Advice on migration / upgrade

I have Windows 2000 with Fusion 2.0 on my mac. (no training camp).

You want to upgrade to fusion 3 to be able to run windows 7.

This could end being quite complex due to the fact that windows 2000

should be deleted. (How do I do that?)

Should I switch to fusion 3 first, (or fresh install merge) then try to

Remove windows 2000? (don't know how to do this).

I am told that I could just do the upgrade from windows 2000 to Windows 7, but that

Windows 7 will ask you the original Windows 2000 disk. (I'm good with it), but I don't know if

Fusion will work with it. Maybe, I have to buy windows 7 full and avoid the prospect of what does not?

You have any advice for me?

Fusion 3 uses a different serial number model then Fusion 2 done and it is not serious from the point of view installation from the .dmg you download if a fully functional full release.  When you go to buy Fusion 3, an upgrade you'll need for your serial number of Fusion 2 to get the discount. (If the upgrade discount is not always available) However to get a free serial number for 30 day trial and test drive before you buy!

I don't think Oracle 7 provides features similar to the rolling online updates that you can find in the newer versions of Oracle.

    You have only 2 options:
    1. the upgrade of the same database on the same machine
    2. create a new 8i database and use export/import.

The more data you have, the more likely option 1 is faster (assuming you are using the same configuration of operating system and hardware)
because the import tends to be slower with more data. However, if the new database is hosted on a machine much faster database active, option 2 may be faster.

What is the size of the database?
What is the course material machine hosting the Oracle 7 database?
What is the material of the machine that hosts the Oracle 8i database?

  • Need of advice, the GPU upgrade and power

Since this is my first post here I would start by saying hello to everyone. I recently bought an HP Elite M9400t Core 2 Duo Quad 2.5 GHz. It came with 4 GB of ram and an its Soundblaster wireless Xtreme pci-e card but unfortunately only came with an Nvidia 9300 GE, which is more or less a rebadged Nvidia 8400. I would like to know what are my options for the upgrade. I would like to upgrade a 680 to 700 watt power supply food to accommodate the new GPU and I've had my eye on the Geforce GTX 260, but the thing is 10.5 inches long. I measured and it would be a tight fit, but the PSU cables would be in the way, unless I went the way of a modular power supply. HP came with a 350 watt PSU. Tell me a 350 Watt power supply would be sufficient to run say a Nvidia 9600 gt or say a solution simple 9800 gt slot. They all have two minimum system requirements of 400 watts... But.  And. will be a more recent judgment out of the PSU shelves fit in my case? And there at - it no real advantage to using the modular power supply she calls space-saving? Thank you for your help in advance.

This 9600 GSO is easily from 550 to 700 MHz overclock with ATI tool or equivalent, to put it in with the 9800 GTX.

The power supply and the video card must be inserted.

Try this link is your PC ready for BF3?

Most PCs are not ready for BF3 and there is usually a faster video card and a bigger power supply.

  • Advice on the upgrade to ESXI 4.1.0 to 6

I have ESXI 4.1.0 260247 that worked for about 5 years now as a champion.  My hard drives are becoming old and I need to upgrade my storage (currently raid 2 x 1 TB 1, need 2 TB of usable space) so I am looking to update my ESXI at the same time.  I'm a show making, software development, my needs are quite simple.  I have machines virtual linux for Jenkins, LAMP, nginx, svn, mysql and I have Windows VMs for Jenkins, MSSQL, versions of office to install testing.  The most great thing miss me with ESXI 4 is I would go an automatic weekly backups of my VM to my QNAP NAS.

Essentials would be worth the money? I'm Canadian, so please consider I paid 32% more after the exchange of currencies.

I'm not an experienced administrator, ESXI 4 was free for me problem since day 1.  If I replace all readers at the same time, would be a good upgrade path:

1 export all as OVF of ESXI4 VMS

2 replace the discs in Server

    3. installation of 6

4 import OVF VM in ESXI 6

Thanks in advance for the entry.

I would backup all virtual machines to external storage, possible using https://www.veeam.com/virtual-machine-backup-solution-free.html

Update as needed. You will not be able to skip from 4.1 to 6.0. so a reinstall would be my preferred option.

Restore VMs return. Note that if you use free ESXi then you probably need to restore files on networked storage and copy them back to the store to host data because free ESXI does not include an API for veeam to restore. https://forums.Veeam.com/VMware-vSphere-F24/question-about-free-ESXi-5-and-restore-job-failed-error-t13345.html

Essentials is really cheap for what you get. You will be able to use the above correctly, because you then will licenses for the API. You probably want 2-3 hosts so that the benefits of vCenter you get with the license are worth. It is not really worth it for a single host unless you need these API etc.

  • vSphere 4.0 vSphere 5.0 migration/upgrade

    Hi all

We look at upgrading our vSphere 4.0 (with ESX) infrastructure to vSphere with ESXi 5.0 and would like to know the best way forward.

