  A1084... assuming it works... could probably be used for AirPlay, but the A1084 calls this AirTunes.

  The A1084 is at least 9 years old, probably older and the average useful life of an AirPort Express is about 3-4 years. It is amazing the A1084 to work at all, but school drop-outs you see now with the Express indicates that it is heading for the South, he may not be around much longer.

  Unplug the Express and put it in the same room as the AirPort Extreme.

  Put power on the Express for a few minutes, then hold down the reset button on the back of the Express for 7 to 8 seconds and release.

  In my house, the extreme is connected to a fiber modem 250 / 250 MB/s and I plugged a time Machine as an Express via CAT6 UTP. All serve as a router and provide 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi on the different floors of the House. Just a question: Express has 2 ports ethernet 100BT, Extreme and Time Machine have 3 1000BT Ethernet ports.   No.... but any device connected to the Terminal AirPort Express will have a maximum speed of 100 Mbps. So, if you connect a 1 000 compatible device to the Ethernet port on the Express, it would appear as a device of 100 Mbps on the network as the Express is limiting speeds.

  So, if you want a device that is capable of 1 000 Mbit/s to have 1 000 Mbit/s speed on your network, it will have to connect to AirPort Extreme or time Capsule.

  Please move the new AirPort Express Terminal very close to your "main" AirPort Extreme

  Locate a short, spare Ethernet cable... no matter what length will make

  Turning off the 'main' AirPort Extreme as well as your other two airport expresses

  Restart the 'main' AirPort Extreme and to let a minute, but keep the other two airport expresses power off for now

  Restart your Mac as well

  Turn on the new Airport Express for a minute or two

  Pressed the reset button on the back of the new Express for 7-8 seconds, then release and allow a minute for the Express start slow, flashing amber light status

  Connect the short Ethernet cable from one of the three LAN <-->spare ports on AirPort Extreme 'main' on the 'O' WAN port on the AirPort Express Terminal

  Run again through the configuration

  If the Express set up correctly, it shuts down and move it to the new location at the end of the long Ethernet cable and then power back up again.  If the Ethernet cable is not working properly, the Express will work correctly.

  Then, turn on your other two AirPort Express devices.

  To clarify the issue and the scenario, one of my friend described a typical scenario in which there are 2 AEs. AE1 has an ISP in its port WAN and AE2 has a different ISP in its WAN port. This 2 AE can mutually connected between them by using ports LAN AE1 and AE2 ethernet cable? He said this could be feasible if AE2 remained in bridged mode, without using the ISP attached to its WAN port. I just don't get how this is possible. Friends of the search help.

  OK not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I can't connect to my Airport Extreme update IOS 10 my wife is.

  We all have two iPhone 6 and 64 gb & update at the same time.

  We have an ac 802.11 Airport extreme also an extreme dual band of airport & an express airport which none of us can connect to.

  We can connect to the Home Hub 6 provided by our service provider broadband with no problems but it is only in a part of the House that we are unable to connect to my office or at the back of the House.

  Tried resetting the network settings on the phone thought I might ask before having to try to reset back to factory settings base stations.

  FWIW, I upgraded my iPhone SE 5 and Pro iPad to iOS 10 as well, but knows me not any problems connecting to one of my base station AirPort to Wi - Fi.

  Or the other of your iPhones must all problems connecting to other networks in addition to the Home Hub Wi - Fi? In other words, are they only having problems connecting to your AirPort base station? If Yes, do you have someone nearby who also has an AirPort wireless network that you should check your iPhones with?

I would have thought dropouts would leave as the macbook approached #2, but there is virtually no change.

  • Starting from the host of iTunes MacBook to AirPort Extreme.
  • Extreme for:
    • Express #1 if this Express is chosen as the "speaker" AirPlay, or
    • #2 has been chosen as speaker, express or
    • At the time, if the two were chosen as speaker.

  Thus, it is possible that the path includes several obstacles (walls) for AirPlay to go.

  I am struggling with Setup in our business that is pretty special. Our cash register, the Bank Terminal and the control system are all serviced by an Airport Extreme that was configured with care by a dedicated company. The extreme is powered via an Ethernet based modem. The basic modem is a box any of the internet service provider in our country that has four ethernet ports and a basic WIFI network that we open for customers. As the basic modem is too far from the extreme, a powerline sitecom was initially used to carry the signal to the modem from basic to the extreme.

  But the powerline connection was poor, so they advised me to replace the powerline by an Airport Express in client mode, which converts the client base modem wifi signal ethernet to the WAN port on the extreme. At a time of seemingly random, all of a sudden the extreme complains that the internet connection is lost. In airport utility, the extreme flashes green, but the internet icon is orange and the notification indicates that the connection is lost. However, the Express flashes green and is always connected to the WIFI which worked again properly, I confirmed. Restart the extreme and Express to solve the problem, but only temporarily. After some time, the extreme complained again that the internet is lost.

  From your description, I guess that the WiFi connection between the base modem and the AirPort Express is where you need to solve problems more far. Looks like that the modem is not a simple modem, but a combination modem and the wireless router, also known as the name of a gateway device.

  Nevertheless, the best solution would be to use an Ethernet cable dedicated between the "modem" and the AirPort Extreme. Bypassing the Express all together. The next would be Powerline adapters.
