  You cannot use a USB on Mac 2011 Installer. Please burn the ISO on a physical DVD Windows (a DVD - R Carbon SL on the rate of burning slower is better) and use it to install Windows. The file Info.plist changes only allowing the creation of USB, but does not fully support a USB Installation.

Although I have read and followed the instructions to more than a dozen son / pages online, * nothing * works, because my system does not simply offer the options described. To cut a very long story short, I used disk utility to erase the drive, but never did have the option of "password" on the screen "next" mentioned repeatedly - there is no next screen, just a local saying 'Done '. Then I discovered several discussions mentioning the need to partition the USB key to encrypt - that seems weird to me, but I guess I'm out of my depth. Anyway, "Partition" is always grayed out. I * so * found son saying that, so the partition, I first need to choose "GUID" partition of the table - but absolutely nowhere in the process are only some sort of partition of an option. At no time do I get nothing except a NAME box, a box of FORMAT and DELETE / CANCEL.

  Oh - on another (official, Apple) help screen, he said in El Capitan, you could simply Ctrl-click on the USB in the Finder. (Interestingly, no other screen I saw didn't mention this.)   You can only encrypt a drive formatted for Mac.  If this isn't the case, you will need to format will erase the drive.

  In disk utility, select the drive and delete it. As the format, select Mac OS extended (journaled). That will make a table partition GUID.

  I did a clean install on my Portege R100-11Z of windows 7 and later a new clean install of Windows XP Prof SP3.

  In both configurations, I have no sound from the headphone/microphone jacks. (yes I check all the options: mute / his wheele next / new drivers / Toshiba eliminate program "mute" e.t.)
  All the configuration looks OK. I don't see anny WARNING/message in the configuration settings.

  One of them will solve your problem of camera:

  (1) If your Mac restart does not solve the problem,

  (2) use http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 from Apple.

  (BTW - troubleshooting section called an "iSight" camera.  However, after that article was published, Apple has changed the name of the built-in camera on the recent "iSight" Macs "FaceTime", then "FaceTime HD."  Whatever the name of your built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  Be sure to test several Apple app (photo booth, FaceTime, iMovie, QuickTime Player, etc.) in more than one user account.  Do NOT use the 'Guest' for this test account.  If you don't have more than one user account for testing, create one now.  If you need help, how is explained in http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201754.

  A 'Standard' user account is all you need for the tests.

  (3) If your camera will work correctly even with Apple applications, use OS X Recovery to completely reinstall your Mac OS since system recovery stored on your startup disk.  Don't bother test Skype or other 3rd party apps until you have your camera works with applications Apple.

  (4) If none of the suggestions above resolve your issue, contact Apple or one of the Apple-Authorized Service Provider to have your Mac professionally repaired. Don't forget to back up your Mac and Deauthorize iTunes before the call for tenders for the service.

  Click about this Mac, then put software up-to-date.

  Click on the Store menu and select reload the Page, make sure all available installl HP or Apple updates once checking completed pilot.

  Then go to System Preferences > printers & Scanner, click on the button "+" and select the printer, be sure to select the printer model in the menu drop-down use.

  According to the information that you have given, it seems that your system is looking for your wireless printer not connected USB printer.

  I used createinstallmedia to make a boot USB el capitan drive. I'm going to replace the hard drive from one computer to another, and he would use the USB boot disk to install el capitan on the new disc. The command worked very well, and I can open Setup very well. When I take Option and reboot I see the installer from USB option, but then about 3/4 of the way through the progress bar I just get a grey screen with a circle and a line through it (such as no smoking sign).

  My MBP end 2011 is up-to-date, and I downloaded a new copy of the installer from el capitan today for this. I have also ensured that reformat USB OS x scope and GUID key.

  I was under the impression that I would be able to use the USB to boot (or almost) no matter which mac and run disk utility, or the installer. I'd love to help if anyone has any info on why it does not work.

  I would try to use another USB drive, they can sometimes fail to work for the boot also try other USB ports & remove all non-essential devices.

• Mid 2007 iMac - problem with install Clean El Capitan

  I have a (very) old mid 2007 iMac that I tried to do a clean install of El Capitan to a USB flash drive.

  I used the following instructions to create a bootable USB El Capitan:

  The USB boot media creation went through without any problems. However, when I try to start the iMac from the drive flash, iMac stays on the screen of the Apple logo for a few minutes and then restarts.

  The iMac was initially Mavericks recovery utility is restarted after I erased the hard drive. To avoid any possible problems with the installer of El Capitan, I used an older DVD of Snow Leopard to remove the Mavericks recovery from disk. The drive is now without an operating system or recovery utilities.

  I suspect a problem with the hardware with the hard drive or flash drive that I use. The hard drive has been erased with a single pass of zeros using disk utility. The flash drive, I regularly use as disk bootable for PC.

  My only other option at this point is to install Snow Leopard, install upgrade to El Capitan, and then use the recovery of El Capitan to do a cleaning.

  I was wondering if anyone else encountered this problem and has a solution.

  Just to update.

  I decided to take the long road with this to install El Capitan on this iMac.

  Here are the steps I took to install OS x:

  • Wipe all existing partitions on the hard disk, including my former Mavericks recovery partition.
  • Installed Snow Leopard from the installation DVD. Updated Snow Leopard 10.6.8
  • A ran Installer El Capitan
  • Started in the El Capitan recovery utility. I have reset (formatted) the reader.
  • Re-installed El Capitan.

  I could not only solve problems with my key USB install media. It wasn't a complete disaster since I already had existing media that I could use for my iMac back on its feet. My mistake was wipe my existing facility for the Mavericks before check my USB as bootable. Installation took much longer than I anticipated for this reason.

  So, in conclusion, do a clean install on this model iMac is possible, but I highly recommend checking any bootable media before you delete your existing installation of Mac OS. The best route (and easier) is upgrading the OS.