Current system (let's call it OLDSYS):

vSphere 4.0 on Windows 2003 32-bit with a remote SQL Server database

New system (let's call it NEWSYS):

vSphere 5.0 on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit with a remote control (even?) SQL server database

    I intend to:

    -close OLDSYS

    -SQL backup

    -power up NEWSYS

-Install vSphere 5.0 on the NEWSYS then point it to the current SQL remote database

-Upgrade all hosts and virtual machines once all workers

NEWSYS needs to have the same name of host/IP as OLDSYS had?

Will NEWSYS pointing to the current database, and then update during installation?

Doing it this way will keep all configurations of infrastructure? Will it even reconnect the hosts in this scenario?

Is there a better way, or it won't work?

    Thanks for any help...

Welcome to the community - the best place to start is with VMware Upgrade Guide - http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-50-upgrade-guide.pdf - this will have all the information you need to succeed.

  • Migration/upgrade to ESXi 4.1

We are running ESX 4.1 on 3 hosts.  We organize an IBM N SAN with NFS series on 3 data stores.  I need to upgrade and have a few questions before I get started.  The intention going ESXi but was curious if the licenseing is the same.  Also, i will need to install a new installation or can it be improved?  Are there other requirements for other than 64-bit vCenter spcific?  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

    Perry

Yes, the licensing is the same for the classic ESX and ESXi.  However, there is no option to upgrade the classic for ESXi, you need to rebuild. Since you already have ESX 4.1, you use vCenter 4.1.  There is nothing you need to do to prepare for a transition of ESX to ESXi vCenter level.

  • advice on the upgrade required

    Hi all
We are now on windows server 2003 and 10.2.0.1.0 oracle
We intend to upgrade to 11g r2
What are the things I need to know?
I also think the upgrade guide
the document says that we must be to 9.2.0.8 database, Oracle 10.1.0.5 and 10.2.0.2 Database Oracle database b.11.11
given that mine is not one of those that would be the best approach
size of DB that I need to upgrade is quite small
    Thanks in advance

Yes - see the installation Guide for the pl - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24281/toc.htm#BGBEEBAD

As mentioned, you have two options.

    1. apply the 10.2.0.2 patch, then use DBUA upgrade to 11.2.0.3
    2. the export of 10.2.0.1, create a new 11.2.0.3 empty database, import in 11.2.0.3

These two steps require that you install 11.2.0.3 in a separate and new ORACLE_HOME before performing these steps.

Note pl 11.2.0.3 is available on My Oracle Support (https://support.oracle.com) whose access requires a paid with Oracle support contract

  • Should provide advice on the upgrade of the processor.

I have a lenovo N500 series. The sticker, it states that it is an intel celeron dual-core, but in reality this is not a dual core. Im just curious to know if I could have upgraded to a dual core. Is it safe? It can really be upgraded to a dual core?

Download cpu - z, to see which chipset intel you have, whether it is 945 (socket M) or 965 chipset (socket P).

But in both cases you can improve to the Core 2 duo processors. The Core 2 duo is a bit limited for the socket M, with the T5xxx format, T7xxx, T2xxx are just what you're going to get.

  • I need advice for an upgrade of the CPU... Please and thank you!

Hi, I own a 076804U, with a T2060 lenovo3000 n100. I think the upgrade to windows 7 and 64-bit move. Can someone tell me what CPU I could jump up to which will work in this system? I know very little about laptops but I build my own desktop computers. It is to travel and I use it a lot, so buying a new laptop is not really what I want to do. But I want that all my systems to run the same operating system. Thanks for your help.

I have the same model and just put in a T5600 who

I bought on eBay. Works fine and windows 7

is a pleasure to use compared to vista.

The only driver I had to install was for the card reader.

  • Question about MSD + upgrade and migration applications

    Hi all

    I am running:

    TMS 13.2

    TMSPE 1.0

The two co reside on a Windows 2003 server, pointint in an external box of SQL.

We also organize TCX 2.3 on our Exchange.

Now that our server guys have * finally * installed the service pack required on the Exchange, we are ready to migrate to TMSXE but also to upgrade the TMS and TMSPE.

So we want ot go to:

    TMS 14.2.1

    TMSPE 1.1

    TMSXE 3.1

In addition to migrate a Windows server 2008R2 TMS + TMSPE.

I know the different individual guides to upgrade as well as the dependencies between TMS and TMSPE/TMSXE versions.  I'm hoping to do the upgrade and migration all in one and am hoping to get some tips on the best order to do everything.

My first question - decomission the 13.2/TMSPE server 1.1 TMS, that I can install TMS 14.2.1 and TMSPE 1.1 on the Windows Server 2008, they point to the relevant databases and allow upgrading from there? Or do I need install the new versions TMS/TMSPE on the old server, first of all, upgrade the databases and then migrate?

Second question - before all this, I run the TMSXE migration tool to extract the data 2.3 TCX, uninstall TCX of Exchange, TMS upgrades and then install TMSXE 3.0/3.1 at the end?

As all this is running on the virtual machine I'll instant just in case.  Advice on the issues listed above, or general advice about these upgrades would be appreciated

Hi Nick, IMHO, I suggest you first migrate your 2.3 TCX to TMSXE 3.0.2 by this TMSXE 3.0 installation guide, and then pass the TMS and PE later.

Yes, VM snapshot backup option before any upgrade is fine.
