  OK, it's kinda a complicated question.  For starters, I will describe my current setup:

  Cable modem Motorola-> Airport Express #1-->(Ethernet over powerline)-> Airport Extreme-> multiple Airport Express for AirPlay

  Airport Extreme and Airport Express #1 are put in place to create wireless networks, with different names for 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz frequencies.  I love this configuration because it allows me to play music simultaneously on the four different speakers hooked to my Airport Express units while offering good coverage in my apartment together.  It worked perfectly until two days ago when two of the Airport Express units lost their connection and are now flashing yellow.  I tried to restart the Airport Express and Airport Extreme, but nothing helped.  When I launch iStumbler, it looks like Airport Express #1 and Airport Extreme both create networks of right, but who is the Airport Extreme 802. 11A instead of 802.11n - don't know if it of a problem or not.  I suspect that the Airport Extreme is not working properly because when my wireless connection when you use my iPad near the Airport Extreme, that used to be solid as a rock, is now uneven intermittently.

  Any ideas on how I can solve this?  Thank you very much!

  It sounds like your extreme is the very old Gen1 or Gen2 model without dual band.

  Back to the factory and start over. It's the best way to solve problems... reboot is worth a trial, but in the end, you sometimes just have to redo the installation.

  If you really have a 1st version of the AirPort Express Gen (see note below *)... and you have configured to connect to the time Capsule using Wireless 'add a wireless network', then the Ethernet port is active and you can connect a switch to the Express.

  Don't forget that the Ethernet on the Express port is only 100 Mbit/s capable, so even if you could have a 1 000 Mbps or Gigabit switch, the speed will never be higher than 100 Mbit / s.

  * A 1st Gen Express is A1264 model number. Look on the side of the Express to locate the model number. Hard to see, with grey lettering on white background.

  Actually, no. Connect a non-AirPrint printer to the USB port on the base station will NOT make it capable AirPrint. In order to print from a device iOS on this printer, you need to a third party (such as the Printopia) application running on a Mac.

  Function of the Express print server does not have Internet access at work. In other words, you can have the Express create a local wireless network, connect a USB printer and share the printer on the LAN.   Sorry, but no.  The distant Express which is too far can connect to one of expresses it airport who are already extending the network... so that it can be used for AirPlay or to connect a USB printer. .. .but the distant Express cannot "extend" the wireless network and provide additional wireless coverage.

  Ideally, your network could have AirPort Extreme, placed in a central location in the House, and each Express which extends the network would be located approximately the same distance from AirPort Extreme... and... ACH Express would be closer to the AirPort Extreme to another Express.

  If this is not possible, then you need to look at a wired Ethernet cable solution for at least one of the Express features, or an Ethernet Powerline solution if you cannot run the Ethernet cable.

  Sorry, but it's not really important that you use CAT5 or CAT6 wiring as the Ethernet on the AirPort Express ports are limited to 100 Mbps. You never reach 200 Mbit/s that your ISP provides to you. The AirPort Extreme, has on the other hand, all Ethernet 1 Gbps ports.

  I am a musician who has been using my old AEX to listen to the music and the recording via Airplay and Airfoil for my Roland onstage for years without problem.   Local ISP technicians have managed to get my router all re - set up and working, but I had to reconfigure my wireless devices (example: wifi printer) from scratch to be able to connect again.

  The tenacious hold on is this old Airport Express.

  Yes, I tried pressing the Reset button for 10 seconds, etc... He just goes at once orange flashing or sometimes solid orange light, and don't see the Airport utility. It has no Airport icon in my menu bar and no Airplay icon in any relevant application such as iTunes.

  Once again, I only want to not to listen to the music and the tracking records of my Macbook. Roland aren't in a convenient place for an electrician. As you can tell the age of my stuff, I'm a starving musician, don't want to have to buy something new.

  I have 40 MB/s internet speed down.  I have a new modem century link (recently moved home - new internet service) feed my Airport express.   Until a few days ago I received all 40 Mbps through my Airport Express wireless.  Now it is capped to 10 for some reason any.  The only thing that has changed is that I had to power cycle my modem to redirect a couple power cords in my basement.  When I connect my computer to the same ethernet cable that feeds the Airport express I get the full 40.  I tried to restart everything. I tried all channels 2,4 ghz manual on the express (I didn't configured 5 GHz because I really don't need right now).  I don't know why its running at 10 and not 40 like a few days ago.

  What is the brand and model of your modem provided by century link? What exact model is your base station AirPort Express? Is the Express directly connected to the modem by Ethernet?
