After restoring to factory settings, my backup files have been deleted

Hello!

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L500. Last night I restored it to factory settings. After 20 min. a window poped up and started to install the toshiba software. I moved the window next door and I began to move my backup files to my external hard drive on the desktop. In the morning, I saw that the office was looking for different and a lot of software have been installed like norton, reader dvd etc and my backup folder is not on the desktop. and I check my external drive. There were only 11 GB of data on my backup folder.

But my backup files were 100 GB now. I see that my C drive is now 20 GB.
What do you think of thing happened to my backups?
Please can you help me?

I'm desperate.

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. I want to say I did similar things, so many times and I ve never lose data. I don't know what you did exactly.
Have you moved or simply copied data drive external HARD drive HARD laptop s?

Restoring to factory settings formats the disc, and which erases
everything what he. You probably get something new, but you can
try to do a search on the web for a recovery program that unformats the reader
    like here: http://www.easeus.com/resource/unformat.htm

If you unformat the drive successfully and can recover lost files
back, the first thing you should do copy on an external
(CD, DVD, USB sticks, external hard drives, etc.).
    Two other points/questions:

    1. why restore you to the factory settings? This is usually the worst
approach to solve a problem, there's a lot of extra long hard
work and often leads to problems of its own (as it did here).

    2. I assume you have no backup on external media from your
photos of important files etc. In this case. you played with
the fire. You can read this article on the backup that I wrote:

My windows media player mp3 music files have been deleted by mistake, they are also missing from the 'My music' file too.  I got some of them to the "basket", but there are some still missing were not in the bin.

  • Create product recovery media does not work after restoring to factory settings

Updated my T500 from 160 to 320 GB.

First of all, ran the RnR restore to factory settings with the product recovery media that I made earlier. And then restored my C: volume from my Windows Home Server backup.

Everything seems as usual except my service partition is now f: instead of S: and my Lenovo partition is H: instead of q:-I tested it I can get into the RnR with F11 service partition.

But when I try to create new recovery media product the ICT box is grayed out on the first prompt so I can't continue. Put back the partition of Lenovo on q: in disk management has not changed anything, he would let me change the letter of the service partition.

It's no big deal - I still have my original disks - but it would be good to know what I could improve for the next time I have to do a restore.

Think that I thought about it - when I restored my C volume I also restored a version of RnR who 'knows' I already burned disks. So next time if I want to burn new disks, I need to do on the version of the system factory setting before you restore the volume C:.

  • blue screen on envy 14 beats edition after restoring to factory settings

    Hello

My HP Envy beats edition is 2 years old and recently had a problem starting and we have restored to factory settings since it was the only option they don't have no recovery points on the system.  It freezes for a split second, and then a blue screen at random intervals. When this happens, he mentions something about a process of dumping of physical memory, and then restart windows.

I am able to go into windows and use normal programs, but suddenly the blue screen appears and it stops again. Especially when I use the mouse.  I don't know what the problem is. Help, please.

Thanks for the reply! Now that I have this information, I would like you to try the procedure described in this document to Microsoft for the resolution in Windows 7 stop errors (blue screen)

Please try all the steps, including the reinstallation of the operating system if you unable to solve the problem. If nothing works, the computer must be repaired since there is most likely a hardware problem. You can call the HP support to get it addressed.

You can use this Web site for information about how to contact HP properly, based on your region: Contact HP worldwide

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks again and have a great day!

  • I accidentally deleted files from a flash drive without looking at what they were; is there a way to view a journal detailing which files have been deleted?

I accidentally deleted files from a flash drive without looking at what they were; is there a way to view a history of the measures taken with regard to the changes to the file?  Already I have saved new files on my flash drive so I do not expect to recover the lost files, I just want to know which have been deleted.

    Hello

You can use File Undelete tools to see which files are recoverable without actually restoring courses.

  • My maintenance utility tells me that my prefetch folder files have been deleted.

    Original title: prefetch files

My maintenance utility tells me that files in my prefetch folder have been deleted... what it means and I can get them back or do I need to?  Never heard of these before

These things are scams if you paid for it. They do nothing good for you. I recommend that you stop using it because it does not speed up your computer. In particular the registry functions.

Don't worry about the prefetch files. They will reform.

The Prefetch files are there to make your programs start faster. In fact, I doubt that you can measure the amount of time with a stopwatch.

  • HP Envy k201na: my HP laptop does not start after restoration of factory settings removes the boot files

I wanted to restore my computer laptop back to factory settings. So I went into settings and navigated to the update and recovery, recovery and then clicked the option restore factory settings. I had several partitions then asked me if I wanted to delete all of my drive or to remove all the windows disk was installed on. I clicked on the remove all option. Everything was erased from my laptop, I think that the boot partition has been altered to. Now when I start my laptop 0xc00000000f error code occurs and he said: 'you will need to use recovery tools. • Problem of T61 update after restoring to factory settings

    Hi all

I restored my system to factory settings after series of problems with the deletion of old backup files in the hard drive. Then I installed Windows updates (Service Pack 3 and other such suggested by Microsoft). After I finished with the updates of Windows, I tried to update my system using Thinkvantage System Update. That's where I got the error message even before contacting the package index server. The message read that error trying to get user information. I can't go any further.

All you have no idea why this is happening?

    Thank you.

Uninstall and reinstall the software update system.

  • 23_d160qd: ENVY23 loss of Touch Screen after restoring to factory settings

I was forced to restore the system to factory settings after more than 2 hours with HP TECH. He left with the problem of origin of the loss of the keyboard and the mouse. He cleaned my system to the point wheer it wouldn't start. Touch screen worked before the restoration. He also had the problem of mouse and keyboard solved.  I can't find any setting that allows you to turn the touch screen.

Problem solved. After the restart attempt did not work tried l a stop then power up and problem was gone and touchscreen has been authorized.

My wife has an iPad.  I stick with my iMac and had nothing to do with the implementation of its iPad.  She had a problem recently that would require an update of iTunes.  When the update has downloaded a message appeared saying "your iPad can't be updated; you need to restore it to factory settings. "We did the restoration and has a splash ACTIVATE IPAD screen.  He asks as the inside diameter and the password used to configure iCloud... which my wife do not remember.  He also says that my i.d. • OS installs not after restoring to factory settings

I've restored my HP DV5 laptop to factory settings. Once the restoration is complete, the computer restarts, but whenever it starts up and begins to install windows, a window appears indicating that an error has been encountered during installation. I click 'ok' and any repetitions. It's actually the second time that I have restored factory settings, because the first time, the screen would go black randomly and whatever program I was in would cease operation (the computer would still be on however). I ran a first hard disk and the memory test. Both have passed without error.

Make sure that the woreless is put ON for the recovery process, not to touch any key or do anything while the recovery does its job, or that may cause failure too.

    Is there an error code?

I guess that its Windows 7?

Thanks for posting your complete product number
