All good programs/applications to speed up my mac?

Ive had my macbook pro for 4 years now and its always a great. Recently its been running terrible, constantly loading and interrupt and loading. This happens on the internet and even with my iTunes. Its now got to the point where I can use my mac without extremely frustrated yet. Something that lasts 20 seconds, takes about 15 minutes. My Os x is up to date and my hard drive is clean enough. Is it that I can do to speed up towards the top/fix my mac?

Applications 'Performance improvement' cause frequently more harm than good. Unless you have a problem or particular target performance bottleneck, I would stay there.

I would say running a utility of diagnosis such as the EtreCheck first. Even if is not identifying the cause, it would eliminate the usual suspects.

Edit: The 'usual suspects' in my book.

(1) insufficient RAM. Better resolved by adding more RAM if possible, sometimes established by a management of RAM under the old OSs utility.

(2) incorrect RAM. Better resolved by reinstalling original.

(3) undesirable background processes as guardian of Mac. Better solved by uninstalling applications 'performance improvement '.

(4) file/user cache corruption. Usually a specific application slowdown. Correction to empty the memory cache manually or by reliable utility.

(5) the corruption of system files. Fixed by the clean OS reinstall. First backup.

(6) drive hard failure. Fixed by reformatting or replacing hard drive. First backup.

  • How can I get a recovery CD without all the programs pre-installed on A85?

My father spent $800 on a laptop Toshiba A85 (June 2005). His laptop computer has been running slowly most of the time, I made 3 re - installed for him it did not help, it is OK for the first month, but it starts to crawl when starting and simple tasks like opening explore seem to take forever.

I'm very angry with Toshiba they put all these DEMOS programs preinstalled on your laptop AND the recovery CD. This is not good!. The user has no CHOICE about this. Why Don t Toshiba provide these demos on a CD and let the user decide who he wants on his laptop!

I was lucky that I had a Windows XP CD (which came with my PC at home), I tried to install it and it helped a lot! But a few months later, her laptop is slow again. It takes 5 minutes to start and he is on all fours!

I did the usual things - chkdsk, defrag, norton, adware etc...

Is there a hardware flaw with Toshiba laptops? I noticed other people complain about speed?

His old office 700 MHz is faster!

I complained to the technical support of Toshiba (USA) on all pre-installed applications on the recovery CD, but they say they could not do anything for me. They said that a "Windows XP CD is a CUSTOM option and you should have specified that when you bought the laptop" - WELL WELL HOW ARE CLIENTS SUPPOSE KNOWLEDGE what before to BUY the laptop?

What did the Toshiba is not fair. They must have contributed money for all of these applications on the laptop, but it does not help the user it!

OS running slow is incumbent not only on the laptop to the manufacturer, but much more on the user itself. I agree that some things about the recovery image is absolutely useless, but you can simply remove the system everything you think you don t need.

No you don't have to have on your system. Remove everything simply. Another problem is the user himself. I know many users who install each software garbage as possible and then wonder if the system is soft.

I recommend you to check what antivir software you use because many of them slow OS and take too long in the beginning. Also check the list of startup items. Many of them are not important at the start and can be launched separately if necessary.

Google, a little bit and you will find many useful articles how system run faster.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).

  • All software/programs reinstall it from a backup hard drive?

I just bought my wife a MacBook Pro computer refurbished GroupOn.  It was made in 2012.  She has an old computer MacBook 2008.  We did a full backup on an external hard drive.  All software/programs installed will be reinstall from this backup?  We discovered that iLife is not on the computer is restored to nine... apparently when they wiped the computer, everything is gone, but the basics that come with Mac OS Yosemite.  Please advise... Thank you

It depends on your backup, how you did and how you plan to restore.  Two computers running the same version of operating system?

Some simple applications can simply be dragged from drive to drive. Some install components in every sense, and only a clone will restore everything. The problem is a clone of a 2008 computer cannot boot a computer from 2012. A regular drag and drop saving is not a clone, or Time Machine.

    Hello swuser, welcome.

What it sounds like, is that Windows creates a new user with admin access account and then migrate parts of your data on. This is probably due to corruption on the part of your "old" user account

My suggestion, rather that to re - install all your programs, would be to simply make a copy of your desktop shortcuts and drag them into the START > all programs >... destinations.

If you need find the shortcuts for some programs, we can tell you where programs actually exist in Windows. Let us know exactly what it is you are missing and we can see if we can help you.

Regarding Microsoft Office, you can find the actual programs by visiting here:

    1. click on START
    2. click on 'my computer '.
    3. double-click on "disk Local (c)"
    4. double click on "Program Files".
5 double click on "Microsoft Office".
    6 double-click on "Office12".
    7. find "WinWord12.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
    8. find "Excel.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
9 find "PowerPnt.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
    10. find "Outlook.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
11 go ahead and find the rest of the Office applications in this folder. Follow the same instructions as above. Most of the Office applications have some identifiable names (such as Microsoft Access = Access.exe)

    Hi DandyBaron,

    ·         You are not able to access these programs at all, or simply not start menu?

Follow these methods in the order and see if the problem is resolved.

Method 1: Follow the steps and check out them.

    a. open an Admin command prompt window. To open an administrator (high) prompt, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator.

    b. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press ENTER:

    regsvr32 msxml3.dll

    c. closing session and you connect again to your user account and see if the menu items are displaying correctly.

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

I suggest you analyze your computer Microsoft Safety Scanner, it will help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malware

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Step 2: try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.
