All icons open with Windows 7 Media Center Desktop

Trying to load 6 Adobe program, I loaded several times, the next thing I knew my Windows Media Center appears.  I can't close it.  I noticed that some of my icons on my desktop have also changed the colors.  When I click on IE, e-mail program, other icons on my desktop, Windows Media Center opens.  I did a rebooth under soft mode and did a restore but Windows Media Center keeps coming back.  Went into the Windows Media Center and do not see anywhere that I can disable this option. I did a rebooth and shut down my computer, but it keeps coming back.  I have Win 7 Ultimate.  Recommendations on how I can close Media Center window. Dukey

  • Ehshell.exe error with Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002, service pack 3

Running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with service pack 3.  I get the ehshell.exe error when I try to watch live TV.  It crashes, debug and I usually won't have to ctrl-alt-del to get anywhere.  Do not seem to have this problem before I added various updates etc, tv was fine before this date.

I'm not particularly computer so nice easy steps please...!

    Thank you, Nicholas

Ehshell.exe is a Windows system file that is used to run Microsoft Media Center. It is not a critical system file. However, the ehshell.exe file can become infected and cause errors trying to run certain programs. If the ehshell.exe is absent, it can also cause errors. Reinstall a clean copy of ehshell.exe with the Microsoft System Restore.

      • 1

Click on the "Start" menu, then click on "programs". Scroll down and click on "Accessories," then "system tools." Click "system restore."

      • 2

Click 'Next' in the window system restore for a list of points of restoration which has been archived.

      • 3

Select a restore point created before the ehshell.exe file becomes corrupt or got deleted. If no restore point until this time is listed, click on "Show restore points more" to select the one that is before this date. Click 'Next' to choose which restore point.

      • 4

Click 'Finish' to start the system restore. The computer will restart once the process is complete and the ehshell.exe file is reinstalled.

  • Windows XP Media Center 2005 cannot connect to the Internet

    Dear all,

I'm having a problem with Windows XP Media Center 2005. The problem is that when I connect the cable from the modem to the laptop, I only send packets without receiving. The IP address I get is also 169.254.207.207, which is not a valid IP address to connect to the internet, and so I guess that something is blocking the laptop to get the IP address. Another thing I noticed is that when I turned off the modem and restart it, I have connectivity maybe 5 seconds and then return to no connectivity.

You guys can tell me what is the problem, and if I have to download something but in addition to the internet so that I can get my laptop to work. That said, I can connect to wireless with no problems.

Thanks for your help and your time

    Martyna

    Hello

Sorry for the question but what modem did you mean?
A simple analog modem or DSL (broadband) modem that supports support a LAN connection.
If you mean the second then I would check the TCP/IP settings in the properties of LAN card. The settings should be set to automatic

You should also check that you firewall settings.

    Hi Bevtravel,

Windows Media Center on Windows XP, like Windows 7, can use external USB TV Tuner to watch/record TV. Make sure that external USB TV Tuner is compatible with the version of Windows Media Center that you have on your computer (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, etc.).

Access the link to learn more about recording TV in Media Center.

  • How to reinstall Windows XP media center

I have an old computer with windows xp media Center is installed. I'm looking to build upon after sitting unused for over a year so I want to do a new installation. I also think that the hard drive is running out (maybe why I stopped using it) because it makes a very loud grinding noise when used so I have a spare hard drive to swap in.

It includes a hard disk recovery partition and I have the license for it, both on the side of the case and from the registry.

How can I reinstall the operating system on the new drive?

    Hi all
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and a USB Pinnacle USB TV adapter (80th).  Which works fine with the software provided by Pinnacle, (TV Center Pro) using Clear QAM. However, I want to use the adapter USB TV with Windows 7 Media Center.  When I go in the options of signal TV of WMC, it shows Clear QAM as an option.  Can someone tell me please how to display the QAM option?  And why is it hidden initially?

Bad bad Microsoft!  Shame on you for something!

    Hi all
I finally got that it works, and that a single push.

First of all, I uninstalled all drivers for my TV card in Device Manager. I had to do this several times, as he kept drivers already installed conclusion, but finally there lack of pilots.

    -Reboot
-J' pressed F8 during boot and selected "disable driver signing" at startup.
-Once Windows 7 has been started, I installed the drivers Beta 64-bit listed above.
(I didn't understand how automatic default to F8 and 'Disable driver signing', always looking at this information, my plan is not to restart very often at the moment.)
-Then, I scanned for TV stations, technnicaly my adapter showed as two adapters, said the Media Center window to search for the two adapters and found all my ClearQAM channels.

I have installation check, I'll see how it works, but so far, Windows Media Center looks really sweet.

I hope this helps others, I know that I spent many hours to find it.

  • Windows 7 Media Center Live TV and recorded TV no sound.

After the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 and get all the drivers updated, Windows 7 Media Center has no sound for TV or recorded TV, but sound works for all other programs, including just play music in media center.  Reading DVD and Bluray will similarly play with surround sound with HP DVD BD play, then it is certainly not an audio card/driver problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

An additional note: If you look at mixing devices, remember that you have multimedia running. If you do not, it may appear not as part of mixer. When I got a pronlem with no sound in WMC, but WMP worked (as well as my other apps), it turns out be the problem, but you would only see it when WMC is running.

Thanks, my TV sound is is arrested without reason, but everything except the sound effects in media center worked. turned out that some how the mixer was gone the media center to 0 and left it like that.

music media player plays even when he is selected in media center is not affected
