. A VPN server must always have a public IP address. Running a VPN server behind a router NAT (such as WRT) makes it extremely difficult and often it won't work at all. Connect the RV042 directly to your modem, configure it to your internet connection. In this way the RV042 has the public IP and VPN should become much easier. Then implement the WRT as simple access point in your network by changing the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2, disable the DHCP server, and connect a LAN port of the WRT on a LAN on the RV042 port.
