After the SP2 on Vista 64 update, Windows Update will reflect no updates in the history of the update successfully, only to fail.

Suggest you clean boot Vista x 64 . Perform step 1 .
Once in the clean boot state, run the Fixit here in clicking on the Internet Explorer shortcut and choosing "Run as Administrator" . Enter a password, if one is used, or click on the button continue. :
How to reset the Windows Update components?

Then click the Fixit button, click run in the file download dialog box, and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard. and choose the default option. Restart the system after the tool runs and check if updates are available, and if they install automatically.
Since it's Patch Tuesday, updates should be available for the system soon, if not today.
IF no updates installed automatically in the coming days, rerun the Fixit but aggressive use.
Don't forget
to Cancel the clean boot once you have completed the steps running the Fixit.

  • After changing themes in Vista, all my windows went dark? __

Reading that Vista's Aero theme uses a lot of RAM, do not love the blue Vista Basic and two classic Windows & Standard themes are almost identical, though the marine blue headers are a shade different, I went shopping [search] for the theme XP Home, I miss to see if there was a version downloadable from 'measure' and usable in my Vista Home Premium 32 SP2. At the moment where I participated in this [ago about 2 weeks] I know that I was looking for the XP theme is called "Luna". Early in my research on Bing, Google, Yahoo etc, I found myself at Club Vista and then the Windows Club where I came across a theme called Royal XP and I thought that it must be because that the XP theme always had a Royal Blue header, so I downloaded the offering, and it came in the form of .zip file so I extracted to C:\ Windows\Resources\Themes [where the Aero folder is kept] but I forgot to make a 'Royal XP' folder so it spread out under the Aero folder in individual parts so to speak. Well, I thought that badly. It wasn't the version theme I was looking for. Not being a program to uninstall, I started to delete the parts in this big enough components bouquet and I think I accidentally deleted the file "msstyles" which was outside of the Aero folder and out of this place to the desktop, most of my system enabled Windows dark as in the dark with a few icons and windows and black message boxes of gout black and so on. All Windows Explorer windows are black with visible folder icons. There is no readable text. I see some Internet, but the browser is black and start the search by clicking the mouse to find the corner close button. If a message window appears like UAC asking permission and can't seem to find who continue button, the only recourse is to restart and start menu is too dark. I can read the incoming emails, but when I try to reply or forward the window becomes black. Completely at a standstill with the use of a problem of "lights" out, I write from a computer at the public library, and I hope that in the years past answers has corrected me and I realize that I have deleted or moved by accident a very critical file and cannot locate in the Recycle Bin to restore because it is only black in any window of Solution Explorer. I was unable to use the restore of the system for the same reason, and now the problem is two weeks. When I put the Vista disc indeed possible repair, disk window is black. I hope I can get some initial ideas. Thank you.

    Hi jondan7,

You deleted the file is a system file, you can scan the SFC on the computer to replace corrupted or missing system files.

5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.
    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter
    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.
    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time
    9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue
    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection found no violations of integrity."
11 after the scan finished, close the command prompt window reboot the computer and check.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

  • Repeated error codes: 80073712 and 800 b 0100 update SP2 and Vista security update

I have recently reinstalled Windows Vista, and I'm constantly getting error codes when I try to download the updates. So far, I found solutions for all of them, but I can't find solutions for the updates listed below.

I thought that maybe the old files make it difficult for Windows to date.

    Information on my computer:
System model: Compaq Presario CQ 50 Notebook.
Name of the operating system: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic
    Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002
    System type: X 86-based PC

    Error Codes and updates include:
    1. Update for Vista (KB979559) - error Code: 80073712

2 Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 update for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (KB974470) - error Code: 800 b 0100

Another thing is, whenever I try to download these updates, my computer always wants me to reboot.

I tried following instructions to solve the problem of error code found on the Microsoft Solutions:
    1. I have disabled the firewall PC Tools Antivirus and Windows. Tried to download again and no luck.
    2. I ran the Microsoft FixIt "System Update Readiness Tool", and he said he couldn't find any problems.
    3. I've been through the tool administrator CMD System File Checker, and he says "not found any breach of integrity.

Yesterday, I tried to download SP2 from Windows Update, and I got the error code: 8024200d. I then downloaded from the Microsoft Web site, and it worked fine. I tried to download the SP2 update on the site, and it failed.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Tonya

  • Desktop computer drive HARD problems, won't load after the splash screen only in black

Hi, I hope someone here can help me. I have HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop I had for nearly 4 years. These last 4-6 months I get questions such as getting the BSOD (usually unmountable_boot_volume) and excessive delay/hanging while working. I was able to fix these with chkdsk and sfc since no virus was detected. But I couldn't make the successful restore points as they always disappear.

But last night I forced him to close due to the hanging again and rebooted, it upward to get "a disk read error has occurred. Press ctrl + alt + del to restart"only to receive the same message again. Not far enough, he won't do a chkdsk or sfc. So I went to use my bootable usb key with a recovery console to run chkdsk, startup repair and sfc. He managed to get through the bios and was able to connect to my computer, but it would not load the office. It's just a black screen with my cursor. Going even in safe mode it will appoint the task bar, but soon, to get an error "windows Explorer has stopped working".

I don't know what to do anymore. It would be great if I can just get into my HARD drive one last time. I've saved most of my files knowing he would die on me, except a few files and just need to run once more to save them. Would appreciate any help, please!

  • Dead laptop after the BIOS update. How can I restore original BIOS?

    Model: HP Pavilion m7-1015dx

    Original OS: Windows 7

Current operating system: 64-bit Windows 8

    Problem:

I tried to update the BIOS by using this file:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-124651-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en...

    Release: 2013-10-08
    File name: sp63801.exe [1/1, 6.56 M]
    Version F.29

He gave me a Blue Screen of Death and the computer restarted. After the restart I only get a black screen, the fan comes on but there is no text and no way to access the BIOS, or the start menu.

The led caps lock starts to blink twice, then stops for 1 ~ second then blinks twice again and again, indefinitely. This, according to HP, suggests a failure of the BIOS Corruption.

    What I tried:

I do not have the HP recovery partition, so I tried to install the two update of UEFI BIOS HP SoftPAQ and HP UEFI support SoftPAQ environment on a FAT32 USB key named HP_TOOLS. I tried these tools separately, at the same time. I tried them with 3 different bios downloaded from this site. I hold the button windows and B, then turn on the computer. Nothing happens. I tried Fn and B, holding them for different periods, there are no beeps, no text on the screen, nothing. The led on the USB key blinks ten times at the beginning and then stops, then starts flashing caps lock. I tried to put the .bin file in different folders in the USB port, including the root, same result. No.SIG file is in the bios I downloaded.

I am on mobile, excuse the errors. What Miss me?
